I installed my LEDs put in the fog trigger wire, did the vag com, and on my dash the rear fog icon pops up. BUT no rear fog, I still have a bulb out message as-well. I've triple checked all of my wiring today, and did not see anything wrong. I've tried replacing the bulb.
View 17 RepliesRecently there has been a series of problems popping up with the Prius. Its a 2003 model year.
- About four nights ago the warning icon and check engine light (picture below) popped up upon engine start-up and i noticed a weird idle. It seemed to idle rough. After about 20 seconds of idling the engine would shut off. After about 10 minutes and 6 or 7 attempts to restart the engine the warning lights disappeared and idle seemed to be restored.

- After this incident it seems like the vehicle is getting bad gas mileage. The picture below shows me getting an average of 25mpg. I was driving very conservatively. Driving the same way i usually do, i usually get 45-50mpg. The vehicle seems to be charging the battery more than usual.
So tonight I got the chance to install my H&R Rear sway bar on my car...let me start off by saying I was lucky enough to have a lift, air tools, all the correct tools, etc...now the frustrating part...i opened the box saw the bar and new bushings, figured this should be 100% straight forward 10 min job... the old bar came out in about 3 minutes...then I got the new bushings on the H&R Bar and went to put the factory brackets on...they wouldn't fit even close. Luckily I had a press so I pressed them on. Once I got the bar in the car I got the two top bolts started and could not for the life of me get the bottom two...its like they were 1/4in to low... Was I missing parts from H&R? also the factory caps/brackets seemed to sit off to the side of the new H&R bushings and there was no way to line them up straight, but I finally got everything on there..
View 18 RepliesJust installed a set of euro tails with rear fog (non-LED). I also have front fogs on my car. I used the following VDCS changes in Central Electronics to activate the rear fog:
Byte 3 - Bit 1 set to 1 (1 rear fog light)
Byte 3 - Bit 2 set to 1 (1 reverse driving light)
Byte 4 - Bit 6 set to 0 (Rear fog deactivated)
Byte 18 - Bit 3 set to 1 (Cold diagnose rear fog lights active)
All lights work correctly, but I still get bulb out warnings for all four fog/reverse lights, i.e.
Front Left Fog
Front Right Fog
Rear Left Fog
Rear Right Reverse
I have cleared all CECM errors and the warning light disappears, but as soon as the fog lights are used, it comes back.
I am going to install a BBK on the front of my car and I was wondering if I can take the larger front brakes and move them to the back of the car.
If not, any good set of drilled or slotted rotors for the rear brakes?
I am installing VWR Springs to replace worn stock components on my mk6 R. It appears that the previous owner slammed the car, and removed the "nipple" that holds the rear spring in place from the top. Both upper and lower spring isolators were present.
I am trying to find a name or part number for this unknown "nipple". I tried some combinations, such as "rear spring cap" and "rear spring centering guide". It looks like it would screw into the body, right above the springs themselves.
I just received both items today.. The CF spoiler seems a little bit twisted...but no big deal, I can bend it a little bit to fit...
How to install that spoiler? using 3M tape only? and also I cannot push the original side marker out...I pushed so hard and it didn't pop out...
How to remove/install a reflector on the right rear side of the 'lower' rear bumper? I don't see any screws. So, can I pop it out with a screwdriver? Or, is it attached from the inside?

