Golf IV / Jetta IV :: Start But Shut Off Immediately - ABS And ESP Lights Are On

My 2005 vw GTI doesn't like to start in the cold. It will start and I can rev it just for a second before it turns off again. My ABS and ESP traction control lights are on and they only turn on when I have this problem. Normally when it does this I can let it sit for a couple of hours and it will start as if nothing was even wrong. I took it to the dealer to do a full diagnostic on it and the only thing they could find was a faulty instrument cluster and I don't think that is what is causing my car not to start.

Golf IV R32 :: Clunking Noise When Let Off The Gas Immediately

I'm getting a clunking noise when i let off the gas immediately when the motor is under kind of a load, for example I'll give it a decent amount of throttle at around 2k-3k lets say and then let off fast and it'll make a CLUNK sound, kinda sounds like metal.almost kind of an axle sound...a lot of movement from the motor also. I am assuming it's motor mounts? I just did a stg2 bfi dogbone little while ago.

Corolla / Matrix 2009-13 :: Car Started But Immediately Shut Off

It's a 2012 Corolla. I disconnected the battery and the 2 grounds where the fender mounts in the front. I did this to do some body repairs. When I reconnected everything, the car started, but immediately shut off. What is wrong? Is it a computer issue where it needs to relearn?

IS F (2008-2014) :: Driver Side Headlight Goes Off Immediately When Shut The Car

Last night I noticed when I got out of the car my drivers side headlight was off while my passenger side light stayed on for about 20 more seconds.

At first I thought I just needed a new bulb, but tonight I saw both headlights are working when the car is on or when I turn the headlights on manually, but when I shut the car off the drivers side goes off immediately and the passenger side turns off in about 20 seconds.

I really like my auto-off after a little bit instead of it turning off immediately.

I haven't changed anything recently. Other than that I can't see any other problems. I swapped out my 08 headlights for 2014 headlights about a year ago and haven't had any problems.

Prius (2010-12) :: ICE Start And Immediately Shut Off Within 1 Second When Hit Power Button

I have a 2013 Prius Three. If I drive somewhere (engine completely warm) and stop, like at a store, come back 5-10 mins later, hit the power button, sometimes the ICE will start and immediately shut off, like within 1 second. It can't be the warm up cycle as the ICE is at normal operating temperature. I guess it is not a issue, as one of the 20 computers is doing this and there are no lights(like cel).

Golf V R32 :: Loud Brake Squeal - Thumping Noise Up Front Above 80mph

@ 45k miles.

1) Loud brake squeal left front on very light pressure. Pads have 75% left.

2) Vibrating/thumping noise up front above 80mph. Does not sound mechanical and not felt through the wheel at all. Seems like a loose piece of trim flapping. Wheel well liners and plastic pan under car seem tight. And no, driving under 80 is not an option.

Ford Ranger / B-Series :: Starts But Pressure Would Immediately Go Back To Zero When Shut Off

Got a 1986 Ranger 2.3 EFI 5 speed that I have owned since it was almost new and will never let it go. 290,000 mls and still running strong "except". Noticed the last couple of months that when I start it cold it fires right off. If I start it hot it always takes 3 tries and always goes on the third try except....on occasion it will not start at all. It is random and after I let it cool a bit (about 30 min) it will start. Over the years I have replace many of the fuel system components (fuel tank pump, high press. pump, inline filter and canister filter, fuel press regulator) but wondering what else might be the problem.

I put a pressure tester on it the other day and when I selected the key to start the pump would spool up to build pressure and shut off. The press gauge would register that but the pressure would immediately go back to zero. After start up it would hold a constant 30psi at all rpm,s. Shut the engine off and pressure drops right down to zero. Shouldn't the system hold pressure for at least a while after shut down? Could this be the problem with my sluggish starts? What would be the normal fuel pressure? Can't seem to find it in my Haynes manual. Once running it runs great.

Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: 2006 - Shut Off Immediately Now Won't Start?

