Was just driving home from a little weekend trip in the R, and all of a sudden this horrible screeching noise started from what sounded like the back passenger side tire, we stopped and looked and nothing seemed to be stuck in there dragging, a few miles later it just stopped...
View 3 RepliesNot sure if this was already posted but I did a search and nothing came up. I have a HORRIBLE screeching, squeaking noise coming from my back seats. It's like nails on a chalkboard. Anyway, I feel like it's coming from the right passenger back seat, but I don't know the exact spot. It's so bad I have to turn the music up so I can't hear it. It happens especially when I drive over bumps. I folded the seat down and sprayed the metal part with WD-40 where the bottom of the seat connects to the back of the seat, but I don't think this is the problem area.
View 27 RepliesI have a set of ST that were put on a year ago. I raised them up in October for the winter. This past Saturday I lowered the car back down. As soon as I did I have the loud noise coming from the front passenger side.
I know it's not the top hats because I had that issue and replaced it and not the same noise. It is not the clunk that people associate with springs.
The noise seems to happen when spring/strut expand and retract.
Called ST today and they said if I had the car all the way down it is my fault. WTF? Why would you make a coil that is adjustable and the customer is able to go all the way down and then say it's my fault IF strut is blown?
The car drives straight and smooth so I dunno if it is blown. Could it be because of a build up of crap between the springs over winter (I saw some.)
I have a 09 Ford Focus, this morning I heard a noise that sounded like shaking, something in my back passenger tire. Sounded like something that should be connected and has now come disconnected, rattling around, only when I drive over a bump in the road (ie. manhole, crack in road, pothole) etc.
At times it feels as though the car is shifting when a bump is hit. I think it is the sway bar or stabilizer bar, is that what this sounds like? If this is what it is, is it time sensitive to get replaced? Or can it last a few days?
So for about two months I've had a crazy annoying whining noise coming from my back right tire. I've brought it to my garage twice, both time my mechanic has told me not to worry and cleaned the breaks. He has no real solution further than that.
I understand that it might not be something serious, but it's driving me crazy!
It's worth noting that I also need an alignment, with my car steering to the right normally.
I have a 2001 Honda Civic, 4 door, 144K, original owner, 5 speed transmission with brand new tires and new brakes all around. Whenever going around a sharp curve, there is noise coming from the back, almost as if the tire is scraping the wheel well. The new tires are the same size as the OEM tires that came with the car brand new. My thought is perhaps work out shocks?
View 3 RepliesVery weird indeed...our 20th AE sometimes will give off this very light horn noise that appears to be coming from the passenger rear tire area...I looked around and couldn't find anything..
The noise is very faint, and repeats in a beep, beep, beep and the longer it goes on, the more space between beeps....very weird.
Tire screeching noise (the same noise you might hear when traveling at a high rate of speed while turning; as if it's losing grip) when making U-turns or 70-90 degree turns? I notice this every time I make a U-turn or when I'm in parking lots where a higher radius of turning is involved; both at low speeds (probably around 5 mph)
Tires are the Michelins that come from Toyota. Thread is still at least 90% according to my previous service record about 4 months ago and I don't see any abnormal wear on the tires themselves. On another note, I have these same tires on a 2010 Sienna and they do not make any of the noises as stated above.
Within the last few days whenever I am backing up there tends to be a low hum noise coming from the passenger side tire when backing up and with no pressure on the brakes. The noise is not present at any time other then backing up so I am really unsure what could be causing it.
What could be causing this before I work on it. I know its not having any problem braking as well as it is also driving straight when the steering wheel is let go in drive.
When I'm driving low speeds...say under 40. there is a random but frequent rubbing sound coming from the front passenger tire. Previous my driver side coil over blew out and it was replaced by VW and they raised the car. After about a week i noticed the sound. The car also shakes between 55 and 65...so i'm assuming it's a balancing issue. But can't figure out what the rubbing is....ball bearing maybe?
View 5 RepliesI recently started getting a light tapping noise coming from the front passenger side tire wheel area. It almost sound like a nail stuck in the tire, but lighter in sound and there is nothing stuck in the tire........
Here's the kicker: It only happens when I turn LEFT!!!! I checked and there is nothing obvious that sticks out to touch the tire when it turns...
