so I am coming up my driveway with about 4 inches of snow.... with TC on... and it bogged and stopped.... soi was like huh.... lets put this bitch to the test... so I put it back in gear, and it bogged and stalled..... so I am stuck... I live up a pretty steep hill and I have the Haldex mod.. but it seems that the rear wheels aren't spinning in both TC mode and non-TC.

View 2 RepliesYesterday I was parked on an incline with my front wheels on gravel and the rear wheels on wet grass/mud. When I tried to go, the rear wheels started spinning. I then switched on the low 4x4, and tried to go. The rear wheels continued to spin, but the front did not turn. I had new wheels installed, that has a cap that covers the manual locking hub, so I couldn't turn it to lock the hub. What should I look for to fix the problem?
2007 F250 4X4 Larriat SRW
2001 Toyota Sequoia LTD, 115,000 miles, replaced cal & discs & steering rack bushings early last year. Lately after 20 to 30 minutes of hwy at 70mph touching the brakes to shave off 10 to 15mph causes heavy vibrations from the front brakes like the wheels aren't round. No lights, ABS or VSC, no noise from the ABS unit. Same in 2WD, 4WD, VSC on or off. Touch the brakes from 70mph and it feels like slowing/stopping on washboard??? Tech checked, no codes present . Brakes function fine around town as does the ABS & VSC, alignment good.
View 1 RepliesI got stuck on ice. FrontWD. Wheels spinning off and on 10 minutes. Got towed. Front end was vibrating btwn 40 and 60 afterwards. Mechanic rebalanced tires and wheels, told me I had damaged wheels from potholes, burnt out the ABS sensors in front, overheated all the brake components, and needed new everything, pads, rotors etc. Brakes are 3 months old. I decided to wait. He put everything back on. No more vibration. Brakes seem fine. What to do?
View 10 RepliesUpon putting on my winter wheel i was checking if the bolts were too long and my rear passenger side wheel wasn't spinning. I took the wheel off and checked the rotor and it took a lot of force to spin because the caliper didn't go back. I took the brake fluid line out hoping it would decompress the caliper and it did not, and brake fluid leaked out a tiny bit. This leads me to believe that my caliper is bad. Just want to make sure before I order another one

View 1 RepliesI replaced the rear brakes on my 2003 Jetta 2.0. Reman. Calipers, new pads and rotors.
I bleed the rear right and then the rear left. Have full pressure in the pedal but the disc in grinding at low speeds and when I apply the brakes the rear wheels almost lock up.
It was brought to my attention that staggered wheels Can blow out the rear dif? Is this common? I currently have 18x8 and 18x9 rear summer wheels and I haven't seen any issues occur yet.
View 12 RepliesI noticed a few days ago that when I back out of my driveway, or any time I go in reverse, when i turn, either direction, it feels lime my rear wheels are skidding across the pavement. Now I know that can't be happening because it hasn't always acted that way and it's just illogical. But what it could be, cv joint? Do I have any in the rear.
View 7 RepliesI have an 01 Alero that is a great little car with only 80k on it. Runs and drives like a champ but it has 2 issues that drive me nuts. The AC doesn't work at all. If you press the button on the dash, it does not light up. The compressor doesn't do anything either. I did check all the fuses trying to eliminate the simple but I didn't find any bad ones. What would be my next thing to check? Is it ever the AC relay?
Then the one that really frustrates me: the rear defrost. I live in MI, so 75% of the morning I need it to clear either snow, ice or fog. The button works but the lines don't heat up. I checked them all for power and none have power. I also checked each one for breakage and continuity and they are fine. I saw somewhere that the connection at the module likes to fry but I inspected it and didn't see anything burned.
When driving over where road changes the incline (the degree from the horizontal plane; don't have the correct word for it) and the car is supposed to stabilize itself, the rear part of the car jumps up and down for several times, which feels as if rear shockers aren't working and the springs are shaking the car up and down.

View 2 RepliesSo far I've been through 1 set of tires (after 12,000 miles), stepper motor, new cd changer, trouble with TPMS system and more Now that my stepper motor is replaced (dealer said he wasn't aware of any widespread trouble with this part, what a joke) I hear a humming noise, constant from rear axle area, drowned out by engine while driving. Noise sounds like a fan spinning or electronic interference you might get if your cell phone is close to a computer or tv with volume off. I don't recall this noise previously although I rarely drive this car it's my wife's.

View 3 RepliesBoth of my headlights are aimed too low. the left one seems to be even lower than the right. I took it into the dealer & apparently the leveling unit isn't responding & they're going to replace module tomorrow. (part is being rushed in)
Anyhow, i also noticed that prior to this trip to the dealer i had my DRL lights off. Now i guess they turned em back on because they're on all the time now. I don't like that option on, looks like I'm going to have to get my own VAG work done.
I know the RX350 isn't a real SUV designed to go off-road, but after the recent blizzard on the East Coast I am really disappointed by the AWD in this car. My driveway is plowed by a truck so it is very clean, but the city plow leaves maybe a small 5 inch high pile that about 1 feet across after it goes by. My RX350 couldn't through that the front wheels just kept spinning. I tried snow mode and even push the 4 Lock which I think does nothing. The back wheel didn't even spin once it seemed like I was driving a FWD car.
Our older RX330 a 2004 model got stuck also, but when we jabbed the gas after a few seconds the car made this weird screeching sound and you could see the back wheels spin as it climbed the driveway no problem albeit slowly. Its a bit disappointing to see an older RX has better AWD then the newer models. I mean the back wheels didn't even spin on my 2010 the front wheels just spun. I tried turn traction control off, 4 lock, and snow mode no luck. Also when going up the 2010 kept sliding sideways on my 04 the steering felt washy, but at least it was sliding off the driveway.
I also had A6 before this and it has never gotten stuck and its a lower car so its not like a drive my car through snow bank. We ended driving the older RX everywhere this weekend as the 2010 is not very assuring when it snows.
So, I was attempting to install license plate lights rather impatiently in a parking lot the other night at my weekly meet. I pulled out the factory lights, put in the LEDs, reconnected them, turned them on and all systems were go. I shut the lights off and at that point went and screwed the license plate light housings back into place and went and turned the lights on again, and they were not working, at all. I then decided to reinstall the stock bulbs and check it out, and they were not working at all either. So I haven't gotten to dig too much on this at all, but the headlights and taillights still work so I know it isn't the switch.
Plans for Tomorrow: Pull the light housings back out, take photos of everything, make sure all electrical connections are clean and looking good, and then try to get to the bottom of it.
Noticed this afternoon that as it got dark outside, all dash and door lights aren't working.
The gauge cluster lights, VERY dimly, but delays by appx 2 seconds before coming on? Only switch light that still works right is the Red ring on the Headlight switch.
Again this is all lights, except lights in headliner work fine, gauge cluster lights very dimly with a delay?
Not getting any cold air. A/C compressor is not spinning. Fuses look ok. What else can I check before I take it to a shop?
