Anyway after 40k my r cooling fan make really loud noise while idling. As i checked under the hood i only see one big fan is running. Are two fans suppose to run??.. I run a obdii test no code what so ever.
View 3 RepliesI recently noticed that when I release the parking brake on our new 15 F-Sport it make a loud noise. It's hard to explain, but it kind of sounds like a spring being released with a clunking sound. (Sorry for the weird description).
When I press the brake to set it I am not pushing it all the way to the floor or forcing it at all. I am just using normal pressure to apply it.
Well my girls car is acting up again. when you make left turns, you can hear this real loud popping, almost cracking noise coming from the passenger side front tire. its a 06 passat with 88k miles on it. What is wrong with it??
View 4 RepliesOur 1995 Toyota Camry shakes and makes a loud rattling noise while driving, but not every time I drive the car. The rear seat of the vehicle, especially feels the shake. The rear tires have been replaced and aligned, but still the shake/noise persists. Our mechanic has not been able to recreate the noise. It has occurred in the winter and summer with or without the heater and/or air conditioning on or off. Sometimes the shaking is so severe, I am afraid of what will happen, but I will stop at the next light, sit for a minute or two, and when the light turns green, the car goes, no shaking involved - everything is fine. I typically drive in town so speed is only 45 mph or less. The car has only 137,000 miles, and is well-maintained.
View 2 RepliesFan is pretty clean. Before re-assembly it will be blasted with ~100 psi from an air compressor. Driving around like this is fine for a while to check diagnostics. How noisy is normal? This is the first time I noticed the noise.
We've owned this silver 2011 Gen 3 from new and it now has 37K miles after about 3.5 years. Today it's ~70F in Atlanta, so not hot compared to how it will be soon. We had the s/w recall done about six months ago and I've possibly not driven the car since (have a few cars).. my wife drives it most days and did not notice probably due to music but I felt it was very loud like there was hole in the side of the car (first thought was some vent to the outside became stuck open but the vent near the auxiliary battery is fine).
Is there a way to read the fan speed via Android Torque and Bluetooth OBD? Should I disassemble the entire length of the venting? Might there be something inside there causing a blockage?
So my brothers 2003 jetta make a noise after steering one way and then the other while driving around town. We jacked up the car and opened the hood and when I pushed the wheel in and out from the 12 and 6 position the shock and the shock tower had excessive play between each other. I'm no expert so I told him to get a second opinion.
He did and the local shop said it's the strut tower. Just checking if this adds up? I'm pretty good with wrenching, and I saw a u-tube vid on replacing a strut assembly. So, I think I can get it except for the spring compressing.
I put on etc red stuff and RB front rotors a few hundred miles ago. When I brake at highway speeds the brakes make aggroaning noise. The wheel and brake pedal do nother vibrate but the cabin does a little. What can this be?
View 4 RepliesSometime when I make a sharp turn (such as turning out of a parking lot) I hear a "pop or click" noise coming from the front end. I cant tell whether this is normal or not and I wanted to know if this was a sign of anything serious. The car only has 70k miles and is in pretty good shape. Still stock suspension.

View 24 RepliesWhen I lock my doors my factory alarm no longer beeps to acknowledge it is set. If I hit the panic button the flashers flash, but there is no sound.
Previously I would have to open and shut the hatch on my car periodically to get the alarm to beep, but that no longer works. I checked the central locking fuses and the alarm fuses (two 15v's buried under covers above all the relays). Those are fine.
If it were just the beep no working after locking the doors I would guess the hatch switch, but there's no sound from the alarm on panic (and the horn works fine).
When I go really slow like less than 10 mph and turn my wheels, my struts creek and make noise. Lowered on a H&R coilover kit. I bought car with it last year i am second owner so the suspension is getting old. Possibly old as car is installed when 1st owner bought it in 04. i think the struts are just going bad.

The spring-clicking kinda noise only happens when i make a sharp right turn at low speed and seems to be coming from the driver's side. So i though bad outer cv joint.
Well, I put on a brand new OEM unit last night and noise is still there.
Searched and posted to the Facebook group. Figured I'd cover all bases by posting here too. The noise my cooling fan makes is now noticeably louder than it was in the past. Mentioned to my shop and they said it has two stages, and that perhaps the first stage is no longer functioning, so only the second stage is running.

I do have a question however. In the 2009, both front doors make a very loud clunk when closed as if a very large piece has broken off on the inside.
When I press and hold the brake and lightly release the pressure. The brakes would make this loud squeal. This happens when the car on or off. Just found out today that if I have to stop really suddenly, it makes the same noise. I have an rx450h w 42k miles. Any thought?

The engine has started to make a loud whining sound recently. I replaced the belt and tensioner since it was original and had 93,000 miles on it. The sound is still there.
The sound increases with rpm but doesn't change when you turn the steering wheel.
The engine starts and runs smoothly with plenty of power.
Just bought a 2013 GS 350 FSport. Noticed the cooling fan runs kinda loud. Seems to run a little louder than prior cars. Had the car inspected at a Lexus dealer before purchase. They didn't say anything about it.
View 4 RepliesDrove my son's '01 Santa Fe and the AC is not cooling. The compressor seems to be working but there is a clicking sound coming from under the dash on the passengers side. The clicking is louder when you turn up the speed of the fan. The coolant does not need to be charged.
View 2 RepliesMust preface this by saying I drive A LOT... about 600-1K per week for work, so unfortunately my Tiguan takes a beating. Bought it new (62 miles on it) in 8/2012. Had major misfire issues around 68-70K and had to get it towed. (AAA guy said Tiguan owners should know it is difficult to tow and required my husband to drive it up on the truck). Next day I replaced the ignition coils, spark plugs, and got an oil change and dealership was nice enough to have it covered under part of a maintenance service package and only paid about 600 incl. labor which was nice. Been religious with oil changes and some big service items.
Car was working fine until about 95K, when the engine and the cooling fan started to sound extra loud. Then at 98K service and oil change (2 weeks ago), I had them check the tires anyways because I usually get new tires around 50-60K of driving. Dealership said the loud driving around 20-40 mph was due to the wear of the tires and I needed new brakes on both front and back. I understood that and needed new tires anyway. I set up an appointment to get them done at another place and the other place told me I only needed rear brakes and new tires.
Since last week it seems the turbo timer & cool down sounded a little strange (extra loud, extra fluttering sound near the front wheels, and yesterday was not making the cooling down sound after it was parked and turned off). Then Yesterday engine light turned on and VW couldn't take me for a week and a half!! Took it this morning to a repair shop I trust for years (but not VW specific) said the diagnostic showed it was a turbo issue so I will have to go back to the dealership next week anyways.
Getting all new tires with rear brakes today with transmission oil change. But very unhappy that this is happening. When I go back to the VW dealership? Hoping it is just the turbo timer which is a less expensive fix than the entire thing. Also any recommendations with service/maintenance for a Tiguan with climbing miles? Worst part is I just reached 100K miles from my last service 2 weeks ago. Just figured I'd list everything since most people don't have this many miles on their 2012 Tiguans SE 4Motion yet.
I have a loud ticking noise (not the normal injector noise) that just started out of nowhere. The car felt fine even while making the noise. I have 97000 miles on her and this is the first time she's let me down. I'll take a video tomorrow. Any common problems come to mind?
