Just noticed my car squeaks at very low speeds when i press on the brake and then also when it is stopped as I rock it back in forth (engine on or off). Sound is definitely coming from the front end.
View 1 Replies2004 TB EXT. Replaced pads on all 4, installed new hardware kits front & rear, the anti-rattle clips even had the deluxe black coating on the back (mounting) surface to reduce noise. Occasionally squeaks under light braking at low speeds, such as approaching a stop. About 1 out of 4 stops it does this. Semi-Metallic pads. Irritating noise. Never had this happen before, put same brand & style of pads on my truck, no noise.
View 6 RepliesMy ranger started to squeak at low speeds a few months ago (when it was pretty cold) and still does it in the mornings when I first start driving it. It squeaks from around 2mph up to 25-30 and then it seems to go away (or I can't hear it anymore cause of other noises haha). It is from underneath the truck somewhere, and not related to clutch or brakes. It seems to do it in the mornings only (or when it's cold) and increases in frequency when your speed increases. Not engine related at all.
My first thought was U joints or the driveshaft rubbing, since the squeaking was directly related to how fast you were moving and clutch in/out and brakes didn't change the noise at all. I couldn't find anything rubbing on the driveshaft.
Changed the U-joints since they were kinda old, but this didn't fix the issue. Next I pulled the rear brakes and checked all the springs and such, nothing I could see was wrong. Greased up the shoe contact points and put it all back together.
It was still squeaking, so I checked the wheel bearings for play and spun them while each corner was jacked up, the bearings seemed fine and didn't make any noise when I spun each tire. I have transmission and rear differential fluid.
I've checked all of the stuff I can think of and am kind of at a loss as to the next step. I guess the things it could possibly be are transmission bearings (input/output, since those spin all the time right?), pinion bearings or rear end bearings, wheel bearings (even though i've checked them), or ??
I've driven a chevy with bad bearings in the rear end, and this doesn't sound like that. The chevy sounded like a dull roar at speed, and kinda droned a bunch. this is a very distinct squeaking sound, very similar to a squeaking bearing on the idler pulley or something like that.
Heater squeaks quite a bit. Squeaks more on speeds 1 & 2, but will squeak sometimes on 3 & 4 as well. How do I fix this?

The wife's had her 05 for about two weeks now, and while riding in it the other day, I noticed that the brake pedal now squeaks like a SOB. I know it's a simple fix.
Also, is there any way to VAG the rear hatch, so you don't have to constantly use the door switch or fob to unlock the hatch, even when the doors are unlocked? And, is the any way to change the brightness of the overhead compass screen? At night, unless I lean over, I can't read it from the driver's seat. Those are my only rants thus far, which are nearly nonexistent. PS - got the hitch put on and pulled for the first time last weekend. Nothing but good things to say.
I recently switched from stock rotors to a pair of SP slotted rotors. The pads are stock. I thoroughly followed the bedding process and had no problems until now. For the past 2 weeks I noticed brake shudder when stopping from highway speeds. My first reaction was that it was a warped rotor. Since it was a fairly new pair.
View 4 RepliesOk so the brakes are new and for some reason at higher speeds, i feel the pedal vibrate as if its a bad rotor....gonna grease the pins and pads this weekend to see if theres a diff. But what gets me is that it Squeals as if the pads are shot as well in the front.
The title problem is that when i brake its smooth ish until 10 MPH where then it feels like the pedal goes to MUSH and i hear an ERRRRR sound as the car comes to a stop. it almost sounds like ABS/ESP while im sliding to a stop in the snow.... Expect there's no snow.
I don't have a high tech phone to record the noise. It never used to make this sound and i feel there is an actual problem.
I am gonna try flushing the brake system with new fluid, take the front brakes off and re grease everything. yesterday seemed to be the day my dash decides to light up like a Christmas tree...
My brake pedal squeaks when I release it, for the last two weeks. Does this mean I need maintenance, repair, or some oil?
View 6 RepliesWhen stopping my 2004 VW GTI 1.8T at a low speed the brakes (sounds like from the front) make a strange noise from the front. The best way to describe the noise would like when you would put cardboard or the like in your bicycle tires as a child and make that whirring noise. I have checked the brake pads, rotors and the like and cannot find any evidence of grinding or anything of the sort. It only happens at low stopping speeds and not at harsher stops. There seems to be no evidence of problems stopping or anything like that, just an aggravating noise that will not go away! What it could be because I am completely lost on this topic and have checked all the basics (pads, calipers and rotors) for wear/tear and just did my brakes about 5 months ago with no noted issues at that point with everything broken down.
View 3 RepliesA few things that annoy me right now. Brake pedal squeaks when I press it. Like I'm killing a mouse. The steering above 65 is twitchy, just like all my other Prii, the AC sucks on hot days, the left lower seat bolster digs into my left thigh, there is a rattle somewhere.
View 19 RepliesSo, a few day i bought an 84 Ranger and even since have not been able to figure out what the hell is wrong with the brakes. I know it's not the brake booster for starters. Because, i went to Auto Zone and picked up a new one and when i took the old one off (before i had put the new one on as well) i tried to see if the brake pedal would now move freely and it won't. It is still very stiff and squeaks when you push it down. i then to get it to return have to pull it up with my foot... What it might be? the WD-40 failed here as well.

