I have Golf R32 V DSG year 2007. Recently appeared a noise at idle in the engine. I installed Forge intake and noise he appeared with the passage of kilometers.

With the motor running and the air conditioning on, there is a intermittent ticking noise that comes and goes. It may be the compressor coming on and going off.

I have a 2007 Camry LE, with about 104,000 miles on it. Lately I've noticed a noise ONLY when the car is idling, rather in park or drive. I don't hear it all when I'm driving. It's somewhat hard for me to tell if it's coming from the engine or under the car, but its definitely near the front and sounds lower in the body. My first instinct told me that it was related to the exhaust system, but it doesn't quite sound like a rattle. It sounds closer to a belt struggling to turn...it actually sounds a little bit like when my water pump and alternator went, but I had those replaced 15 months ago so I really don't think it's that at all. I also had the radiator replaced 2 months back, so I don't think it's that. I don't know drive far to work, so I haven't put a lot of miles on the car in the last year.
Otherwise the car drives normally, just hear this sound at idle. The only other thing I've noticed over time is that when the car gets to about 2500-3000 miles after an oil change, I notice the light flashes when making hard turns..but that's it, and it goes away when I get the oil changed. Obviously I know that the engine is burning oil probably faster than it should, but I'm not sure if that might somehow be related to what I'm hearing above.

While searching on line for information about the LS460's engine ticking noise, I came across a fascinating engineering paper. It explains the source of the noise in all GDI engines and proposes two solutions. One is not feasible as it would require some further development of the engine but the other solution may be practical for the DIY enthusiast. The question would be what type of material to use which would withstand the conditions under the hood?

I just got done with 2007 5.4 Triton with cam phaser noise. I replaced phaser, timing chains ,tensioner, oil pump, and it still made noise at idle when it was hot so a change the oil to 0w40 and my noise went away. 5w20 starts to brake down at temp of 180 but 0w40 works up to 212 ford will tell you all you need is 25psi of oil pressure what I have seen is you need at least 40psi of oil pressure so if you have noise try 0w40 mobil1....

I have a 2011 LS 460 with 28K miles in very good shape although there is a noise most audible when I am in a stop sign that disappears when I shift the transmission to "P". The noise is like a tackat tackat tackat tackat . I took the car to the dealer and the service advisor claims is normal. Is it or my car is defective?

So for the past several months i have noticed something going on. There is a little noise almost like a groaning
- When i am at a Stop light and idle but still in Drive.
- When i shift to N or P it stops and goes away.
Sometimes during this i will notice a little rattle or i feel a little vibration but not much and very hard to even notice if it hadn't been for how sensitive i am never would have even noticed this at all. What this could be ?

I have been looking for a solution to a noise my 07 S60R GT has been making for about two months now. After a cold start there is a chriping/whistling noise that lasts a few minutes at idle. The noise will go away at idle but is constant under heavy load in any gear. The Volvo dealer told me it was the SNABB intake but the noise started well after I installed this with no noise initially. They said its not from sepentine belt or pulleys. It sounds as though its coming from the turbo area. Car still drives/pulls fine but makes shrieking / chirping / whistle when I get on it ( which is most of the time).

101,400 miles on car. Started noticing about 2 weeks ago, at idle, and as pickup up speed, a whining noise coming from the engine bay. It has gotten a little worse, so I started trouble shooting.
Basically, at idle, its somewhat annoying, but as you hit 20-30mph it can be more annoying if the radio is off or at low level. If Im sitting there in park, and its whining away, all it takes is me cutting the A/C knob to OFF, and then quiet as a mouse.
So, other than the compressor going bad, I can't see anything else related? I always hate when AC problems show up, they are never cheap....

I've been all over the place trying to get this pulley sounding noise figured out. the noise is definitely not the pulley, but is coming from that side, and from underneath the engined towards the back. this noise only occurs when car has been driven at least 30 minutes to an hour from first start of the day, but then continues the rest of the day. the noise also only occurs when I am coming to a stop or just rolling at a low idle, and then only lasts for about 30 seconds and goes always until i give it so gas and the noise comes back.
I know its sounds a lot like PVC, but i have had all that checked and actually pvc replaced. Took it to another VW dealer, and they charged me for diagnostics, and came up with it the noise was coming from somewhere in the clutch, and want to replace the whole clutch, that was just replaced by them 20,000 miles ago. You would think if was coming from the clutch it would make the noise at all times. Do you think it could be the clutch in any way?

I finally jumped from MKII land into a new GTI . Is it normal for it to sound like a diesel when at Idle? Its only really noticeable when you lift the hood. Im used to my MKII with sticky lifters but the sound of the TSI seems a bit loud.... I haven't been able to compare it to another car.

I bought my 2014 GTI TUESDAY... In less than 24 hours, I noticed a knock when the car was at idle with the clutch not in. Went away once the clutch was in. The car has 248 miles on it.
I am thinking it is the throw out bearing, but vw service seems to think it is nothing and they want to just run some tests and keep it for the weeknd. In all reality, I will have the rental longer than I actually had my brand new car.

I had this noise since purchasing car from dealer but always thought it was the injectors, Lately it has got a lot louder and I'm positive it's not my injectors. It comes and goes at idle but when I press the gas it stops for a bit.

When my R32 is sitting at idle with the A/C on, I occasionally get what I can only describe as a high frequency "hum" or "moan". I've tracked the noise down to what looks like a sensor or valve on the A/C system, located in the rear of the engine compartment near the left (passenger) shock tower. Turing the A/C off, blipping the throttle, or putting the A/C in "ECON" mode will make the noise go away for the most part.
Is this the thermal expansion valve? And what the heck is causing the noise? Faulty TPV? Or low A/C refrigerant charge? It's annoying as heck and scares the crap out of people near the car.

There is a recurring moan that comes from the engine compartment around 40% of the time while the vehicle is idling. Sometime it's a moaning sound and other times it's more of a grunting noise, almost sounds like the engine is reving, only the RPM guage doesn't move.
Doesn't matter if the engine is hot or cold. Car has just over 2,000 miles.
Dealer, naturally, could not reproduce the noise.

I have a chamfering noise coming from my intake manifold on idle. sometimes its there and sometimes its not, it goes away with any application of throttle.
