I am hearing a squeaking noise by my right rear quarter panel inside the cabin. How to safely remove the panel. I tried searching but the instructions were vague.
View 3 RepliesI bought a used 2013 Santa Fe Sport 2.0T Limited in August from a Hyundai dealership near Vancouver, BC. The vehicle had fairly high mileage (95K) but had been well-cared for and I got it for a fair price.
After a few days I noticed there was a "crunching" noise coming from the rear driver's side quarter panel area when going over the u/g parking ramp into my condo. The rear seats also jiggle and rattle at moderate speeds. Didn't really notice either on my test drive before buying it, as I just went over smooth roads.
I searched this forum and found some good leads, such as the inner quarter panel being loose, rear trailing arm issues, or perhaps some faulty welds. I printed out this info. reported by other owners and brought it to the dealership.
As kind of expected, the technician each time has said he couldn't hear anything unusual. (selective hearing?) The suspension system is supposedly sound.
My friends and family members all hear this creak (under the right conditions when the rear wheels are at uneven heights)...it's not my imagination. I've taken out the styrofoam cargo support and nothing changed.
I had a loaner 2015 Santa Fe and there was no such noise.
The rear seat jiggle is also irritating. I've experimented with putting the seat backs at different angles and nothing really works.
The vehicle has about 500KM left on its 100,000KM warranty.
getting access to the back of the rear quarter panel for paintless dent repair? This is for a 2 door 2012 Golf 2.5L.
I've heard from a few people that there's likely some sort of access point for this car but I haven't gotten any specifics. I'd rather not have the PDR guy drill a hole in the wheel well for the needed access.
I do see what looks like factory hole with rubber cover behind where the door closes (lower part) ..

View 1 Replies2008 Ford Explorer with 100,000 miles on it. My wife's car, and the last couple of times I've driven it I get a whiff of gasoline every now and then. I've looked at the engine and underneath the vehicle and have found no visible signs of a leak. Last night I walked by the car and smelled gasoline around the driver's rear quarter-panel. That is the opposite side of the fuel tank filler tube but it makes me think it could be fuel tank related. Where to start looking? Maybe a pin-hole in a line somewhere? Fuel filter? Fuel pump?
View 3 RepliesI noticed when driving on a rough surface/road (gravel, snowy road with sand) the there is a considerable amount of noise coming inside the cabin on the rear end especially.
When I was doing a quick wash today I just realized the sound is coming from the wheel base. On the rear and front end there is a plastic covering the wheel base. Sound proofing / undercoating wheel base.
I am getting some rattling noise from the inside of the cabin between the front and rear passenger doors. I had the exact same thing happen on my first Phaeton at around 25000 Miles. What causes this??
View 2 RepliesI'm new here to the F-150's forum although I've owned a few since 2001. I bought this F-150 '05 5.4L Lariat. Really nice truck. But when I purchased it, it had this weird noise inside the cabin. I thought because it had a camper on it that some tranny noise was coming up thru the camper and the rear cab. After taking camper off, the noise was still there. From everything I've read online, it could be rear pinion seal, differential bearing, tranny, front hubs, etc. I have left a video. Pay close attention to the little whine. Kinda hard to hear if your not listening for it.
Note- when i drive it is most definitely coming from the middle to rear of the truck. But I'm not ruling out anything. I have looked underneath the truck and the differential is dry and the driveshaft area near diff is dry. No leaks. I have not checked fluid in diff. Is there an easy way for these trucks? I have read and heard about adding an additive? The noise starts at about 10-15 mph all the way up to 80. I've never taken it past 80 but I'm sure it's still there.

