Golf V R32 :: Fuel Light Come On

MKV R32.
First off the gauge would drop to empty and fuel light would come on.
Replaced both sending units and the gauge was working from about 1/2 a tank to almost empty like is use to.
I fill the car up and now the gauge goes to just over 1/2 a tank showing but its full.
It will not read above half and even the miles to empty read about 150-170 ish on a full tank.
Have not used the fuel to under 1/2 yet to know if the reading will be correct after I use up more than 1/2 a tank.

I've got a '13 CW Loaded 4DR. Its got just under 40K miles. Tune wise its the STG2+ from I.E., been tuned for maybe 10K miles. I was fueling up and I always tighten the cap correctly as Oregon has Fuel Transfer Technicians, AKA People who don't care whether your fuel cap is on right or not. So soon after the fuel cap light came on, pulled over and tightened it again. Light went away. Next fuel fill up, same thing. Third fuel up, same fuel cap light and then CEL came on.
Ive got VAGcom and checked for codes and got the small leak detected twice and then the large leak detected code. So I was thinking it was just a cap. I swapped gas caps with my brothers MK4 R32 to maybe get lucky and the code returns. Thats impossible for it to fall too, so I dug deeper. I checked the N80 valve as I remember those being an issue on 1.8t and old Flows, So i pinched off the line to it and performed the test again, and bam, no more code for large leak.

I live 3 hours from the nearest VW dealer and the fuel cap light has been coming on randomly although it is secure, and yesterday I filled up at my normal station, I filled it up to the first click on the pump and fuel started pouring out from underneath the car I probably lost over 1/2 gallon. I did have the fuel tank recall done maybe 7k miles ago and all has been well.

I found a couple of threads on this, but apart from a couple of long sentences with no punctuation, i couldn't find anything conclusive. Last week, a couple of days after i last filled up, i got this:
When i got home i did indeed check the cap and it was tight. So i removed it, wiped the top of the filler neck and replaced it. All was well. Last night i get the same, again a couple of days since my last fill:
So, what gives?

I got one this morning and the thing never went away. and yes, i checked my fuel cap. How to remedy this issue or do I need to take it to the dealers.

So my 7.3 started sputtering and lost power, died on the side of the road. I wasn't far from home put about 8 gallon of diesel in the tank with a couple of fuel jugs and it fired right up.
Gauge was reading 1/8 of a tank and low fuel light did not come on. (low fuel light comes on when you start) Gauge came up to about 1/2 after putting fuel in.
What happened? Gauge was always reliable and low fuel light always did work. Only work done to fuel system was had new tank straps put on a couple of months ago.

During recent trip to WITW 2011, I started smelling fuel vapor after stopping and getting out of the car. The smell was easily noticeable near right rear wheel which is obviously at the fuel filler door and neck.
Also, at one time the fuel level showed tank 3/4 full, but after filling it up I discovered that it was nearly empty with appx. 3 Gallons left. After filling the car back up to full, the fuel level went back up showing full, however the fuel vapor odor stayed the same on the way back home.
I have scanned the car and no codes.
Inspected under the car for fuel leaks and found none.
Removed access cover over fuel pump under rt rear seat and did not see any signs of leaks.
Removed rt quarter liner to visually inspect, but did not see anything unusual.
Which component could cause vapors to escape if faulty? R32 now has 31k on it.
I searched and read about possibly faulty fuel sending unit causing faulty fuel level reading, so I will be checking that next. However, no mention about fuel vapor problems.

R's at the dealer today for a faulty fuel float sensor, and they just called to let me know my vehicle has the wrong fuel pump in it. Seems mine has the pump for the Golf/Rabbit with the 4 cylinder engine and they need to keep the car until the part is in.

I recently had my fuel pump replaced in my 2005 GTI ... twice. Both times, the fuel gauge no longer shows a full tank, and doesn't show empty tank correctly. Is there some way to reset the gauge? Is the pump somehow tied to the gauge, or did the mechanics mess the float up when they changed the pump? Sadly I had it repaired somewhere other then the dealer.

Changed fuel filters today. Now my water in fuel light is coming on. But the truck is not running any different no sputtering or anything. ????? Could this be human error

I have a 2004 F150 XLT 5.4 L 79,000 miles. Yesterday i was driving home turned a corner and the low fuel light came on and the fuel gauge is well below empty. I had approx 1/2 tank of fuel when it happened. I have since filled tank all the way but the gauge will not move and low fuel light stays on. Everything else is working fine! I have never run the truck low enough on fuel to make the dummy light come on.....

Today I noticed my fuel gauge giving a low fuel light. I had just fill up 50 miles earlier. Stop fr fuel anyway and could only put 1 3/4 gallons in so the tank is full.
After fueling the gauge went up off the low fuel mark about what I had put in. The only other consideration was the batteries were down and charged last night.
Question. What do I look at first?

So my fuel light started blinking after 480 miles. How much more can I drive it? The display shows 30 miles left before fill up but I read in the manual that when the fuel light starts blinking there is 1.6 gallons left so should that be like 75 miles left. Just wondering. To be on the safe side, I went to fill up.

About a week ago I got the fuel cap light on a steep hill in San Francisco. Next fill up it looked like the cap might have been a little loose. Can't remember exactly. A few days after the first warning I got a solid check engine light. I have 110K miles. I've had the coil packs replaced twice and the check engine light flashed when that was the culprit.
I've driven the car 4-5 times about 5 miles and the light hasn't gone off on it's own. It is a real hassle to take it to the dealer and I don't have much time. So:
1. Will it clear itself of the issue goes away, or must it be cleared at the dealer?
2. Any other V8 04' had the same issue?

I just arrived home from a 100 mile trip and I noticed a huge fuel leak, it is under the gas cap. I opened up the gas cap and I hear a noise coming from the inside of the tank so I just closed it and moved away.

When smelling the oil in the filler cap, it smells a bit like unburnt fuel. Is that normal? It is not super strong but noticeable.

About three weeks ago while accelerating in 2nd gear my car got a jolt. Then it happened again, then once more. Then I was able to reproduce it while watching RPMs- it happened around 4.5K. Now it happens almost every time when I floor it for 3-4 seconds in 2nd or 3rd. Did some runs with VCDS today and determined that both low fuel pressure (which sits around 5 bar at idle) and rail pressure (which sits around 50 bar at idle) drop sharply when this jolt happens. Low pressure stays in the 5-6 range then dips below 3 bar range. Rail pressure goes way up while accelerating and then there is sudden vertical drop on the chart while the car is in still in boost.
Fuel system is stock except for the fuel filter/pressure regulator which I swapped recently. The new filter is 6.6 bar just like the original was, and it came from the dealer. The prevailing thought is that my lift pump has reached end of its life.

I had my r on dyno today to see same numbers, but injectors or cutting off at 15psi.. and runs lean at high rpms. I think 550cc injectors go up to 18psi??

Recently purchased a used 02 Golf 2.0 and the engine light has come on with low (around 1/4) fuel, and after i fill up, a day later it turns off by itself.. Next time it happens ill bring it to the dealer just to have the code scanned. I've read the cat's commonly go on these cars, which is a hefty fix.. Its just weird to me it only comes on with low fuel.