I got in my 1977 f150 V8 windsor the other day and headed down the road. All of a sudden I started to hear this sound that only way I can describe it is a big log chain moving around or a box of washers being moved around. I got out, popped the hood and thought at first that it was a pulley somewhere on the front of the engine, perhaps water pump pulley or something like that. The closer I got my ear to engine though I think it is coming from the back passenger side of the engine, not the front. I could be wrong about that, but I do know it is coming from the passenger side of the engine. Sometimes it will go away for 1/4 of a mile and then come back. I also noticed that it gets faster when I give it gas and slower when I don't, which is why I was thinking it had to be one of the pulleys going bad. I'm not so sure though because I think it may be coming from the passenger back part of the engine.
View 10 RepliesLess than a week ago I bought a 2002 Subaru impreza outback sport. Fun little car. However two days after I bought it I started to notice a noise coming from the back passenger side of the car. It sounds sort of like scrapping a plastic fork against metal. I have looked everywhere for anything that could be making the noise, as it seems to be coming from inside the car. IT also seems to get worse the longer I drive. I commute to work, and so for the first 10 minutes it's silent, then gets louder and louder, by the time I get to work its noticeably loud.
View 2 RepliesI have a 2004 Passat 2 wheel drive. I've noticed when going around right hand corners there is a Whop Whop noise seeming to come from my passenger side front tire. If I he really slow you can not hear it while going around corners. But I'm only hearing it going around right corner. I'm not sure what it is. I've went and has my rim and tires looked at. I took it in for a fuel filter to be put on and because I'm going out of town I had them inspect the my car they said nothing.
View 5 RepliesI have a 2001 Subaru legacy outback station wagon that is making a rotational squeeking/screeching noise from a passenger side wheel (haven't determined which one). I hear the noise when I am going slow, below 20 mph, though I can't tell if it is still making the noise at higher speeds. It stops completely when I apply my brakes. The brakes and tires were replaced within the last 3 months, this noise has been occurring for much longer than that.
View 3 RepliesI have a 2007 pt cruiser, and it's oh I'd say -10 degrees outside. Of course my car will not start. I attempted to recharge the battery and no such luck. It sounds like everything is turning over correctly. It's just as soon as the car starts the engine shakes and makes a loud screeching noise then shuts off. Now I can't tell if it's just too cold and something is frozen or there's something wrong with one of the belts.
View 5 RepliesIs it normal to have this rattle noise that is coming from the CAI which i never noticed before? This only happened after installing a turbo back and car runs fine. It just sounded like marble got sucked in the intake or 2 thick plates banging. I am pretty sure its not the heat shield for the filter also because i tried holding that and looked at that part. Went under the car too but i cant pinpoint where its coming from but maybe inside the engine?

I also got a pronounce rattling at 2000 rpm when I let go of the gas that's located maybe at the bottom passenger side. I am thinking fuel lines?
My 2010 GTI, which I bought in April of this year, has begun to rattle, mainly coming from the back part of the vehicle. I have taken it twice to the local dealer and of course this rattle mytsteriously goes away when they take it out on a road test.
One rattle area seems to be coming from the sunglass holder (sidenote: why the hell would they design them so bloody small? I mean, they barely hold any kind of sunglasses), but the main rattle is definitely coming from the back, possibly trunk area.
This is my first VW and I have been told the nature of a VW in the winter is that it rattles.
I have a 2007 ES350. It started making a vibrating noise and sometimes screech coming from the serpentine belt area. It stops when I turn off the A/C and also stops when I accelerate with the A/C on (only does it when idling).
View 3 RepliesJust picked up my BMP R32 last week. The car is MINT, only 25k on her, seriously probably one of the cleanest, stock mkiv r32's left. I got every single service record since brand new, all done by a Volkswagen dealer.
Only problem is, a knocking noise has just started to develop, coming from the front passenger area somewhere. It is only noticeable when I brake or let off the gas after accelerating, but definitely more noticeable when braking. At first I thought it was something rolling around in the door, but now it seems clearly suspension related, or a loose bolt or something?

Pulled off of the freeway on my way home from a superbowl party and felt some vibrating coming from my rear passenger tire. It's snowing pretty heavily here in the Minneapolis area so I thought it was just snow packed into my rim throwing off the balance. I pull into my driveway and go to look at it and find it flat. TPS indicator light never came on.
Long story short, I'm taking the car in to a dealership in the morning to get a new tire, since it will be covered by my wheel tire protection plan that I got when I bought the car. Also will want them to take test my TPS and fix it when they see it doesn't work.
