Golf V R32 :: MKIV Versus MKV
Jun 29, 2006
I have read that the MKIV had a better suspension than the MKV 32 however, I was wondering if had a chance to race an MKIV R32 and see how big the performance gap is...

View 24 RepliesOk so me and my friend are arguing over whos a faster the Mk4 GTi 180hp or Opel Astra H 1.6T 180hp, they weight similar, equal hp and same torque but the Opel has 6speed gearbox! So my vote goes to Opel, Who would you think would win? Equal good drivers in both cars
View 2 RepliesMy R is coming up on 140k miles. The shocks and struts are pretty beat and it rattles badly. I'm really thinking about just replacing the suspension components with oe type stuff or is it really worth it to spend the extra money on a coil over kit? A little lower stance and some adjustability would be nice, but not super important to me. I'd have to get a lower end coil over kit too, so is it really worth it? Or should I just replace the stuff and be done with it?
View 1 RepliesI cannot get a rear wheel drive 350F sport in the northeast unless I order one and wait 3 months + for delivery. I never drive in snow or ice. I can get an AWD. I don't want the extra cost, weight and complexity of AWD. However I would consider it if the fun and handling factor was not much worse then the RWD.
View 11 RepliesI have a 2013 Prius III with the standard cloth seats. I would like to know an information whether the mounting for right hand drive and left hand drive seats is identical. Here is the reason I ask:
My wife needs more seat adjust-ability than the passenger side front-back and seat back tilting up and down. The seat height would be really useful to alleviate pain (especially during long drives) caused by a genetic disorder than involves joint dislocations and other discomforts of overly-elastic connective tissue (ligaments and tendons).
I have been looking around online for a chrome grille replacement for my 2010 SE Camry. Problem is every site I visit and 90% of the grilles on ebay only sell grilles that fit the LE or XLE model. They all say "Does not fit Hybrid or SE model" however they look the same size in pictures. Are the LE and SE Grilles really not interchangeable for 2010? Here is an example of one I am looking at:

what years and models are interchangeable with the 2010 SE model.
I am trying to convince my father into buying the VW Toureg. He has a Mercedes SUV, and he tells me that it is way too expensive for a VW. I like his SUV, but i own a VW Jetta GLI 1.8t. I love this car. My mom has a Merc. C230 Kompressor, and i guess thats the comparison to the Jetta, i hate her car.
View 24 RepliesDrove down yesterday it was drizzling and saw an SUV coming up rapidly behind me. Moved over to the middle lane and opened up as he trid to go past, we go to 130mph before traffic slowed me. As he cruised past in the fast lane I noticed the V10 TDI badge. Over 120 the wind resistance became a factor more for the Touareg than me.
View 1 RepliesLooking to buy a used bmw x3 (75K miles) 2006 model versus a toyota highlander limited hybrid 2010 with 65K miles. The bmw is priced at 14K, while the highlander is priced at 26K. Both cars drive good, clean records. However the hybrid I fear has hidden costs.
View 4 RepliesMy 2010 Prius just turned 11,000 miles. Recently with colder weather it has become a rattle machine. Last winter it did not rattle at all. I then rode in my friends 2007 with 115,000 miles on it and it was still solid and tight on the same cold weather day. Did the Gen II have better build quality with fewer rattles?
View 11 RepliesIf I want the luxury package then I'd have to go with18 inch wheels. I can do without that package but was curious about the different handling characteristics? I'm concerned about mpg and handling.
View 14 Replieswhy sometimes when I start my car it defaults to recirculate and other times fresh air?
I almost always leave it on fresh air but when I start the car it's often on recirculate. AC is off when this happens.
Same thing happens on my wife's Highlander but in no other car have I had this problem.
Well, I have a new friend who has a 2012 Honda Accord Coupe EX-L w/ Navi. He has about 1,100 miles on it since yesterday. When I first hung out with him, he made fun of the Prius, then test drove one, and loves it & wants one. He said "I wish I would have driven the Prius before the Accord."
View 10 RepliesIm very happy with the Prius that I have a 2010 V, its loaded with all of the options that were available at the time and I get a true 43 -46 mpg with my driving style and daily commute. The Prius averages more than twice the mileage I was getting with my other cars.
But I stumbled on the Lexus Cth and it seems its a Prius with a Lexus styled body and interior. The Lexus is a more conventional body style and seems to be a little better fit and finish on the interior but at a little less MPG. I tested a 2012 Cth with the F sport package over the weekend nd really liked it.
I was asking questions regarding the V10 TDI. I've recently narrowed down our second vehicle consideration to a T-reg and a Landcruiser. I realize I'm asking opinions from Volkswagen enthusiasts. I can purchase both brand new for roughly the same amount. Here are the pros of each, at least as I see it:
Touareg V10 TDI Pros:
1) The motor! Incredible power!
2) Fuel Mileage
3) Luxury Feel/Amenities
4) Exterior/Interior Style
5) Handling/Driving Characteristics
Landcruiser Pros:
1) Interior Room
2) Reliability
3) Cost of Maintenance/Ownership
4) Re-sale Value
5) Did I Already Mention Reliability?
I think off-road ability are close, with a slight nod to the T-reg but I doubt we would be able to use the difference in real world applications. So, would you agree or disagree with what's been listed. Since I'm having a difficult time deciding.
Any major differences between 2012 vs 2013 - looking at both for year end and wondering if there are any major diff's between the two or tweaks done to 2013s making favoring it over the 2012.
View 12 RepliesI bought a "rebuilt" 2wd AOD off craigslist for my bronco 2wd conversion that ended up needing re rebuilt due to wrong parts installed, since it was a bearing issue and worried about metal shavings I did not reuse the 2wd torque convertor and used the one from the 4x4 trans since I knew it worked. Are there any differences in a 2wd vs 4x4 convertors like stall speed to keep the motor running a little higher for off road performance.
View 1 RepliesRecently I posted a question asking which was the best bedliner to go with for my 2011 F-150. But now I've also started considering a bed rug. I won't to often haul things with this truck...And even when I do it'll most likely just be something like furnature, Nothing dirty, grimey or messey.
But what do ya'll think would be the better way to go? The LineX Xtra looks promising. But I think it might be overkill for my application.
Also when applying a bedliner what all is involved in the process? Do they scrape all the paint from you're bed and then spray it down? Or do they just spray over the paint?
my buddies just got a used 2015 sonata and I'm wondering who will win or what car has the advantage?
View 14 RepliesWe want to buy a Premium, but the interior color we want is only available on the Base. We want black on black available on the Base. The only black in the Premium includes the fake wood trimming. If we go with a Base we want to know what we are giving up.
I'm finding it quite difficult to finding a listing of the differences on a feature-by-feature basis between the Base and Premium models. There are general marketing terms but I'm not convinced it represents the complete delta.
For each number the computer says is there an exact match to what it means for computed. For example if the computer says 50mpg does that always calculate to x number calculated????
