Dec 15, 2009
About to change my front and rear pads, and I'm wondering if I need to open the bleed valve or the fluid reservoir when compressing the calipers.

Is it somehow possible to change the (standard 50/50) Front/Rear Power Ration of the 4x4 Transmission? I know the Porsche Cayenne uses something like 40/60 (as well as the BMW X5) and as the Touareg and Cayenne are supposed to share the same hardware I figure it must be possible to adopt the Cayenne settings.
View 20 RepliesI have a 1986 Toyota Van. It has been outfitter as a small RV. I changed the front and rear Shock absorbers but it is still a very bumpy ride.
View 3 RepliesHave to do a brake job on the truck? I took mine truck in for a CEL (New EGT 12) and during the Multipoint inspection they saw the brakes were pretty worn (and wanted an upsell im sure). I only have 49k miles and the fronts only have 20% and rears 30% of the pads left. So I get to spend a few hours this weekend doing the deed. Anything special to look out for?
View 14 RepliesI have a 2009 f150 platinum and have been told both sides of the story now... that the front differential is sealed and need not be changed, and also that it is unsealed and can be changed. While asking this question I might as well lump in the rear differential as well. Are they both sealed or unsealed and need to be changed???
View 3 RepliesJust got out of the dealer they said they recommend front brake change. They quoted me for ~730 just for Rotors/Pads/labor on the front (I am going to shop around).
I tried search Golf R Brakes info prior to posting but alot of the searches are for people buying Golf R brakes for Gti's.
1) Do I need to Replace Both Rotors and Pad at the Same time?
2) Currently Car is still stock and see's no tracks, the most car would see in the next 2 yrs would probably be stg 2+ if that. Would OEM Rotors + OEM pads be sufficient? or should i upgrade pads? Below is listing i found with some different pads options.

3) Car is currently a 47.5k miles with oem brakes, should i just replace rears as well? even though dealer did not recommend?
4) SS Brake Lines, should i get them?
Not liking the size of the rear rotors and was wondering if its possible to mount a set of front brakes in the rear and what parts it needs to do so?
View 2 RepliesHow do you remove the front and rear rotors, Any DIY's out there I didn't see.
View 2 RepliesI am going to install a BBK on the front of my car and I was wondering if I can take the larger front brakes and move them to the back of the car.
If not, any good set of drilled or slotted rotors for the rear brakes?
One thing I noticed when I was checking out the R is the lever came off rather easy.
I put it back on. This happened on both sides.
Is this normal? Would I want to Super Glue it?
I've had my car for 7 years now and it's a love / hate relationship. I probably put more money in maintaining the car than upgrades. So, I have the kw club sports, front and rear neuspeed sway bars, neuspeed front strut bar, and neuspeed control arms. I lost track of how long its been since I've been hearing this popping noise but it occurs almost every time i leave my drive way.
The drive way is not flat. It dips down then comes up to the street. When reversing two tires come of ground, the front left and back right. When that happens, something pops from the rear... Recently it has come to the point when i take a right turn, i hear a pop from the rear.(not all the time). I told my mechanic to check the sway bar bushings but apparently that not the problem. Suspension shocks and springs are fine.
My 2013 has developed a door vibration in both the passenger front and rear doors. Happens when I either hit a bump or the door is closed. Ironically, had the same thing in my 2009 GTI.
View 12 RepliesI am in my new gti, owned for 6 days, waiting for a tow truck. I was driving down the freeway when it felt like I blew a tire. I pull over to the side of the road and none of the tires are flat. I look under the car and a piece of the rear suspension has come loose and jamed itself in front of the tire. Its a long peice of metal with a hook on the end.
View 24 RepliesI checked fuse 23 as many people have said to do and nothing is wrong with it. any other things I could check?
View 4 RepliesHave a 2011 Golf TDI hatchback. Located in Toronto, Canada where it's about - 20 Celsius with windchill today. Currently have no washer fluid coming through the front or rear nozzles. Thought I was out of fluid but tank is full. Tried piercing the nozzles but nothing changed and they don't look blocked. Don't think it's the weather either as my car is parked in my garage overnight. When I try to spray I can hear the mechanism trying to spray but nothing comes out.

View 4 RepliesI am trying to change pads on the rear disc brakes. I got everything apart but can't get the piston to retract to get the new pads in. I am turning the piston clockwise with needle nose plyers and it isn't retracting. What do I need to do?
View 7 RepliesBushings on the rear strut rod and rear carrier assembly where the rod attaches are gone - any source? From what I can tell these are not sourced individually?

If I replace the rear sway bar end links, do I need to get an alignment? (I just got an alignment 2 days ago). Here is a DIY on replacing the rear sway bar end links: [URL]
The top attaches to the strut.....what is the bar the other end attaches to?
I've been (for the first time) changing my struts on my 08 prius, having read a couple of threads, have manual, etc. The fronts went in fairly easily, but I noticed that when taking out the rear (left), it (the spring) was under a fair amount of compression when it "dropped" out. I was thinking, "how will it go back in once I swap out the strut?".... Also, it seems to me that the stud/spindle is in the way, making it very difficult to get the strut back in as well. I believe I have the vehicle jacked up in the same manor that Patrick Wong shows, with the 2x4 under the axle, and a 2nd jack as well. What is the trick to get this back in???
