Golf V R32 :: MIL With 3 Codes But Can't Find Accurate DTC Lookup

Jul 22, 2012

Got a MIL today, and the 3 codes I found are P0047, P0204, and C0204. Only reference to P0047 is for boost control solenoid, that can't be right. Is there a good place to look up our specific car's codes?

Also, whats the difference between Current DTCs and Pending DTCs? The reader I'm using shows these codes under pending.

Golf IV / Jetta IV :: Speedometer Reading Accurate Only Till Around 45 Mph

My speedometer reads accurate only till around 45 mph. The needle begins to float around gently, and the faster I go, the more discrepancy it reads. It may hang a while, floating around 60 and the speedometer app on my phone says I'm going 74.

The speed sensors were replaced for another issue a year and a half ago. The dealership initially wanted me to put a new transmission in it for $3800 after they said the trans was slipping past 45. Then they said something instead about a valve plate (could be wrong vernacular) for $1000 instead of an entire transmission.

When I finally told them that my cruise control is completely erratic, trying to track the needle movements with upshifts and downshifts, they said it's $200 in parts for the drive gears and that they were made with plastic that can wear out.

So I said I would sit on it, since the ideas about the issue seem to vary greatly, and my father set me up to go to a transmission shop to have the car checked out. They had it for two days and changed the fluid out but we can't fix your speedometer issue... take it to the speedometer shop, but btw we think your transmission is fine.

Now, do I take it back to the dealer for the drive gears, or do I take it to another specialist? I have seen people say all it needed were the drive gears replaced and a new sensor. My odometer seems to still be working. There is no issue with my gas gauge.

Golf IV / Jetta IV :: MFA And Climatronic Panel Don't Give Accurate Reading

My display on the MFA and Climatronic panel is really wrong (-44C now). I was taking a look at the sensor in the front left grille but the only thing that's changing into the readings with my Vag-Com is the outside temperature sensor but not the displayed temperature.

I didn't find any other sensor on my car. Nothing into the rain tray...

Golf IV / Jetta IV :: 2004 - Can't Find Drain Plug?

2004 Jetta 1.8T

Looking for the drain plug and I can't find it for the life of me..

There is a hex bolt on a black plate that is seemingly the lowest part of the whole front-underneath, but this isn't the oil, is it? It does have a washer, that hex bolt.

It's in front of the axle, right?

Which direction does it face?

Prius (Gen 3) :: Miles To Empty Not Accurate?

Where the Miles to Empty Display seems out of whack? Filled up my car last night and it gave an estimate of 508 Miles to Empty. Drove 40 miles in 2 different trips one of 8 another of 32 and the display is down to 442. Is this a common occurrence? I'm assuming its just because I didn't get as good of MPG as the computer was expecting but on the exit screen when I turned the car off it said I averaged 51mpg on the 32 mile trip and the 8 mile trip was 70mpg. I'm not "concerned" about it but it does throw me off and makes me think I might not be getting as good of MPG as I am being told on the exit screen.

Prius (Gen 3) :: OBD-II Speed More Accurate Than Display

I have previously noted that the Prius display of speed is about 1 mph higher than actual as measured by GPS and those ubiquitous street radar signs. However, the OBD-2 display using the Garmin Mechanic exactly agrees with the GPS. I wonder how this relates to the well known display mpg being 3mpg or so higher than actual measured by tank fill-ups.

Prius (Gen 2) :: Gas Gauge Is Not Giving Accurate Reading

I've been letting my wife drive the 2007 Prius since I've been cycling in to work. I got in the car last night and thought "Wow, almost a full tank". I then realized that only 1 pip was missing for 208 miles! The MFD was reading average mpg around 43, so this was bizarre. Usually the first pip drops around 110-120 miles.

By the time we got back home, I was around 220+ and 2 pips were gone. This is usually when half the pips are gone. Is this something I should be concerned about? Should I reset the gauge?

Chevrolet - S-10 :: 1995 - Gauges Are Not Accurate After Engine Swap?

I have a 1995 Chevy S-10 4.3 V6 TBI Z engine, manual trans 4x4 with 228,000 miles. I went through a long and expensive ordeal trying to fix an ignition problem. I won't get into the whole story but I went to 4 mechanics over 1.5 years. I finally have it fixed and running good. Last mechanic replaced the whole engine with a used one.

One of the quirks I have now is some of the gauges are not accurate since the engine swap. The new engine came out of a 1500 truck, not an S-10. The battery and oil pressure gauges are working fine. It's the speedometer and coolant gauges that are off. Speedometer is reading about 10+ mph above the actual speed and the temp is reading very low. Mechanic says the new engine wouldn't affect the gauges. The gauge needles are moving smoothly, not sticking or jerky. Is there any way to adjust them? Or maybe the sensors? Mechanic says I have to replace the whole cluster. I don't see any aftermarket ones for this truck.

Ford Excursion :: Shifter Linkage Is Very Stiff And Not Accurate

My daily driver is a Ford pickup. But we recently acquired a 2003 Excursion.

-5.4L V8
-3.73 rear end
-2WD

It is an Eddie Bauer, and despite its age and 150k miles, it is in really nice shape. It runs and shifts very smoothly. So far, we've replaced the rear glass hydraulics, put 4 new tires and a wheel alignment on it, replaced one brake line from the front to the rear, replaced a cracked rim and one missing wheel hub cap. The driver's seat base cushion leather is ripped, but I procured a replacement leather seat cushion cover which is brand new and a perfect match to the original two-tone leather.

Otherwise, the radio works fine, A/C front and rear is ice cold. The shifter linkage is very stiff and not accurate. I'm guessing the switch selector on the outside of the transmission is failing?

The driver's side power window does not work, and the reverse sensing system has only worked once. The switch always says "off" and if you push it, it won't stay in the "on" setting.

But anyway, here it is .....

Lexus RX 2004-09 :: Cannot Get Accurate Reading On Dipstick Of 2008 RX350

I can't get an accurate reading on my dipstick of my '08 RX 350. I just tried after it sat all night and the oil is over the full marks. I just had the oil changed at Lexus and they used my 6 quarts of Mobil 1 and I told them not top it off to 6.5 quarts because I wanted to.

The tech said he did not add more than what I gave him. I just called Lexus and they said, yes it is difficult to get an accurate reading for some reason. He said check when the oil is warm and has sat for 5 minutes. Any others have trouble reading the oil dipstick accurately?

Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: Speedometer Is Accurate To Within 1 Mph Or So

I've got a 99 F-250 7.3 with the 6 speed manual. My speedometer is accurate to within 1 mph or so. However when compared to a GPS unit, my odometer is off by about 50%...meaning it registers approximately 1 mile for every 2 traveled.

I was under the impression the mechanism that results in the speed being displayed is the same one driving the odometer and therefore if one was off, the other would be (conversely, if the speedo is accurate, so would be the ODO). How do I resolve this issue?