It doesn't make the clicking noise in any other gear only in park. Might be normal but I don't remember hearing it before?

View 1 RepliesThe bolts or screws on the inside front of the doors may need to be retightened. Mine have loosened over time. Just wondering if this maybe a possible cause of rattles or squeaks in the doors others here have experienced. My door shell appeared to be sticking out a bit and it could be pressed in, so I fished around for a cause and fixed it.

I have been cruising vortex for the last month and finally pulled the trigger on a low mileage Red R32. I am quite excited and love driving the car around.
First, when my sunroof is fully open there is a great deal of reverberation at speeds of 30mph plus. In fact you can feel the whole headliner vibrate. However, if I push the sunroof wind deflector down just a small amount everything is just fine. Is there some adjustment to that wind deflector?
Second, when I test drove the car at first the car started up normally with no unusual noises, but since I actually purchased the car, the car makes several squeaks while the motor is turning over. The dealer tells me this is normal. I took the car in because of the squeak and they found a bad water pump bearing cause they heard some other noises with the engine idling, but that the squeak upon startup is normal operation. That doesn't make sense to me.
A little background: My 2015 DSG is just shy of 40k miles. I have recently the DSG fluid hoping it would fix my issue. I also have a DSG tune, but the problem has been around well before the tune.
So here's the intermittent issue.
When I leave a corner or from a stop, the DSG tries racing toward 6th as quick as it can and even with my pedal beyond the 50% margin. When it does and my window is down, I can hear a slight squeak when it shifts, and you can feel the hard engagement of the gear. What the issue could be or what could be causing the squeak? I also get a slight vibration under WOT in 5th and 6th at low RPM's. I am thinking its either the mechatronics unit or the clutch packs that are prematurely wearing out.
My 2007 camry LE has some led lights on the front and rear turn signals with license plate lights etc... At night my back lights dont work but when i press on the brake, they work...
View 14 RepliesI noticed that the car take a very long time to come to a complete stop and I have to press the pedal hard to stop. The brakes have approximately 11,000 miles on them in city driving conditions. Also the slightest bit I relax my foot, the car begins to creek and move. I have to have a very firm foot on it so it won't move. Is it time for new brakes or should I first begin to look at other potential problems? Also I noticed the car pulls to right slightly could that be related?
View 14 RepliesI have a 2009 Camry and both brake lights don't illuminate when I press the brake pedal but during night time driving, the red tailights are on indicating the bulbs aren't burnt. The third brake light on the top behind the rear seats does illuminate. By the way my tailights aren't the fancy LED ones just the normal stock bulbs. So what's the problem here? Is it a electrical issue?
