So, simple question. I have a squeaky driver side door.
I'm interested in some color matching door grease. I've always hated the black gunky door grease. Why? Cause I'm OCD. I saw on the MKVI R [on CW anyways] their door hinge grease was color matched.
If this is too absurd, any recommendations for removing/cleaning the grease currently on the door hinge and replacing it? It comes off as straight forward.
Randomly my driver side door hinge squeaks....

View 7 RepliesSo I've noticed a problem. When I go to lock my doors with the keyfob my drivers side door doesn't lock. Manually I can turn the key and lock it. Now what's weird is my drivers door will lock when I press the lock button on the inside of the door(the button on the handle). So I'm pretty sure the actuator isn't bad since the door will lock via the inside button, maybe I'm wrong though? Not really a super bad problem but annoying nonetheless.

Problem: I have always had problems with the electrical system since a little after I bought the car. For example, after unlocking the driver's side door with either key, and starting the car, my hazards would flash and alarm would sound (car thinks I'm trying to steal it). I fixed that by disabling the alarm.
Just recently however, I locked my car as usual (pressed the button on drivers side door locking all doors except for drivers side and then manually locking the drivers side door). When going back to my car the next morning, I put the key in drivers side door and turned--- NOTHING. The key (both fob and valet) turns both ways but the drivers side door will not unlock and I am stuck getting locked out frequently.
I have a 2006 Honda Ridgeline with just shy of 120,000 miles on it. I love this little truck and have have no real problems with it at all, except the drivers seat belt. The problem is that when you pull the seat belt out to put it on, it squeals so loudly that it hurts my ears! Obviously I can't squirt oil on it, but is there anything that can be done to quiet it down without affecting its function?

At first I thought it was on just windy days, then it started to get worse every day. I'm taking it in to vw to check the seals around the door, but I'm not real certain this is the issue since after visibly inspecting the car the seals look pretty solid
View 12 RepliesThere is a creaking sound coming from my driver's side door only when turning right. It sounds like it's specifically coming from the strike plate or latch area. I've pinpointed it to the door because it doesn't happen when I slightly open it but leave it hinged.
View 15 RepliesI just picked up an R32 a couple weeks ago, and I've noticed that occasionally when using the remote door locks that the driver's door refuses to lock/unlock. When locking, the alarm doesn't arm as I assume the car doesn't think the door is closed. When unlocking, well, it just doesn't unlock. In both cases if I use the key in the door, everything works nicely.

View 20 RepliesI just replaced both driver and passenger side window regulators (they were about to fail but still worked) Prior to replacing them, my driver side door had a faint, yet repetitive rattle. I was under the impression a new window regulator would fix the issue. Needless to say, it didn't solve the rattle problem (though the windows are now firmly in place). I suspect it's coming from within the door panel itself. I've peeked inside the door panel without fully removing it and could find nothing. Maybe it's something loose that needs to be secured? I swear it's like Chinese water torture hearing that rattle and it's driving me nuts.
Edit: Holding the glass down, or holding/pushing on the door panel does nothing at all.
So my brand new 2012 2.5 with 143 miles already has an issue. Having a single pop sound from somewhere near the drivers door, maybe the seat, or door frame? Also I think it mostly happens when accelerating from a stop. Maybe around 3-10 mph. Pretty sure its an interior thing, not drivetrain related.

I heard this noise on my mkIV GTI as well. When I unlock and open the car in the AM I hear a strange "whirring" sound. It sounds like a cell phone vibrating on a hard surface. I don't think anything is broken since it has done this on two different cars. I just want to know what it is. The sound happens as soon as I open the driver-side door.
View 4 RepliesI finally got rid of my 2.0 and upgraded to the Vr6 5-speed. The other day my driver side rear door just came open. I tried closing it but it just bounce back open. I tried those methods of YouTube to see if that works but still nothing. Now i had to tie my door shut and experience my car not being locked completely. My alarm would go off and everytime i drive my car, i have to deal with that annoying ding the car makes when the doors are open.
View 1 RepliesPassenger side and trunk work just fine. Drivers side door no longer unlocks with the remote. Passenger side and trunk work just fine. Fresh batteries and all. I forgot how inconvenient it was not having a remote to unlock.
