My sunroof will vent open and close by its self randomly while driving. Same problem occurs with my girlfriends 08 Passat. She said the dealership couldn't duplicate the issue, and when asked me about it I just laughed, shrugged my shoulders and said its probably just loose wiring.

View 8 RepliesThis might be better in the section of sun-roof issues, but I could not see how to add it there. Our 2013 GT has less that 5 thousand miles on it, and we've developed a problem where on occasion the sunroof will suddenly open or close all by itself. Sometimes it will just move one way or the other 2 or 3 inches than stop. Sounds crazy, and like something that will be hard to find.

How to get it to close until I can take it to the dealership? The only way it stopped is after I turned the car off and now its halfway open.

View 8 RepliesI have the windows/sunroof close via rain sensor enabled through vagcom. I go to the MFD but every time I select it on, it'll reset and turn off when I turn the car off and on. Why? Can't get it to stay on.
Also, to not start a new thread. What the Manual Door Lock option in the MFD does? It gives you the option of all doors or individual. I looked in the manual but still don't understand what it does.
My Mom has an '04 RX330, and the other day the sunroof randomly opened, and she closed it with the button with no problem. For the last 3 days, this has occurred randomly (opening only - all closing is by her) and all occurrences are when she is driving (not parked).
I told her to wrap the fob in foil today to remove that connectivity and to see if the fob is to blame. We will replace those batteries anyway as I don't know that they have ever been replaced.
I was trying to close my sunroof just now and it starts to close but it stops just before the end and opens back up again!! What do i do about it?
View 10 RepliesMy sunroof opens and closes correctly. but when in the closed position it will be sunken into the cabin of the car a few MM not sealing to the body of the car tightly. how do I fine tune the sunroof to sit flush with the body when closed? some kind of adjustment screws?

View 12 RepliesI get the worst wind buffeting (loud whooshing and terrible pressure) when driving with the sunroof open with all the windows completely up. And just yesterday I realized the roof opens up fully with some additional pressure (surprisingly hard pressure) after the lever is turned and I get the most unbelievable eardrum crushing pressure/ noise until I crack a window or two. I'm not kidding, its unbearable at pretty low speeds.
This seems like a serious design flaw (and should have been tested and corrected) not to mention extremely annoying as I can't use the sunroof without opening the windows.
My sunroof opened on the highway today with the switch in the closed position. Being a Seattleite, this could create a very wet condition in the cabin! I have owned the car for two years and have never experienced this before.
View 8 Replies2004 GLI ... Venting opens but when I turn the knob to open the sunroof completely, I can hear and see that it wants to open but it stays neutral and wont open up. I attempted the manual crank. Again, I can get it to vent manually, but when I turn the allan key the other way to fully open the roof, it will go as far as moving just below the roof line, but it will not continue to open. I'm concerned if I crank on it too hard, something will break.
View 2 RepliesTrouble shooting my sunroof. When I first go the car the sunroof would open but not close, even when I pushed in the button to reset.
I have replace/ and calibrated replace the switch now I get the fallowing.
When I put it to open all the way, it goes in to vent mode ( the back opens up), ( when i put it close it closes fine).
When i put in vent the sunroof slide back 1/4 of the way. when I try to close it closes and opens back to 1/4 open. I have to close it and press the button in to close it.
I have a few different rattles going on that I am not sure how to fix. I did a quick search and didn't find exactly what I was looking for.
1) Sunroof sunshade - about a week ago, the sunshade on the sunroof has started to rattle when the sunroof is open. If I lightly push up on the sunshade the rattle stops. The rattle goes away when the sunroof is closed.
2) Armrest - I get a rattle when driving over anything but super smooth roads if the armrest is any position but all the way down and pushed in. When armrest is extended, if I put any weight on it, the rattle pretty much goes away.
3) Driver side dash vent - again over anything but super smooth roads, the driver's side vent on the dash (next to the top of the drivers door) will rattle. If I push on the vent, the rattle is reduced but doesn't go away completely.
I'm experiencing noise when sunroof is open. This is happening at lower speeds and at last couple of sunroof positions. I guess it's vibrations or some weird effect. (Golf MKVI 2.5)
View 13 RepliesSo once in a while, a full press (either up or down) on the drivers side window button does not cause the window to fully open or close fully as it should... I'm wondering if this is something (a "feature") I'm somehow activating and just don't know it, or what. If I roll the window all the way up (needing the hold the button up until the window is all the way up), it will then behave normally--a full press down, release, and the window will go all the way down. This just started in the last month or so...
View 10 RepliesSo recently, on steep inclines or declines, the sunroof will tilt open to the first notch, all on its own. Sometimes it goes back, sometimes I have to turn it open and close it again. Nothing has changed, it just randomly started doing it in my driveway a few weeks ago (relatively steep driveway) I was parked on the slope with the car on, and it was just opening and closing and opening and closing.
View 3 RepliesI drive a 2006 Ford Focus. Last night, when I turned on my car, a number of things happened. (I should add that it was very cold, if that makes a difference)
1) My dashlights no longer work. The warning lights work fine, and I have checked the dial to make sure they are turned up, but I can no longer see what speed I am going when it is dark.
2) My taillights no longer work. One of the bulbs had previously blown, but now, the only ones that work are the rear blinkers.
3) My left driver side headlight is no longer working.
4) My trunk randomly kept popping open as I was driving. It has stopped doing so, but I am not sure if the problem is gone for good.
The mechanic wants to charge me $100 / hr just to even check the problem and indicated the diagnostics may take several hours. Having just replaced two tires, that option is far beyond my means.
