View 2 RepliesMy 08' Camry i4 LE has been locking the same way..... I press the lock button twice, then the car honks once, and everyone's happy.
About a week ago, my car started honking twice after I press the lock button twice. This hasnt happened in 1.5 years but it didnt really bug me.. at first.
My problem is... my car's alarm goes off randomly after I lock it. It's like someone pressing the panic button on my fob.. What is wrong with my car all of a sudden??
I read another thread and have disconnected the battery. I will wait an hour and re-connect to check again. I've also read somewhere that I might need a "latch and sensor replacement"..
I bought the bed extender off my uncles '05 lariat and I got the pivot bolts, but I went to put the bolts on my truck and the middle hole isn't threaded. It has like a metal bushing in there, do I need to tap the hole or what? Also what is the bottom hole for?
View 2 RepliesIt has been a long time since I have owned a Ford truck and recently got a good deal on a 2004 Reg. Cab 4x4 (4.6L). It only has 58K miles and still looks, drives and smells like new. I have just noticed that the Rear end gears whine very loudly at 45 mph. It is quite everywhere else accept a little hum at 60mph. No other issues with the truck and perhaps, this is just normal on these newer fords.

My mobile phone is recognised by the car - phone book etc. I can make a call and the screen on the radio shows "PHONE" but I can't hear any sound. When a call comes in there is no sound either and I can't communicate with the caller.

View 2 RepliesAt least once a week, only the FM band appear on my factory nav. My sat 1, sat 2, and fm2, and am1 band all dissapear. I have to turn the car off and back on to get everything to work again.
The cars currently in the dealer for an other issue and they are looking into this one also. Seems not much is going to happen as it's unduplicabale. I even showed them the videos I have take of it happening. Call VWOA and they said they will look into it.
I had the sirius module replace once, new firmware twice, and in the dealer another time and they couldn't replicate the issue.
My 2013 gti has 2077 miles on it. Today I pulled it into my bay at work and checked its oil level while cold, it was at the min line. After my ~ 15 minute drive home i checked it again, and it was about 1/3 up between min and max...... Are they typically at "max" from the factory, or just varying in between? This is the first time I've checked the oil in it since i got it...

View 11 RepliesI have a 99 Jetta mk4 and the factory alarm appears to be draining the battery. If the car sits for more than a day with the alarm set the battery light will come on.
If I don't set the alarm it seems ok. I assume it is something with the alarm but I realize there could be some other issues contributing. For example there is a light on the radio that blinks. It obviously uses some power.
I have 3 specific questions.
1. Where is the alarm located and if I disconnect it will is screw up other things? i.e. will the car start and run. Will the remote keys work etc.?
2. Is is possible for ME to disable the auto door look feature. The manual says take it to the dealer but is there a switch or similar that I can access on my own?
3. What is a good battery that people recommend in this size? I noticed the oem factory battery is 575 CCA and I have seen replacements as high as 650 CCA..
Want to upgrade my factory non entune radio 57076 to the factory entune radio. what model number radio am I looking for and will I encounter any issues with data for fuel and tire pressure sensors.
View 3 RepliesI have a 1997 F150, 4X4. My mechanic says its time for new brakes and was curious if it would be worth possibly converting from drum brakes to disc brakes??
My mechanic has quoted me $300 to do the rear brakes, would it be worth the extra money to convert??? I really don't care for drum brakes. I have done a search on the internet and every time it brings up the issue with the parking brake.
I have a new battery in my 2008 Toyota Camry XLE. The car wouldn't start today so I replaced the starter. Auto parts store tested original and confirmed it was no good. After replacing the starter it still will not start. The brake will not depress. The instrument panel lights will not come on, but the air, radio, headlights, wipers, etc. will turn on. What else could be wrong. We have been trying to figure it out all day and can't even turn it on to get it to a mechanic.
View 4 RepliesThe brakes will not engage until the brake peddle is at least 1/3 of the way down, resulting in a big delay in time to stop. In stop and go traffic it is very dangerous. I have to actually "ride" the brake in rush hour traffic in order to be ready for a quick traffic problem as this brake system is very slow to respond. This is obviously a safety flaw in manufacturing or design but it must be fixed as its not a matter of if an accident will occur but when will it occur. I test drove another LX 570 and found the same brake issue with that unit as well.
View 14 Repliesmy front brakes have been locking up here recently. I think it my be due to a blockage in the resovior. I had taken it apart upon the first spell of it locking up, had my buddy press the brake pedal a few times with the lines from the res disconnected and it seemed to be be a little clogged at first and then freed up once it was stepped on hard a few times. So i reassembled the system and bled the brakes out and it seemed to be fine for about 70 miles or so. Then out of no where it started locking up once again.

View 10 RepliesI had a 2008 Prius. I travel to a town which is at 7300 feet sea level. When up in the altitude and when I step on the brakes, I hear a clicking or Ping. When I get back to Phoenix, it goes away. I talked to the local dealer in the mountains and he said he has had several people ask him about this. He asked the Toyota Tech experts and they cannot tell him why this is happening. I now have a 2012 Prius and the same thing happens.
View 1 Replies2008 Passat Komfort Wagon with 34,500 miles. Started to get grinding sound when I applied brakes, which diminishes as I drive. Thought it was rust, but sound is very loud and sounds just like pads are gone and digging into rotors. The brake warning light is not on.
Dealer told me rear caliper was closing unevenly and recommended service---not covered by warranty of course. When I picked-up car same noise as before. The service manager told be that the car was just washed and the rust built up in the last hour---I could believe some built-up, but the sounds made my teeth ache. When we went for a test drive the noise got quiter, but was still apparent. The SM told me this is a "normal" noise. I have had many cars with disc brakes, dating back to a 1960 Jaguar; none have made this "normal" sound.
On my commute to work this morning my dash lit up wth warning lights for the ABS and VSC, shortly after I noticed that the brakes were pulsating.
I was in slow traffic becuase of a wreck on the interstate and each time you touched the pedal enough to apply more than regenerative breaking, they would pulsate to the point of shaking the car (at under 7 miles an hour). The car acted as if the system was alternating between applying stopping force and not, several times per second.
when i initially purchased "used " my 08 gs350 i had a problem with brake squeal. I kept taking it in to the dealer until they ended up changing front rotors , all 4 pads , and new shims .
Took my car into my usual mechanic to get an oil change. I knew i needed brake pads and he changed all four pads out for $350 .I am having a terrible time with brake squeal now. the mechanic is telling me that i have warped rotors and need to replace all four. He is telling me that he wont charge me labor, but the parts will cost $400.00 I goggled the cost of the parts and he isnt far off on the price . My concern is that his fix isnt the correct fix. Front what i can tell its the front rotors making all the racket.
What should i do ??I dont know if they re-installed the shims and have no idea what kind of pads were used . Thinking about taking it to the dealership and being done with it .
