This last month I have been noticing that either when I am coming to a stop the transmission down shift hard.... and when moving from a stop it gives two bucks like a standard does when u let the clutch out to fast... so i went into do my oil change and asked them to look at it.... guess what its getting a new tranny..... makes me want to trade it in when i get it fixed....
View 14 RepliesWhy the paddles were on the steering wheel or, more specifically, why they'd move along with turning the steering wheel. It sometimes makes it hard to downshift going into a turn or upshifting coming out of out a turn, especially if you don't use the paddles a lot.
well, today, I got to drive one of these and the paddles are in a fixed position. it's MUCH easier to shift knowing where those paddles are at all times when driving faster than you're supposed to. of course I was doing a little spirited driving. downside to that car (only a little) is that it's LOUD. you like the sound of an R?
I have a problem with a bmw 1996 7 series transmission.When I start driving the car all gears shift fine, but when I come to a stop it won't downshift to first gear,i have to put the car in park and then in drive again and it run ok until I come to a stop again.
View 4 RepliesI picked up an '08 R32 about two months ago and was having issues with the DSG and the dealership determined it was an issue with the mechatronic unit so they swapped it. That made a huge difference, but the downshifting is still very hard when coming to a slow stop (to the point where the car jumps), especially from 2nd to 1st gear. About half the time when I back out of a parking spot, then put the car in drive and start to give it gas, the car doesn't move for a few seconds as the RPM's build, then it slams into gear.
This all happens in drive (D). I haven't even used the other modes to know if it's happening there too. The dealership says they don't see any issues with it and there are no error codes and that there is nothing wrong with the car, but this is by far the worst transmission I've ever had in any car I've ever owned. I find it hard to believe that VW and Audi would put this in their higher end cars, so I can only assume there is something wrong with mine.
My 2009 Sonata (4 Cyl.) has begun to downshift very rough while coming to a stop from about 20 mph. At first I thought it was the brakes, but now I'm convinced it's the transmission. Essentially it "jerks" a couple of times before stopping. It started happening at 30,000+ and only happens when transmission is still cold. Once I've driven for a bit it doesn't happen.

I noticed that in my car, you can feel a slight lurch forward as the transmission downshifts into first when approaching a stop sign. If I am barely on the brakes, I feel the slight lurch but don't hear anything. Under normal braking, that slight lurch happens along with a clunk. You wouldn't hear it with the radio on, but it's very repeatable and with the windows down you can hear it as well coming from under the car somewhere.
I have an intermittent issue where the tiggy seems to downshift harshly to 1st when coming to a stop while in D. Almost like dropping the clutch but not enough to chirp the tires - just enough to feel a thump. I figure it's related to the engine braking "feature" of this car but doing it incorrectly. It seems as though once it's happening, it stays like that for a while, but the next day for example, it will be fine.
I've been observing it for some time now and it doesn't seem temperature specific. In fact, I have a hunch it might be electronic even since if I turn off ESC it stops occurring. Turning off brake auto-hold doesn't make a difference either (this is turned off automatically if ESC is shut off).
I hate taking my car into the dealer for intermittent issues... they are notorious at dismissing something if it doesn't happen right then and there in front of their face. Thought maybe I should check the forums incase their's a TSB or something to fix this exact issue or if it's just unique to my tig.

I have an 2011 6.7 that has a h&s tuner. Lately my transmission seems to be confused about what gear it should be in when I'm driving about 45mph. It will sometime downshift hard. I have a early build 2011 and heard that it could be a solenoid problem with the transmission.
View 8 RepliesI have 2010 Sonata with 4 cylinder engine and 50,000 miles. For a while now, my car has a real hard downshift at around 20mph. When i put the car in shiftronics mode and do not downshift manually, at the 20mph hard downshift the car is shifting from 4th to 3rd. A while back i had the TSB for hard downshift and also did a tranny fluid flush. Neither has seemed to solve the problem.
Also, the car has a annoying electrical hum/whine that is coming from the engine bay. When i shift car into neutral the hum/whine goes away. Also sometimes when shifting into lower gears the hum/whine will go away for a short period of time.
I recently just purchased a 2011 Lexus RX350 AWD... I would like to ask on the downshift while slowdown the car.... Every once in a while I feel the tranny down shift while slowing down... It's not harsh or anything, but just enough to have a slight feel. Like a backlash? Is this normal? I also have 09 GS350 AWD.. It's so smooth that I can't feel the downshift at all...

I just purchased a used trans, but would like to see if it could be ecu related. I have seen other comments from other member that they replaced the trans, but still the issues were present. Some stated that there was some issues with the ecu holding the trans solenoid longer then the usual.

View 9 RepliesI picked up a mkIV about 2 weeks ago, I've noticed that when the car is warming up that it feels like the transmission makes a *thunk* when coming to a stop. It seems to go away for the most part once warmed up, but every once in a while it will happen randomly after the car is warmed up though. I'm assuming this is the transmission disengaging as the wheels stop turning. Is this something I should be worried about, or is this "normal"...

View 4 RepliesWhile in Tow/Haul with my 5th wheel when slowing down probably at 5 or 10 mph the last downshift is very hard and the brake pedal gets real soft until full stop. Afterwards the brake pedal is firm. Tow/Haul without the trailer is fine. It's an '06 F250 Supercrew 4x4.
View 6 RepliesOn a manual car, I know it's not the best thing to go from neutral, completely bypass 1st gear, and shift to 2nd gear. As well as 3rd to 5th bypassing 4th. However, is it the same for downshifting into neutral or another gear? Will it hurt the transmission to go from 3rd to neutral (bypassing 1st and 2nd) when coming to a stop? I do know that shifting from 4th to 2nd gear and bypassing 3rd will harm your tranny. I just want to double check if I'm right...

Whenever I come to a hard-ish stop or almost-stop, the transmission downshifts to 1st and won't get out of it unless i play with the tiptronic mode selector and coax it to upshift. it shifts well and works well in gingerly driving other than in this circumstance. i took it to a shop and they say (as they always do) it needs a new tranny. I'm wondering out loud if there is some kind of mounting instability issue that could explain this. This is definitely a case of needing a new transmission. I have read a bunch about solenoids being the culprit in general shifting problems, but not this exact set of symptoms and circumstances.

I have noticed last week that when you are taking off from a stop sign it jerks going into gear. This only happens when you are taking off all the other shifts are smooth. The transmission fluid color is redish-brown and doesn't have a burnt odor. I don't know where to start. Do I get a tranny flush, change the fluid or is it something else?
View 5 RepliesI got new brakes pu ton lats month (semi-metalic). Any way I was driving to work and it was raining , roads were wet and my car was shifting weird after coming to a complete stop. once i went it would shift into first gear hard. I took it to a mechanic but he couldn't find a problem.
Then it was fine, no problem but today it was raining an dmy car did the same thing. Anytime I went when a light turned green or his the gas after being at a stop sign. the car would stutter as it shifted into first gear. like it would go , then act like it was stuck and then shift
It has only happened twice and its both been raining. Also my tires are really really bad.
Could it be the tires aren't gripping the road and that's why my cars shifting funny, like the tires aren't caught up?
