When i am driving more enthusiastically, i notice when i make, say, a 90 degree turn and then push the gas pedal down midway through the turn, i get a clunkish sound or a stutter. Its not loud and i can only feel it through the steering and through the car. It almost feels like it is shifting power to the rear, but i would think that it would do it smoother....
View 1 RepliesI recently had my rotors replaced and when I left the garage I noticed I had to press the brake farther than normal. A few days later, I have to press the brake pedal almost all the way to the floor. My brakes sound like there is an air leak when I push the pedal. Sometimes it stutters at the top of the push.
First question is what could it be? The second question is, could this have been caused by the rotor replacement? Seems awfully coincidental.
I've had my R since late mid-summer, and one of the first things I noticed was this clunk sound when reversing into my parking spot and when making an aggressive sharp turn. Usually Left.
After reading multiple threads on this topic, I came to the conclusion that it was my sub-frame and the bolts need replacing. I got in a GB for the tyrol subframe stiffening kit after reading some good reviews/responses.
Today, on my day off, I finally went to a mechanic to get this installed. I just changed my mechanic, and this was my first visit to the guy hes had over 10 years experience at vw and just opened up his own shop. He did a great job, torqued the bolts to spec, made me drive around, do some pulls in 2nd and 3rd gear, reverse forward etc.
So hes about to pull the car back in to retorque and.... CLUNK...
Get in the car, reproduce the sound, get the car back up on the hoist... and at this point I'm expecting the worse. He takes my control arms off, checks the end links...
Brings the car down, and the clunking sound is louder than ever. It was the weathergaurd. When I turned on the wheel it was pulling it out and when I straightened the wheel it was popping it back into place, making a big clunk sound.
This was the exact sound that I was hearing, thinking it was my subframe. The bolts that came out were not stretched or bent out of shape like the ones you see in other reviews. They're actually in great shape. I'm glad I did the Tyrol kit and do not regret it, and I definitely feel a difference when I went into some aggressive turns.
Just noticed a clicking noise every time I push the clutch pedal down, I had my wife push the pedal while I listened under the hood and no noise it's coming from the clutch assembly under the dash! It's a 2013 only 4000km's on it so it's not like anything should be worn from over use etc. It's when I had the radio off driving I heard it, not super loud but more curiosity if it's normal noise from a clutch assembly.
As well the odd time I hear well my wife heard and pointed it out to me, when I push the brake pedal (more when we get in the car in the morning after sitting overnight) the same kinda sound more like when brake pad's are gently popping loose I guess you could say!? Like I said its mainly only after sitting for awhile, but we did hear it the odd time just as I go to slow down and only a quick 'click' again not deadly or anything more annoying that the car is brand new and we went brand new cause we were tired of creepy older cars we'd previously driven! I'm wondering if that may be exactly why its doing it since its new and need's to be used a bit to loosen up, this is the actually the first brand new no previous drivers car I've had!
Last night I jumped into my Treg to move it into my garage. When I pushed the brake pedal to move the gear selector out of park, I heard a whooshing sound. Like the sound of a bellows-type foot pump I use to inflate my dinghy. I could also feel a slight amount of movement in the transmission lock button on the top left side of the shifter when doing this.
Now I'm noticing this noise whenever I apply the brakes. It doesn't appear to affect braking performance, but does have me wondering. I'll have the dealer check this out when I take the Treg in for the recent recall (got my notice yesterday).
I am a first time owner of a 2015 VW Golf TSI and TDI, previously drove an Acura RSX.
I am noticing on both cars, more so in the TSI, that off a dead stop, when I push the gas pedal there is a hesitation/acceleration delay that I am not used to.
Is this normal? I just want to make sure that nothing is wrong with my cars as I am not well versed in this stuff.
Also, if it is normal, what is the cause behind this? and can it be modified to remove this lag?
I just changed all my flex lines to stainless steel and my pads and rotors were replaced. I had some issues with calipers dragging. I used a power bleeder to bleed the brakes all the way around. Now my pedal feels really weird. If I push the pedal fast it brakes hard then it goes to the floor. If i just push it soft, it will just slowly go to the floor without braking at all.
View 3 RepliesEvery day I make a u-turn around the median in order to get to our driveway...which means I turn the steering wheel all the way to the left. As I turn the wheel and drive, there is a clannnngKK sound on the driver's side from somewhere near the front. I wondered if there is something getting hung up/caught "under there" but have no real working knowledge (obviously) of my truck's anatomy. It only makes this noise when I make this u turn. I've not heard it any other time.