I have 2001 EX with the 7.3 and my rear vent windows stuck open and I am stumped as to what might be the culprit. There isn't any power getting to the switches in the overhead console.
I replaced the relay 204 in the engine compartment, I believe that is the correct one.
Where the actual fuse is located for this and its number? Because both of them are stuck open not just one side.
If the windows are closed you can hear it much better. The best way I can hear it is when I am stopped and i step on the gas just enough to get the rpms up. Another way to hear it is when I am at a red light on a hill and I am using the clutch. It's a rubbing sound but not as fast as the engine if that makes sense. Would that be the clutch? It doesn't matter whether the clutch is in or not, you can do it in neutral as well. Vw seems to think its the clutch but i have no slipping or anything. 65K miles no engine mods except intake.
View 2 RepliesJust curious, but me thinks wind noise is now present inside my cabin at speeds above 60mph. Noticed this around the B-pillar? Could it be that the doors "loosen up" their tight seal as the car pounds mercilessly over bumps? 8500 miles in 4 months!
View 4 RepliesA 2 month old 2013 GTI cabin noise is driving me insane. Sounds like whistling or crickets inside the car and happens around 30 mph and above and its hard to point out the source. It is unaffected by vent positions, open or closed vents, air on or off so it makes me think its a seal somewhere. It is very loud :/
The dealership had it for a weekend to try and find the source but they said they taped every corner of it and the noise didnt go away. They also adjusted the doors and no change. Then they said other GTIs like my navi/convenience 2 door trim had them too but I wonder if its just BS.
Uploaded a video about it, but you will have to turn up your volume and wait for around 0:24 seconds in. My cellphone catches the noise faintly but it its loud if you ride in the car.
Do you have a noise that sounds like crickets or whistling and cant point out the source on a 2 Door too?
Our SFS LTD started this high pitch constant squeaking sound in the back of the hatch/cabin. We can't figure out where it's coming from. It doesn't seem to have any relation to the suspension (going over big bumps), and occurs on regular driving on flat terrain or regular street bumps/turns, city/highway...
We figure something is rubbing in the back or perhaps its due to a bulletin from the 2008 SFS (welding fix in the rear panel)?
Today I started noticing a squeaking sound coming from the brake pedal when braking slowly. After I put the car in park and inspected any noises from the outside, I realized that a squeaking noise was also coming from the rear brake drums of the car. It was perfectly find yesterday and this morning it started.

How do I remove the trim inside the lift gate? I saw two screws and removed them, but it's still being held in place. Is it near the indented handes? There seems to be little square plastic screw covers in there. I couldn't remove them (I was on the road) and didn't want to hack them if they weren't.
Should I be concerned or will it drain like normal? I thought it was dripping inside the cabin by the hollow plasticy thud sound it makes, makes me worry it's between the plastic layer and the door card.

A few weeks ago, there was a big rainstorm in California, and I accidentally backed into what I think was a storm drain under very deep water. I heard a big thunk, but there was no visible damage to the car. A few days later, I noticed a low groaning noise that comes from inside the cabin, somewhere around the center console/front passenger side. I usually only hear it when I am moving at low/moderate speeds and turning the wheel to the left, although occasionally if the road is bumpy I hear it with my wheels straight ahead. For a couple weeks, I thought the noise only happened when moving-- however, last Friday, I was sitting in the car, which was parked on a hill with the wheels curbed (steering wheel all the way to the left). I turned the car on, and immediately the car started groaning (even though the car was in park). Then, after about 30 seconds, the gas engine turned off (I think that's what happens when the car gets much quieter after idling for a bit) and the noise stopped. SO, it happened when the car was in park as well.
View 6 Repliesmy 2002 chevy s-10 started making an air/hissing noise inside the cab. It seems to be coming from around the air conditioner controls (center front). It hisses while running, whether moving or not, does not change when the air conditioner or fan is running or not, but does improve when accelerating quickly. What could this be and would it be an easy fix or a professional job (my husband restores old cars, but doesn't do a lot with the newer ones)?
View 1 RepliesStarted up my car this morning and drove to the gas station. I had the car on low fuel, got the low fuel light last night but didn't have time to stop by a gas station to fill up. Anyways after I did finally fueled up this morning, I pulled out of the gas station and a very loud squeaking noise which sounds like metal on metal occurred. The noise is coming from the rear, but it's really loud, nothing I have ever heard before.
I will mention that I have Koni coilovers installed, tried to peak under the car and see if something broke or came loose but I was unable to see anything since I am sitting pretty low.
I live in Chicago and this morning was very cold. I am trying to figure out what my issue could be. I called up the dealer and he told me to drive it around for a bit and see if it goes away. Another guess would be that something got stuck between the rotor and the break pad. I have the stock break pads. What could it be?
Installed a set of ultimos about 2 weeks ago. Replaced everything. Control arms, ball joints, mounts, bushings, pinch bolts. And I'm hearing a squeaking noise in the rear. Just started noticing it Saturday after we had a very hard rain.. Could it be from them being wet?
View 4 RepliesI just identified an annoying squeak as the right side of the tailgate, right at the hinge, rubbing on the section of the rear passenger side quarter panel (one with FX4 decal) where it curls around to the rear. Any way to easily adjust the tailgate slightly to the drivers side? When the tailgate is up, the gap is noticeably smaller on the passenger side, and when down, the edge of the tailgate rubs the edge of the quarter panel, paint to paint.
