Can a remote start system be installed on the factory alarm ?

View 11 RepliesI just installed the Hyundai factory Remote Engine Start in my 2011 Elantra GLS and have a problem that the hazard lights come on and stay on when unlocking/unarming the car. To repeat, this is the genuine Hyundai Accessory Remote Start/Security kit (3X056 ADU00), not a third party offering. Everything that the kit is supposed to do, WORKS as specified, including remote start. The only problem is that when I use the key fob to unlock/disarm the system, the emergency flashers/hazard lights come on and stay on until I turn them off from the inside or until I toggle lock/unlock for the key fob a few times.
I've been through the wiring a dozen times, and am absolutely certain that the kit is wired correctly -- again all features work. Now, I find it interesting that NONE of the wiring of the kit (based on the schematic) comes close to touching a circuit that is identified as hazard/flashers! I even temporarily disconnected all four leads from the kit that go to the front headlamp circuits and rear tail lamp circuits -- and the hazards STILL CAME on when unlocking. This is telling me that there is an indirect/unintended "connection" between the kit and the triggering of the hazard circuit.
The kit is clearly the correct one for the car, and the car has the right equipment for the kit (i.e. No Smart Key, has auto transmission, power windows, power locks, etc). Why the hazard lamps come on when I click the keyfob to unlock the car?
I've got a 04 Passat TDI wagon with factory keyless locks. The remote/keyless entry range sucks! And yes I put a new battery in it. I've had cheapo alarms operate much further than this factory system. Can I extend the range somehow? Does the keyless transmit through the antenna? Are there any range boosters or ways to make this a real world usable feature?
View 1 RepliesI have an 07 SE, and I've been looking for a way to disable the factory Toyota chime and have my horn beep when I lock/unlock the doors. I believe the Asian models have this feature. Just wondering if it's something we can do with the USDM units.
View 1 RepliesI installed a remote start a while back. What I am struggling with is every other time or 3rd time I try to start it the horn goes off like a car alarm. Initially I was having a key issue and would get the immobilizer alert on the dash and It would fire and then shut off. Now if the horn starts going off all I do is hit the lock button and it stops after a couple honks and then starts like nothing happened.
View 2 RepliesHaving an interesting issue with my 2013 Elentra Limited ....
A couple times now the factory alarm will start going off by for no reason. This was confirmed by my neighbor, who was sitting outside when it started going off the last time with nobody around it. Also, when this happens, the alarm button the on key fob will not stop the alarm, only unlocking the car will stop it.
Also, after this happens, I can no longer set the alarm (pressing the lock button twice and hearing the car honk once) for usually at least a few hours if not a day. what happens is that i press the lock button and you hear the doors lock but if you keep hitting the lock button, the doors just keep locking, the car never honks.
I wouldn't do it myself, but I was wondering if it was even possible to have a remote start installed.
View 6 RepliesI'm getting a remote start system for Christmas and I'm looking at how to do the install myself. I know you need a bypass and an extra programmed key for the system to work. This is my problem, My car only came with one switchblade key so I would have to get one made. Basically if I do an immo defeat on my ecu which is tuned (not sure which company a po did it), will I be able to do the remote start without having to use a bypass and spare. Essentially if I do an immo defeat, in order to start the car they key would not have to be programmed, just laser cut, correct? Is it possible to do an immo defeat with vagcom or do I have to get a tuning company to do it. The car is an 01' gti AWW for reference. I'm planning on going gonzo stage 2+ in the Spring so I'm thinking about just waiting until then and getting the immo defeated with that, if it works with the remote start.
View 3 RepliesI have a 99 Jetta mk4 and the factory alarm appears to be draining the battery. If the car sits for more than a day with the alarm set the battery light will come on.
If I don't set the alarm it seems ok. I assume it is something with the alarm but I realize there could be some other issues contributing. For example there is a light on the radio that blinks. It obviously uses some power.
I have 3 specific questions.
1. Where is the alarm located and if I disconnect it will is screw up other things? i.e. will the car start and run. Will the remote keys work etc.?
2. Is is possible for ME to disable the auto door look feature. The manual says take it to the dealer but is there a switch or similar that I can access on my own?
