Random question, when you are stopped and pull your e-brake do your headlights turn off? I feel like they did in my 20th but I can't recall. If they do, mine isn't working,my e-brake light also does not come on when pulled.
View 6 RepliesI had H&R springs installed today. I have a problem now. When driving with the headlights on i noticed that while braking the self leveling in our headlights seem to be freaking out. Every time I press the breaks the lights are constantly trying to adjust. What this could be?
View 12 RepliesBefore putting the kid in the car seat I like to turn on the a/c (in my previous car I would open the passenger side front door and turn the key). According to the manual, pushing the Start button twice will activate all the electrical. But no cold air is coming out in my Prius, just fan. Not till I depress the brake.
View 19 Replies2011 golf 2.5l. It all started a year ago, I changed a bulb.from there the head light error came on. I switched out the head light switches on both. Driver Side works all the time and both have been.now getting same problem it in passages side. Have to press the wire for the head light to even turn on sometimes ...... Not under warranty sense I replaced the bulbs my self..... I asked if I can get new wiring. But got a laugh and got a reply that I have to replace the whole head lights it self as a unit. So if I do have to go that route . Not hide stock head lights.
View 5 RepliesMY friends's 2001 Passat has an issue. Brake lights work fine when the headlight switch is turned off. When she turns the headlight switch ON, her brake lights are stuck on. Left, right, and center. What could this be? Seems like maybe a fuse or brake light switch.
View 2 RepliesI have a 2002 Kia Optima. The headlights have been flickering as well as every light inside the car. When they're doing this, if I press on the brakes, everything fades out. Such as the radio, headlights get very dim, air conditioner fades out. The car almost comes to the point of stalling. I've had the alternator replaced but the problem continued. I have asked several mechanics but they are baffled.

Headlight switch itself works fine. Running lights turn on. Brights work.
I was under the understanding that the headlights turn with the steering wheel. When I start the car they go through some kind of test thing but after that nothing. I am expecting them to turn when I turn the wheel or am I wrong?
View 5 Replies05' TDI Jetta. The headlights will not turn on. The DRL's will work. I changed the dimmer switch, and put in a Euro switch to try and fix it. But the only thing I get when I turn on the headlights are the running lights. All the running lights and interior (dash) lights work fine. I checked the fuses and pulled the 173 relay (to kill the DRL's).

I seem to have a problem with my jetta. It's the 1.8t. When I turn the turn signal on, I can see the dash and headlights dim. Also when I tried putting both windows up at the same time, the car seemed to short out and almost shut off. It reset the time and trip mileage when it did so.
View 1 RepliesSo after a pretty harsh storm last night I was driving today and my wipers came on. Went to turn them off and nothing. My headlights and turn signals won't work either. When I pull the stalk to turn my high beams on my wipers go off. Parked the car and the dash lights stay on without my key and the wipers randomly go on and off. The blinkers in the rear remain lit with the car off as well. At work right now so nothing came up when I searched briefly but do any of you have any insight as to why my car is possessed? Going to check grounds when I get home.

View 5 RepliesI've never used "foot parking brake" on any of my cars before. The one I have has a standard automatic transmission when I put in "park" the pin inside the transmission locks it.
Do I just press the "P" park button or press the "foot parking brake" first?
Getting a clunk feel and sound while pressing the brake pedal? If I press harder, another clunk or two occurs. Felt and hear especially at low speed or stopped. No issues braking, but the clunk has slowly gotten worse since I dropped the car on RSR Downs which could be a coincidence.
View 7 RepliesGot in the car this morning and my headlights,windshield wipers, and turn signals would all not turn on or work.
I'm not sure if the this is a problem with the stalks on the steering column or possibly a relay.
When i pull the left stalk my high beams will come on but only when i do that.
The windshield wipers would not turn on at all and the windshield wash would not even spray as well.
I also noticed that my AC/Heat controls wouldnt respond either. Any clue as to what it might be.
So when I press auto(physical button) and have my temp at HI or 85, it turns on the AC as well. Why this is? I thought auto was supposed to adjust everything to get it to that temp. AC is also on when I hit the front defrost(physical button).
This is on a 2013 Premium with rear seat controls, and S Flow and 3 Zone is off, if that makes a difference. Maybe I'm missing a setting somewhere, I'm still pretty new to all this coming from a 99 GS 300!
My 6'4" hubby just got in my PriusV 2012 to use it and when he tried to shift into reverse, the parking brake was on and the anti skid icon lit up. It would not shift into drive. When I got in to see what was going on, after he turned it off, everything worked fine for me. It has never done this before but he rarely drives it. Is it possible he was mashing the regular brake pedal down too hard? He wasn't hitting the parking brake getting in or anything like that, I watched when he tried a second time.
We kept trying but he ended up taking his truck instead (which I was washing for him) I know on a couple occasions making fast, hard turns into our driveway I have lit up the anti skid icon but other than some extra braking action it has not caused a problem. And once while stopped at a light and reaching for something in the back seat, I lit it up, but I forget what the car did. I was mashing the pedal down hard as I reached back. I assume in both cases the car thinks I am getting in a wreck and is taking action.
Of course, I just finished washing it but there is no chance it's anything with that? I moved it from the front yard to the back and had no issues before he tried to use it. Anyway, I had this thought about pressing the pedal too hard after he left and here I am asking.
2005 Prius, 50K. Newly purchased two weeks ago. Last night, driving into my garage with the ICE off, noticed a noticeable electric or electronic-sounding hum from the engine compartment. With the hood up and looking toward the engine from the front of the car, noise comes from the right side of the engine compartment, to the right of the inverter cover.
The noise, a loud hum, appears when pressing the Power button and the brake pedal. It also appears when pressing the Power button twice without pressing the brake pedal. When starting up the car, the hum lowers in pitch significantly (though not in volume) as soon as the Park button is pressed.
When I bought the car, I brought it in to the dealership for a complete checkup. They replaced the inverter coolant pump under the recall notice. Don't know if that's significant. I opened the coolant reservoir cap last night with the motor on, and noticed movement inside, so it appears to be working fine.
Bought a 2004 GX470 a few months ago. Took it into the local Toyota dealer for oil change (40+ miles to nearest Lexus)
They told me I needed to replace front brake pads, so I did that. Immediately after they finished I noticed what I would describe as a clack or clank sound when pressing or releasing the brake pedal.
This sound was not there before. I went back inside and told them, the tech came out and listened and said it would probably go away. I took the car back in a couple weeks later and they applied some type of lube which didn't work. The service rep said that the only way to remove sound was to replace some type of pin.
A few things that annoy me right now. Brake pedal squeaks when I press it. Like I'm killing a mouse. The steering above 65 is twitchy, just like all my other Prii, the AC sucks on hot days, the left lower seat bolster digs into my left thigh, there is a rattle somewhere.