View 12 RepliesSo the rear defroster tab has popped off the window. I purchased this kit from O'Reillys but when I clipped the wire back onto the tab it popped the tab right back off. I even waited 48 hours instead of 24 so it had plenty of time to set, even with the cooler temperatures. Okay, so I forgot about it until I took the stroller out and noticed the trim laying in the back of the X... but still, plenty of time to bond well. I'm thinking of calling a glass shop & seeing what they'll charge to reattach.
View 2 RepliesWhile I'm waiting for my new Touareg (a few weeks...), I'm asking if it's possible to install a DVD reader in the rear console (between the two front seats, useful for rear "children" passengers). I'm talking about this kind of DVD reader "all-in-one", with the 7" screen included (it folds inside when not in use). The size of the equipment is the standard A1 for Europe: 70 inch wide, 19.6 inch height and 73 inch deepth. Obviously, I'm thinking to install inserted in the rear console, below the air vents, in place of the controls for the 4 zone air conditioner that I didn't ordered.
View 5 RepliesI just got my car back from the dealer last night (the 4th time it's been in for service in under three months of ownership, pathetic). When I turned the car on this morning I got a blinking icon on the odometer. The icon is the same as the low tire pressure icon except the MFD doesn't show air pressure is low and the icon is flashing for the first minute or so. I checked out the tires anyway. When I tried to unscrew the valve cover the metal piece came right off leaving the inner rubber portion stuck over the valve stem. This was the same scenario for 3 of my 4 wheels. I'm assuming one of the fools from the service department put a death grip on the caps after refilling the tires (part of the "full circle service, tires/tpms had nothing to do with why my car was in). My question is, why this light is on? The pressure isn't low and there is nothing wrong with the way it drives. I'm stumped and don't want to have to bring my car back in. [IMG][URL]....
View 24 RepliesI installed the 2008 Scion xB rear anti-sway bar (part number PTR11-52091) on my Prius Saturday morning. For those interested in this mod, here are install instructions with photos of the process.
The 2008 Scion xB TRD rear anti-sway bar will fit a Gen III Prius.
So in the last 4 months, the GTi has lost about 1/4 of a quart of oil or less 3 times and the low oil light has popped up. Idk if I'm running her too hard too much but I can't find a leak. I'm taking off all mods and going to the dealership tomorrow but I have no faith in them, to be honest. I'm positive they are just gonna say they couldn't find an issue.

View 2 RepliesI have a 2011 GTI, has about 4000 miles on it. Sunday went for a quick ride down some FM's and on the hi-way. Got up to about 85mpg for about 10 miles, hit the exit back to the house which is only about a mile away. On that mile ride home I took it real easy maybe 35-45 mph decided to have a little AC also (outside temp 90F degrees).
I pulled into the garage sat and idled for about 30 seconds, on the MF display up pops the Cruise Control Malfunction icon ( amber on the MFI,But the owners manual says it's RED. it's a cruise symbol with a giant exclamation ) then it goes away. I looked at my cruise stalk, cruise was Off. I turned it on and up Pops the Malfunction Icon again then goes Off. Took the GTI back out and No Cruise malfunctions. Also, when I did finally park the Car both cooling fans were on for at least 4-5 mins after I had shut everything down.
Did I run my little GTI too hard? Is the Cruise control Malfunction icon like a nuisance message that doesn't really mean anything or, is it a sign CC it's already toast, or getting ready to go.
Is my screen fried? Cold weather came in and the screen died and the fuel icon showed up... Even tho I recheck if the guy lid is open...
View 9 RepliesI just had a heck of a day. I was using my weed whacker to clean up my front yard before the city got on my case- we got a bunch of rain so the desert is oddly very green. Anyway, I was working on the other side of my yard when I hear a sickening, loud pop sound. I turn off the trimmer and go to look at the Ex, thinking a rock somehow hit the door panel pretty hard. No damage. Weird, I think.
As I'm turning around, my eyes glance up to see... my driver's side rear door window in a million pieces being held together by the tint. Holy. Dang. My trimmer kicked up a rock which flew a good 25-30 feet and shattered my door glass.
So, I am planning on ordering a replacement glass online. I's it a very difficult job? I have done window glass before, but just in old trucks and cars- 1960 Falcon, 1969 F100, 1970 F500, 1976 Jaguar XJ-12. Never did a new truck.
Just popped on at exactly 97,600k, What could be some of the potential snafu's? Or is it just more preventative as it needs proper service. Will be taking it to Dealer, but just curious as to what it could be.
