Golf V R32 :: Headlights Did Not Level
Jul 14, 2011
Last night i got into my car and my headlights did not level. I recently lowered the car (a month ago) and the headlights were fine until yesterday. I had not touched the sensor or motor when i lowered the car and i am confused about why nothing happened until last night.

Sometimes when I turn on the headlights, they do a dance. They level themselves up and down, in and out. Other times, they just come on.

My headlights won't self-level upon startup anymore. Added to this, the light bulb warning light is lit, and I'm getting the message: "cornering light (AFS) failure". Bayside VW checked it out when I had it in for its 30,000 mi service, and found "non VW coding". Oh, yeah, that. DRL disabled through VAGCOM makes dealerships unhappy. The tech hypothesized that the disabled DRLs confused the car's computer, but the DRLs had been disabled for some months before this problem appeared. If it matters to you, the ECU is GIAC stage one. Other VAGCOM mod is windows up/down with remote.

I noticed yesterday while driving the RX (not my daily driver) that when I turned on the A/C to bi-level (chest & feet) it only blew cold air at the chest level while at the feet level it was warm air. If I remember correctly from the past that the feet got cold too so I tried it with the vents only at the feet, still warm air. I even checked to make sure that I didn't have it on bi-level with defroster in use.

Basically, when my oil level in my GTI gets too low, I notice that it'll trip the EPC light depending on how low the engine senses the oil to be, and sometimes it'll cut power to my car. every time I get an oil change and I'm topped off, it runs perfectly fine, it's only when the oil level I guess gets too low. I don't know really how the two are connected.

I got the entire bag setup done, air lines ran, struts mounted, everything wired, air pumps tested, then the dreaded E-Level sensors....

Level in the tank going down? I don't appear to have any leaks but it's now down to the "Min" level cold.

My 2013 gti has 2077 miles on it. Today I pulled it into my bay at work and checked its oil level while cold, it was at the min line. After my ~ 15 minute drive home i checked it again, and it was about 1/3 up between min and max...... Are they typically at "max" from the factory, or just varying in between? This is the first time I've checked the oil in it since i got it...

So I was waiting in line at a drive through, because Fast Food is the breakfast of champions. And suddenly my Oil Light started blinking. It beeped, then blinked. It didn't stay on solid.
So I figured I was suddenly low on oil. I then noticed my engine temp was pegged to the max. So I abandoned my Egg McMuffin (Not an easy choice by the way) and I pulled out of line into a parking spot and shut down my engine.
I gave it a few moments to cool down and checked the oil level. In the past my oil light has come on if I was low on oil and a 1/2 quart or so was all I needed. But after 20 minutes of cooling down, I checked the oil level and it was fine. Not even close to low.
I made some calls, talked to some people, ate a McMuffin and checked the level again. It was still good. So I restarted the car now that it was totally cooled down. It warmed up fine, right to normal temp, no overheating, no oil light and all seemed well. So I drove it home (About 12 miles) without issue.
Also, Prior to this issue (within a couple months) I switched to Synthetic Blend. And it may just be a coincidence, but my AC also failed about 3 days ago.

Installed a new dampener on the front passenger side. As soon as we lowered it off the jack it was higher. Pulled out of the driveway and lowered a bit, drove around the block settle a little more.
Now, three days later, it is still not level. Do I just need to keep driving it and let it settle? Will it not settle as low as the other because it is brand new and the rest of the kit is a year old? If so is the best thing just to just play with the other three corners till its level?

Just did an oil change on the R32 and while the oil level looks fine (if anything a little high at the moment) we can't get the oil level warning icon to stop blinking on. I don't get it. We have level up to where the manual says it should be but the icon will not stop blinking on and off.

I am a new vr6 owner. I just purchased mine not to long ago. It seems to have developed a pretty mean misfire on Cylinder #4. It is also showing a low compression level of 90 on cylinder #4. all my other cylinders show somewhere between 105-110. I replaced my wires and my coilpack. It did not improve anything, infact, my car seems to run worse now. I am baffled as to what can be causing my misfire.

My coolant level keeps dropping really low underhood and the light comes on on the dash, but I went and bought coolant, opened the hood, and the level was back to normal. Where is it all going? Should I add any when it's low if it's coming back? This just seems weird.

4000 miles and I got the Check Oil Level light come on! I know it should not be on this early on. I have not had the 5k service yet. What oil I need to put in there to top it off till the oil change?

My car has 96,000 miles on it now and I have been having some trouble. 3 weeks ago I was having a lot of trouble cold starting the car. I had the oil changed and the spark plugs. I then had VW replace the black ECT with the green top one and the engine light went off for 48hours then it came back on.
After the ECT was replaced I did not have any trouble starting that car, but the car was not running right. I would put it into second and it will barely move. The thermostat does not become level until 10 minutes after driving it for a while.
I have an appointment in the next few days to have VW look at it. What else could it be?

About a month ago I noticed the coolant level looked a little low. I attributed it to the fact that the engine was warm after driving. Tonight the coolant light illuminated and the mfd states the level is low. Sure enough it's quite low.Is this normal for the R? I know my MK5 GTI burned oil like crazy. Should I be concerned?

In the last 24 hours my fuel level sensor is failing intermittently. After filling yesterday the fuel gauge went to zero and the MFD read "---" for any range or fuel calculations. Rebooted the car ( ) and it came back on, then off again. today it seems to be working, but I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop.

I just did my 60k km service at dealer. And in the next morning, I found out that they pour too much G12 coolant into the reservoir. It is way more above the maximum line. I have booked another service appointment on next monday, but I am just wondering if the car still safe to drive?

I removed my washer fluid reservoir and saw that I can just twist together the wires and it would keep my light off. That lasted a few days. And now the light is on. I tried soldering them to see if it was a bad connection but still the light is still on. How I can get it off?