My 2006 6.0 shut off immediatEly after starting this morning and never started back up. I have a scan Guage 2 hooked up. I'm showing no ficm voltage and no sync even when cranking. I physically checked the ficm voltage with a dvm at the screw to the far right on the ficm, and I have 48 volts. Why do I have 48 volts at the ficm, but 0 volts showing on my scan guage? And no sync when cranking?

Ford Ranger / B-Series :: 1984 2.8L Started Then Revved Up High And Shut Off Immediately

I just rebuilt the carb on the truck, it has the 2.8L, and when I went go go start it, it cranked for awhile until fuel filled the bowl, then it started and revved up high, I shut it off immediately and it turns out the throttle linkage was binding for some reason, I fixed that but now it wont restart.

I was cranking it for a while and gas started spewing out of the top, so I took the top of the carb off and reset the float height and now it doesn't spew gas.

I pulled the plugs and checked for spark and it's a really bright blue spark. I'm thinking it's just flooded, lots of gas on the plugs? I'm just waiting for it to clear out now and trying to brain storm what could be wrong.

Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: 2008 F350 - Started But Immediately Shut Down

Tried changing fuel filters on my 2008 F350 diesel. Tried primary - open drain - no tool to remove cap, closed drain. Removed top cap, replaced filter.

Started but immediately shut down. Did this twice. Put old filter back in - still no start. Wrench code light on.

Having that flash on the dash? Truck was running fine and the buzzer when off and dash said I think -- when safe stop and shut off engine immediately. Scared the scr-p out of me so not sure if that was word for word. Jump on the binders and got it off the road and called a wrecker. Now it's at the dealer waiting for them in the morning. Checked oil and don't see any leaks. Now I have lost my confidence in the truck. 42000 miles on it.

Golf VI R :: Strange Clicking Noise Coming From Throttle Body During Ignition Shut Off

So starting with the specs: I have a Stage III+ Golf R with about 39k Miles on it. Stage III+ was added at 17k miles and has treated me pretty good. The car is driven about 3 days a week and has the oil change interval of 3k miles.

Things that I've checked or done recently:

- Cam Follower: Wasn't too bad but seemed like the outer coating was wearing off on it so I replaced it.
- Oil change: Changed the oil about 1 week ago but hadn't driven it since then until yesterday were we did about a 50 mile road trip. (No unusual things noticed)

When we came back home and parked in the garage, I noticed the sound when I turned the ignition off. It was pretty noticeable as you will see in the video. Could I possibly have a bad throttle body on my hands?

Ok so my friends '06 automatic was making this horrible thumping noise. So I replaced the DR side axle assebly. Still thumping , so I replaced the the passenger side...STILL THUMPING!!! WTF I turn the wheel hard right or left I hear a 3-4 clicks when I back up. Wheel bearing? Unbalanced wheel? Broken engine mount?

Touareg :: Thumping Noise When Changing Gear

Experienced a thumping noise when changing gear (automatic gearing). FOr eg. when i change from P to R or even D, there's a thumping noise which i think comes from either the gearbox or the diff. either way, sometimes the thumping noise is there and some other times, its gone.

I've only done around 1500 kms since new and if there's no solution, i'll just take it to the dealer and get it diagnosed.

F Series :: 2004 - Thumping Noise While Braking

I have a 2004 Heritage Model F150 4x4 Manual Transmission V6

It started to make a thumping noise a while back when the brakes were applied hard, sounded like from the front end. I figured it was a warped rotor and/or bad pads or bad caliper bolts, the thumping and pulse seemed like that was what it was.

The front end was a mess. I ended up changing just about everything. CV axles both sides, one piece bearing/hubs, upper control arms, bushings, ball joints, tie rod ends, sway bar links, rotors, pads, calipers, hardware, maybe more things.

It all needed done, so no big deal, however the thumping while breaking is still there, it is getting worse and sounding more metallic. You can feel it in the steering wheel and under your feet. The drive shafts are very, very rusted, but seem to have no play in the u joints. I changed the back rotors, calipers, hardware and emergency brake parts and hardware a couple of years ago, they seem good. Taking it out of gear or pushing in the clutch or not pushing in the clutch seems to make no difference. You can go fast and let off the gas, no noise, you can aggressively downshift, no noise. Hit the brakes and you get a nice thump, thump, thump, like I said now it sounds even slightly metallic and getting worse.

