I just traded my MKIV GTI yesterday for an R32. Super happy.
But I have a question, Should I put in new tranny fluid? cause when I try to go fast and go from 1st to 2nd it gets blocked, but if I'm going slow and slowly feather the clutch it goes into the second fine.
Have a question when I shift slow from 2nd to 3rd my o2j tranny doesn't grind but when I shift fast from 2nd to 3rd it grinds it happens starting at 3000 Rpms thru 6000 Rpms. It also doesn't happen when I shift from 4th to 3rd. Have performed a tranny fluid change. Along with replacing the clutch at 1500 miles ago. The engine is AWP.
View 4 RepliesSo, I recently picked up mt 2000 vr6 has 200k on it runs great well taken care of. I was just driving not getting crazy or any sort of thing. it has ground in 2nd a little from when I got it. I put it in neutral then went to put it in 2nd and it went but nothing there. it will go into 2nd but won't stay and when I hold it in 2nd gear it just revs no noise or anything just sits and rolls. tried doing the reading but all I fold was 1st and 2nd I just have no 2nd.
View 1 Repliesmaking a right turn and accelerating up a slight incline trans hangs in 2nd gear to 4000 rpm until I hit the + paddle. Dealer says this is normal for the DSG. I'm not buying it! Occasionally it is reluctant to upshift from 2nd on a straight way during normal acceleration. 2014 sel v6 dsg.
View 6 RepliesWell, driving down the road just like any other day. I go from 1st to 2nd gear. It feels like I missed a shift, no big deal decide to put it in 3rd. Missed 3rd gear...... weird, no big deal through it in 4th and was on my way. Got to a red light, no 1st or 2nd gear. Where 1st and 2nd gear are, it feels like there is nothing there when i tried to shift into gear. If I go into 3rd gear its now 1st gear, 4th gear is 2nd gear.Had a mechanic look at my car, and the linkage and clutch are fine. He feels that something minor broke inside the transmission.
A) What do you think might be broken?
B) How could this happen?
Driving my car like a baby, I am never hard on my clutch. No pre-warning, no bad sounds, and I have never had an issue with my transmission before. I am hoping I do not have to pull my transmission out but it looks like I may not have a choice...
My sister has a 2006 HHR which seems to be having some transmission/gear box issues. She took it to a local shop who did a diagnostic and told her that a sensor was going bad that delt with her gear shift. The HHR is a automatic but when she puts the car in park sometimes the doors don't automatically unlock like they are suppose to and she has some difficulty with putting it in park some times or getting it out. Also when driving she says it seems like there are problems with the transmission finding the right gear. However said she could not do any damage by driving it till she had the monies to get it fixed. Does this make any sense?
View 1 RepliesSo after my 500 mile break in I decide to see what my new set up is made of. Had the kinetics stage 3 and the south bend stage 3 clutch installed. Did my first launch...everything went great. Got just a little bit of spin and the car took off like a scud missile. Right as Im going to shift into second my Rpms go down fast. No weird noises no metallic sounds nothing. No fluid under the car. Only a slight clutch smell nothing crazy. Car wouldn't go into gear. Shut the car off and it goes into gear.

View 2 RepliesI have a 2011 F150 EB SCREW 4x4. Built in september 2011. The issue seems to have started recently as follows:
1st incident- driving normal, came to stop, accelerate from stop (normally) and the truck was stuck in first gear. Pulled over, shut it off, waited, restarted and seemd ok.
2nd incident (today)- driving normal at around 40mph in 6th gear and all of a sudden the transmission violently jumped to 1st gear for no reason! Then slowly geared back up to 6th again.
Also, I have sometimes noticed that soon after startup, but adequately warmed up, the truck will seem to keep pulling forward at a stop light with the brakes on hard...rpm is at normal idle but it seems like the torque converter will not "let go".
I'm going to be calling the dealer but need feedback, especially regarding any TSB's, SSM's etc for this?
Scanned my APR chipped 2001 1.8T for a CEL and found the following codes.