If I am driving and turn on, it does not work. Seems that it trys to come on, kicks compressor for maybe a second then waits 5 seconds and trys to kick again. The pressures are high but in green (OK), when I first saw this I added a little Freon , it did not change characteristic.
When it does not work the rad-fan comes on and blows, When it works the rad fan blows as it should.
This is a 4-cyl 2.0 GL and does not have climate control...
My R has been giving me some trouble lately. First I had some issues, I thought were clutch related.
-A loud clunk when releasing clutch pedal (only when engine running) and sometimes when depressing it too.
-Randomly changing clutch biting point when driving hard. So e.g. when revving through 1st and 2nd gear the clutch would bite much lower than usual. (This was so weird.)
-Whistling sound when changing from 1st to 2nd gear.
Replaced the clutch, flywheel, pressure plate and the TOB and bled the system several times. Also new solid DLI motor mounts and new oem dogbone mount.
There was some side-to-side play on input shaft that I was told is not a big deal. Also this gearbox has always been much louder than other cars Ive driven.
Now that weird changing clutch biting point is gone but other issues are still there. And now, because of the lightweight smf and the motor mounts the gears shatter and whine so much more on low revs and during engine braking. I know 02m s tend to do that but its so loud I am a bit worried.
If I am going under 15mph or so and turn the wheel left or right i hear a small "clunk" sound. It happens when i get the wheel to about 2 and 3 when i turn right and about 10 and 9 when i turn left... What could this be? Also i do not hear it when I am going over 20mph or so ...
View 24 RepliesWell my brake pedal is stuttering while pushing down. Have an abs light. Pulled codes. Left front sensor issue. Would this cause my pedal stutter? Removed #10 fuse in cabin and it stopped. So did the speedo. So thinking before I dive into a master cylinder or brake booster....replace sensor? So do I get the 4wd sensor or the 2wd?

I am finding that my GTI's downshifts with the DSG are extremely jerky. Its a 2012 with close to 15,000 miles and whenever I come to a stop, light at a red light or something, the shifts are really rough and sometimes I even get a "clunk" sound. Now, this being said, if the car is in D and while slowing down to stop I tap the paddle to downshift once, suddenly the stops are smooth as butter.

I have no sound when driving the car, only ONE big clunk and the car needs to be park for a while. No sound when I start from a dead stop.
Here is what I have observed:
It does it when I'm in reverse and I drive out of my driveway. The sound appear most of the time when the 2 rear wheels pass over the mini bump between my driveway and the street and I start to turn the steering wheel.
I've tried turning the steering wheel before moving the car after it has been parked for a while and no sound. At the office, the parking is inclined a little bit so the front is lower. When I back off, sometime I heard the clunk. I don't remember having hear the sound when I start in first gear, even park after a while, only when I back off.
I have changed so far:
Suspension, Kw V2. Not a big drop. I can still see the whole tire . last month
Tyrollsport Caliper bushing. Last summer
Tyrollsport Subframe bushing and bolt, torque to spec + 1/4 turn. last month
ECS disc and pads last summer
Inner tie rod both side. last month
Control arm bushing. last month
I have a 93 subaru impreza manual that when I turn the key on and push in the clutch it wont turn over. The coolant fans kick on and stay on and so i retrieved the codes and the coolant temp sensor was the dtc so I replaced the sensor and cleared the code but the fans still come on and the engine still does nothing. Also I can gear clicking noises throughout the engine compartment and dont know where its coming from.
View 8 Replies The car is manual, 95.000 KM. The problem is everytime i put the car in gear and start rolling, I hear a loud thump/clunk coming from the underside of the engine.
The only mods on the car are intake, a tune and a dog bone insert. The clanking is way more apparent when i'm in reverse. Whether i'm backing out of my uphill driveway or on a flat surface, EVERYTIME the car is at a dead stop and I give it throttle, something clanks...
My mechanic had lifted the car. He thought it might have been suspension, but he ruled that out. He believes that it is in fact the dog bone insert that is faulty. Upon further inspection, the red insert (from USP I believe) had cracked. although the insert was visibly broken (I've had it for barely 5000 km's, WTF) I'm not entirely sure that that is what's making the clunking sound because that sound was there from before I had put the dog bone insert in place.
So I have a 05 mk4 golf 2.0 automatic. Ive noticed that when i take it from park to drive the car shakes and makes a huge clunk sound like I just got hit by something. Turns out it was a motor mount, I think they call it the dog bone cause its attached to the body & engine of the car. So it was replaced but the car still does it. But not as hard & not as much. Before when I revved the car it would kind of shake and dance. Since the replacement it parks still when I rev it. But that noise is still there. Someone told me it could be another mount or the torque converter.

I recently went over a speed bump in the road and the car made an awful clunk sound sort of like the strut reached the end of its length reach. The car continued to make this klunk sound when I'd go over smaller bumps just not as loud. What this could be and how to remedy it?
View 5 RepliesI have 46k on stock suspension and lately I have been hearing a clunking sound when hitting bumps. It sounds like it is coming from the strut mounts and the ride has been harsh compared to when the car was newer. There isn't any bounciness and I thing the shocks/struts are fine. I push down on the body and no bounciness when I let up. Could my strut mounts be shot already?
View 6 RepliesToday I tried starting my car (shortly after I drove it with no problems 2 hours earlier), and when I pushed the start button (holding it down firmly), it made this weird clattering-clicking noise (the dials on the cluster went haywire), but no noises were coming out of the engine, so there was not attempt to even turn the engine (wasn't the grinding noise from engine that you get if you don't hold down the start button firmly long enough). Thought it was the battery so tried to jump the car, but it wouldn't start immediately either. The AC/radio were all on while I was attempting to start the car - shouldn't be the case if the battery was dead???.
After about the 3rd attempt to start the car in the middle of the jump start, the engine started.
Anyways, got home, and then tried starting the car again and no luck. Does this sound like an issue with the battery (lights and AC and radio were all working fine), or perhaps the starter/push button? Has there been any recalls/TSB on anything related for the MKIV R?
I have a 2001 Audi TT, every time when I push the gas pedal down the car is shaking(not whole lot). I replaced one of the injection coils but still does the same thing.