I figure if nothing else before long something bad is going to happen and I will know what it is.

Elantra HD (2006-10) :: Thumping Road Noise

I took my 2010 Elantra to a shop to have a four wheel alignment done because my tires were showing unusual wear and I had the thumping road noise. My mechanic has a new computerized alignment system. He told me that my right rear wheel could not be aligned to factory specification because Hyundai did include a means to adjust by the amount needed. My car only has 63,000 miles on it.

I did some research and found that there are many people who are having the same problem with their Elantras. It causes excessive tire wear and that annoying thumping. Some shops have fixed the problem with non specific shims while Moog has come has come out with an adjustable arm that replaces one in the suspension so the camber can be adjusted.

I complained to Hyundai customer service about it and asked them why they made the rear end so it couldn't be aligned. They don't seem willing to admit that this is a chronic issue, possibly even a safety issue that needs to be addressed. So, I have to take my alignment readout to my dealer so they can look at and check the alignment problem for themselves which is most likely just a run around tactic.

Ford - F150 :: 1997 - Have Thumping Noise?

I have a 1997 F150 that has been making an odd noise (something new and different). It seems to be coming from the engine-ish area. It makes a hollow whooshing kind of noise, followed by a thump/thud that I can feel through the accelerator (think frighting off beat base drum living under the hood). It sounds like a very large valve of some kind closing. It does not do this all the time, and both times it has done it have been at low altitudes- might not mean anything but my truck doesn't seem to like low altitudes- it idles low there. It has done this twice now- once 2 or 3 times in a minute for about 50 miles and then it just stopped miracle!.

I added oil in the interim of that and I thought maybe that had worked- it was embarrassingly low- took 4 quarts to get it to read half way up the dipstick. I might have murdered my truck. It did it again when I was on a long trip, coming home. It only did it 4 or 5 times. My truck kindly listened to my desperate plea and hasn't made a peep since, which means I made it home but now I can't get my mechanic to have a clue. I tried that the first time and he said "hmm." That was incredibly useful. So do I need a new truck? I might be able to afford a 1998 model.

Golf/GTI VI :: Thumping Sound Coming From The Front Of Car

In the last few days I have been hearing like a thumping sound coming from the front of my car. It is happening when i going through a turn with some bumps, slightly aggressive, but not crazy. Haven't been in the canyon since it started so I am not sure how it will react pushing the car to about 7/10. Which is about as close to the limit as I will get off track. The sound has come at about say 4/10. just off ramps and stuff. It sounds very similar to a car with very tight coilovers. Could it be the XDS working? It isn't a clicking like a traditional diff, and I don't expect that it is. But obviously I don't have a lot of driving experience with an electronic diff like the XDS. I will take the car to VW as soon as i have time.

Windstar :: 2002 - Intermittent Thumping Noise In Engine

My 02 Windstar has developed an intermittent thumping noise in the engine. A bit of history: She has been sitting for a few months because she was throwing a P303 code that I could not track down. Here in IL, you cannot renew your plates until you pass an emissions check, and you cannot pass the check if a code is stored.

Well, I got a warning ticket for expired plates, and I had my daughter's car as alternate transportation while she is in the Peace Corps, so I parked Mr. Breeze, intending to get to her on the weekend. Except for throwing the code and gas mileage being a bit down, she was running fine when I parked her.

Well, life happened, and I never seemed to be able to put the time aside, but now winter is coming and I don't want to subject her ride to the snow, so I made time and replaced the coil, plugs, and wires. But when I started her up, there is an intermittent thumping noise in the engine compartment.

I have double checked the wires, and I think I have them right. As I understand it, the right bank plug wires go on the coil towers 1,2,3. and the left bank wires go on the towers 6,5,4. Is that right?