I don't the think last two codes are related. I did a thorough search on Vortex and there doesn't seem to be any posts on this combo of codes, the first 3 that is. There are a few posts about the N249 and Fuel trim codes which may seem to be relate to vac leaks around the N249.
In terms of symptoms, I haven't noticed anything new. The car does seem sluggish on first and second and gear but it's been like that for months if not a year but no codes. I've had rough cold starts which has also been around for a very long time and I attributed this to the secondary air pump since the dealer found nothing wrong. The only real problem I've had for about a year is the car seems to have a global power loss at times where the entire cluster would start blink and beeping, usually after I use the power windows when the lights are on. All interior and exterior lights would also dim when this happens. Sometimes, the entire car would even shut off when I'm stopped. I've taken it to the dealer multiple times and no one has been able to figure it out. They think it's a look wire somewhere. Anyways, it comes and goes.
I do have an APR chip and it's been in for probably 8 years. So, basically no new symptoms really and all the codes are new. I've erased them and rescanned after driving and they all came back.
how to remove the AC vents without breaking them? When I turned my AC on today it sounded like there was something blocking this vent and restricting airflow. It's very annoying and I'm not really sure how to go about trying to get in there to unblock the vent.
View 3 RepliesAfter several checks and resets , my Touareg clocks are fast by about 2 min/week. No other electrical problems. Not a known problem with my dealer. Clocks aren't hi-tech ... MFI may have clock module- seems overkill to change it.
View 24 RepliesDriving home today I was cruising along hwy about 50mph. I threw the shifter over to the manual mode and noticed immediately that it must put it into a lower gear than I was in when I was in automatic bc the rpm jumped up a little higher. I think it put me in 4th or 5th?? I put it back in auto mode and rpms went back to normal. I'm guessing it's the normal way it operates?

View 9 RepliesI was driving my r yesterday, cruising down the highway in 6th. I let off the gas and I heard a clunk from the tranny. The shifter moves forward with the noise after I let off the gas pedal. It does it most of the time and I didn't know if this was a problem with all Rs or something mechanically bad.

I messed up two launches and didn't think much of it (except for being terrible at launching). Later on after participants started showing up we put our cars away. I tried to back into my spot and my car wont go into reverse now. I can push the gear lever down and move it over to reverse but the transmission wont go into reverse.

So I went to vw.com to look at the gear ratios for a reality check. The site lists two final gear ratios for the manual. "Final I" is 3.94 and "Final II" is 3.09. When do you get one versus the other? With a final gear ration of 3.09, I get roughly 2400RPM at 60mph. But with a ratio of 3.94, I indeed get about 3000RPM at 60mph or 4100RPM at 80mph!!! That's absolutely insane.
I have a 2007 Volkswagen Jetta MKIV with an automatic 4 speed transmission (m01), and the car has only 100,000 kms on it, was always maintained either by myself or at the dealer, and never abused...ever!. Recently, I noticed that the transmission, going from 2nd to 3rd gear (and only 2nd to 3rd gear) will only sometimes hesitate...meaning the engine either revs a little bit (about 100rpm...yes one hundred) right before it changes gear, or if I'm going up-hill and it happens, it struggles to find the gear from 2nd to 3rd. However, this does not happen all the time, in fact, if someone who may not be as informed about cars, drove the car, the may never notice it. I checked with VCDS and no fault codes for transmission, only 2 fault codes from the engine misfiring because I sprayed the engine bay with water a while ago, and water accumulated in the dizzy.

View 12 Replies2200 Miles... It will not shift into 2nd gear in automatic and the rpms race up to 4000 when going about 20 mph. The only way to get it to work again is turning car off and on again. It has only happened twice.

When I shift gear and have almost completely released the clutch to move up into the next gear I get a clicking noise and feel from my transmission I think or maybe differential. This is with traction control off and is only noticeable at lower rpms like a low rpm shift from 1st into second.
