When I come to a stop there is a squeaking sound that is difficult to localize. It sounds like a combination of a squeaky rubber bushing and/or squeaky bed springs. The volume is magnified when slowing to a stop in a quiet garage but the best I can do is localize it to "the underside of the car".

I also wanted them to check out some squeaking my car was making that was noticeable when coming to a stop in say a parking garage or drive thru, and also the rattling I'm getting from the door panels. When I go to pick up my car, they said that everything was because of my exhaust and that they couldn't do anything about it. They also drove my car over 20 miles and that was the best answer they could come up with? Is it just me or does it seem like they were just joyriding my car? They couldn't even turn off the "service now" reminder. I really dont see how the rattling can be caused by my exhaust when I've brought it in for the same reason before I had the exhaust. What I should do? I mean the door panels rattle when coasting in neutral even, not just when I'm accelerating.
Also have a little squeal when turn the car off? Sounds like a belt to me but not sure.
I bought my R from Carmax about a month ago with about 26K miles on it (and, needless to say, I am in love with the car). However, after a week or two of driving, I noticed a squeaking/rattling sound coming from the front driver's side wheel well area when I let off the brake. It is loud enough for me to hear it with the windows rolled up, and it continues for several seconds at least after I let off the brake (maybe longer, but I can't hear it over the exhaust).
The rattle sort of sounds like it may have something to do with the turning of the wheel, so I thought it might be related to caliper vibration or something (not that I really have any clue. At all.). Anyhow, I took my R to Carmax to have them look at it because it is still under the 30 day warranty, and I figured I would start there before taking it to the local VW dealership. I got a call a few minutes ago from the service guy, who said the following:
"Our technician took a look at your car and determined that the sound is coming from your suspension. However, it is a normal sound and there isn't anything that needs to be fixed."
I argued with him and said that the noise may or may not be immediately harmful to my car, but it is certainly not NORMAL, and something needs to be tightened, lubricated, or replaced. He said he would have his tech look at it again.
Every time I come to a stop or accelerate from a stop theres this weird squeaking sound coming from I am guess in the suspension?? Whats causing this.
View 2 RepliesI have a 1993 Saturn with very low mileage (roughly 36,000 original miles) that I inherited from my grandma about 5 years ago. Early in the summer (May/June), when I would turn the a/c on, I started hearing a low squeaking/squealing sound when I would come to a stop. When I would start moving, turn off the a/c, put the car in neutral/park, it would go away. Over the past few months, I have noticed the squeaking/squealing getting louder and more so at night when the lights are on and during the day when there is a lot of moisture in the air and it really squeals loud every so often when I start moving from a stop until I hit around 2000 rpm.
The car idles at around 500 rpm and that is when I notice the noise the most. I have checked the belt and it appears to be in good shape (no cracking or fraying, it appears to be dry) and the tension appears to be good and when I got the oil changed last month, the guys at the Valvoline Quick Lube said it looked good as well. With the noise coming more often at night when the lights are on (or during the day when it is raining and I have the lights on), I have thought about taking the alternator off and getting it checked at the local parts store to see if when it gets put under load, it squeals there and to see if it is functioning properly. Could it be the alternator or something else, like the belt?
I have a squeaking sound that's coming out of my car when I accelerate and it has been persistent for the past few weeks. I'd like to fix it myself if possible. It seems like it's just a loose belt, but I'm not sure. If I don't have a lift, jack, or car mechanic experience is it reasonable to think that I could figure it out safely? I'm relatively good with my hands and at figuring things out. Are there any serious risks of damage to myself or the car from me tampering with the belts?