3. What is a good battery that people recommend in this size? I noticed the oem factory battery is 575 CCA and I have seen replacements as high as 650 CCA..
It is starting to get cold where I live in Idaho, 22 this morning, and when I use the factory remote start on my 2011 the heater is not coming on as the owners manual says it should.
View 6 RepliesI have a 2007 Ford F-150 King Ranch, my auto start has been acting up recently I push the start button the horn beeps, then powers up, but then don't start, up until now it has been working fine. Also when I sit in the truck and put the back of the key(black piece) near the ignition and press the start button it fires up as normal...
View 2 RepliesI had been waiting a long time for a remote start solution to be available for my 2014 IS-250 with navigation. I finally saw idatalink released a firmware for their ADS-ALCA bypass module that allows you to add a remote start that is triggered by the factory keypad. It was a fairly easy installation and it started up right away. I do have car installation experience, but I didnt find the installation to be that difficult in general.
View 14 Repliesi just got my edelbrock performer rpm intake and my holley 4 barrel installed but it won't run...the only way i can get it to hit and run at all is to floor it like it's flooded...then it'll run for a second but will never rev up and get going like it should...so i watched some vids on youtube for setting mixture on holley's wich i was pretty sure about anyway...turned the idle mixture screws in to snug and then out 1 and a half turns. is this a symptom of a bad vacuum leak or is it something to do with the carb maybe not enough fuel?
it's a holley 4160...list-6619...which is 600 cfm...it's on a 302 with 3 speed.
So my remote and main key got into a washing machine...Put new batteries in it but no go. Car does not start with either main key or valet. When I unlock the driver side door with either key, engine does not start and alarm goes off immediately. From searching the forums I assume I have 15 seconds from opening door and I am well within 15 seconds. Remote should not be necessary as transponder used to validating key is a passive RFID in the key part.
Dealership so far has been unuseful. I told them I can't start the car and they said yeah come in and we'll program you a new remote. When I got there (by motorcycle) they told me they need the car. It's a 2000 Passat GLX V6.
So I got my C 4 and couldn't be happier. Now, the wife wants a few things extra... Remote start for the A/C or heat a few minutes before entering the car and alarm.
View 7 RepliesI have a 2011 camry and was wondering if I need a bypass module to install an alarm and remote start. Its an Autopage C3 rs-1100...
View 5 RepliesI just had a Viper 5704 2 way paging remote start alarm installed on my 2012 Fx4 Ecoboost and when the installer ran the wires from the inside of the cab through the firewall he went through the hole that the rubber grommet was in just to the left of the brake pedal. Instead of going through the grommet/plug, he pulled it out and ran the wires beside it and now the rubber plug will not seal and I can hear turbo/engine noise in the cab. Has alarm installed on a 2010 or newer F150 with this same layout and if so where did the installer run the wires through the firewall? Should I have them pull the wires out and run them through the center of the grommet like they should have done or have them make a slit in the rubber from the edge to the center (radius cut) and make the best seal possible?
View 14 RepliesToday while driving around on the back roads the radio signal faded in and out quite a bit. I don't remember it happening before like that. I was curious if a Pioneer head unit would have the same issue due to using the same antenna or if it's just the factory head unit causing the bad reception.
View 5 RepliesI am looking for a site that i can download a service manual with good wire diagrams. I want to install an alarm with remote start and need to know what wires go to what.
View 2 RepliesI've had an intermittent problem with my factory alarm going off for no reason at all. I replaced the Courtesy light switch on the driver's side hoping to stop my problem. Earlier I found the connector was barely on the button switch and after discovering that I thought the problem would stop. I feel like this car is possessed!
View 14 RepliesMy 08' Camry i4 LE has been locking the same way..... I press the lock button twice, then the car honks once, and everyone's happy.
About a week ago, my car started honking twice after I press the lock button twice. This hasnt happened in 1.5 years but it didnt really bug me.. at first.
My problem is... my car's alarm goes off randomly after I lock it. It's like someone pressing the panic button on my fob.. What is wrong with my car all of a sudden??
I read another thread and have disconnected the battery. I will wait an hour and re-connect to check again. I've also read somewhere that I might need a "latch and sensor replacement"..