Recently I installed a GTA bluetooth system (about 4 months ago) and recently there is a squeaking noise coming from the passenger side. It almost sounds like an AC compressor issue (had the same problem with my F-250) but there is also an accompanying "gurgling" sound as well. AC problems with the Gen 2 after 160,000 miles?
View 7 RepliesHaving issue with body squeaking ? . I am getting a squeaking sound coming from around the passenger rear door /body area of my 2010 Passat. Car has 10K miles and has been doing this since around 6K miles. Not noticeable unless going over uneven pavement or railroad tracks but it is annoying. Never had any body squeaks from a new car lite this. Have not been to the dealer with this issue yet.
View 6 RepliesToday I am getting a "squeaking rubber" sound coming inside the car from the steering wheel when its turned. Not from under the hood! We had a sudden temperature drop over night but this has never happened before. Car has over 180K on it. Power steering fluid is between the lines. I don't see any plastic that is rubbing.

View 2 RepliesSometimes when driving I hear a light squeaking sound coming from the front wheel area. When i drive slow, it is a slow squeak, and when I go fast, the squeaking speeds up. I am thinking about spraying some wd-40 or silicone lubricant behind the wheel to lubricate the area to see if it solves my problem. I will be sure not to get any near the brake area but my question is, does spray wd-40 under the chassis or around the control arm area to stop those annoying squeaking sounds?
View 6 RepliesSo today I was backing up my 11000# fifth wheel at the campground when at 1500-2000 rpm I hear this awful shrieking sound coming from under the hood. I heard it the whole time while backing up and under a load. I never heard it once going forward. So when I get home I put it in reverse and hold the brakes and again I hear this shrieking sound coming from under the hood I get it up to 1500 rpms or so not moving just holding it and the more throttle i apply the louder the shrieking gets.
Now remember the truck is not moving its just spooled up, holding the brakes. I think that maybe something is wrong with the turbo, but I dont want to jump to conclusions. This truck is a 2001 F350 SRW CC LB 7.3 161,000 2 owner miles, 4 inch turbo back FLO PRO Straight pipe, and gauges everything else stock. What is moving that is making this horrible sound.
When i first got my MKV R32 it was such a great handling car. I was able to got very fast on curvy roads with not even a slight bit of skid or squeal. Now its developed this rattling and squeaking sound. I feel the bumps in the road more, i notice more body roll, and alot of vibration in the steering wheel, and what pisses me off the most is i hear more squealing on turns that i used to be able to take faster with no squeal. For example i used to b able to take this turn at around 75mph no peel, now i started peeling out at like 63. (my tires have alot of tread) when i got the car it had around 17,000 mi on it now it has 31,000 mi.
View 17 RepliesI am having this issue when crossing a bump at high speed, it only sound when the shocks de-compress and only happening in the mornings so I think it might be the piston rod inside the shocks that is "getting dry" on the night and therefore making the sound in the mourning.
View 3 RepliesSo this car has only 50k miles. It was really cold in the sierra (around 20F) and the car started making a squeaking sound. I assumed it was just belt warming up, but when I opened the hood later, I saw shredded plastic. No CEL's! Seems to run smooth.
Where this came from? Is it part of the serpentine belt system?
Lately I've been getting this loud annoying squeaking sound from my engine bay at idle. It sounds like its coming from the belt. The car has 16k miles so i dont see why the belt would have a problem already.
View 9 RepliesYesterday I noticed that there was a high pitched squeaking noise coming from the front of the car as I was driving. It was loud enough to hear over the radio, which I muted to confirm where it was coming from. It sounded as if it whatever was making it was rotating, if that makes sense. It was the most noticeable from speeds 5 mph to 30 mph, but I couldn't tell if it was the wheels or engine compartment. I have 4300 miles on it.
View 6 RepliesMy shifter when moved into fifth or six makes a squeeking sound. It only does it when you put pressure on the shifter to the full right of travel. I'm pretty sure that it the shifter is rubbing against some trim underneath the boot. I'm taking it in on Friday to have it checked under warranty but wanted to get member's opinion before I went in.
View 2 RepliesSo I just installed the Porsche Cayenne 18Z calipers onto my GTI. The install went great but now when I go around corners at speed there's a squeaking sound that comes from the brakes. I tried to epoxy the hub centric ring onto the rotor and grease up the outside of the hub where the rotor sits, but it's still squeaking.
