Will rear hatch not open with switch or key? How do you get the rear panel off with the hatch closed? Seen a few threads about this problem but no real details on how to pop it off.
View 6 RepliesHaving problem with the rear hatch on their 2007 2.0T Wagon rear hatch opening by itself? I have had it happen twice now, once in the garage and this am I woke up and it was open in the driveway.
I also seem to be having an issue with the passenger window when I close it, it sometimes gets to the top and then starts to go down again.
I was busy playing with my license plate lights over the weekend and came across how to reduce the beep volume when opening the rear hatch when using the remote or indash power door button. I'm not sure if this has been discovered before but thought I would post in case no one knows about it.
I have done this mod on my car and I haven't had any adverse effects and everything works perfectlyfine (no new lights, errors or anything else). It doesn't get rid of the noise, but it does reduce it down to the same volume as when you unlock/lock your car. Open your rear power door
Carefully pry away the bottom section of the interior panel of the rear door (this will be the side furthest away from the rear window glass). The trim is held in place by plastic clips that will pop out. A gentle but firm tug will remove the first one and the rest will just follow as you work your way around.
Once this is open look on the end side of the door. You will notice a black box with one end being rounded. There will be a plug that fits into this. Remove the plug and stow away. I stowed mine back behind the part of the loom it extends from to keep it out the way
Put the trim back and enjoy that annoying beep now being a lot quieter. The rest of the beep is at the front of the car and looks to hide somewhere underneath the shroud of the wiper blades where the front struts sit. It looks to be from the same area as the speaker for the alarm, so probably won't be able to completely kill the noise.
I checked my rx350 battery health and it is good. Still I am having recurrent issues when battery dies. And needs a restart. It happened many times and last one just happened this morning and I have feeling that this is related to rear hatch door...let me explain what happened:
Yesterday evening I went for grocery shopping and opened the rear hatch door using my car key remote, kept the groceries and closed the rear hatch using the button on the bottom of rear hatch door. I drove back to home and parked the vehicle in the garage. This morning I opened the rear hatch again and closed it, drove it to a house one block away, returned home and parked the car.
When I tried to start 1 hour later, the battery had already died. So, I have a feeling that opening and closing the rear hatch door 3 times caused this battery drain.
Can I disable unlocking of all the doors when I open the rear hatch from the outside? I figured out that if I use my fob, the doors does not unlock.
View 4 RepliesI've been having an issue with my hatch not opening the first several times I press the unlock button on the remote. For reference it's the car door unlock button I'm pressing, not the hatch one as that one has never done anything when I've pressed it.
I thought it was due to the faulty rear view camera I had installed (the emblem pops out) but I just got a new one installed 2 days ago and it's doing the same thing. It's gotten so bad I've had to go open the drivers door and press unlock from inside there to get it open.
I'm wondering if there is a problem with the latch getting stuck or something. I've never had it not close all the way or anything like that which I hear is more common than the issue I'm having. I will take a pic of the pin in the trunk that I'm talking about.
2013 SFS 2.0T.... Rear hatch locks/unlocks good. When opening hatch illumination light will NOT turn on. Yet I can manually turn it on (switch by the light itself). It will stay on forever if in that "mode".
Front passenger/driver light unit was replaced under warranty. Just recently noticed it that rear hatch light issue...
How the rear hatch opens up fully with a click on the remote, but closing it is another matter. Manual says to grab the handle inside and swing down but I can't seem to close it without having to push down on the outer hatch. Is there a trick ???
View 15 RepliesFor 6 months of ownership, the rear hatch apparently has never been locked. I can lock all other 4 doors, expect the latch apparently won't lock by itself. and I can't physically lock it with the key as it looks like the lock is seized. What are my options? Do I have to get a used rear hatch or is there someway of locking it from the inside?
Looking at some videos online, it looks to be that the actuator motor in the trunk could be the possible culprit?
So, I'm pulling my hair out now. I loaned my car to a friend for a few months while I was out of the country and now that I've gotten it back, the rear hatch will only open with the key. I've searched online for days and tried several things but, nothing is working. Here's what's going on and what I've tried.
The back opens perfectly with the key (i.e. there's nothing stuck in the latch)
When I use the fob, the lights flash but the actuator doesn't move (there's no noise other than the lights flashing)
When I pull the switch in the drivers door nothing happens (can't remember if the lights are supposed to flash or not but they DON'T now)
When I lift on the handle in the trunk nothing happens
I've pulled the interior back hatch cover off and tried to activate the actuator using a 9V battery and it did nothing so, I thought it was a dead actuator. I just dropped $60 on a new one, plugged it in, shut the hatch and nothing happened....
I don't have access to VAGCOM or anything like that so, hopefully there are things that I can test w/o that?
Just noticed today that when my exterior lights are on and I open the rear hatch, as soon as the latch pops the inner taillights (the ones on the hatch) go out. Do I have a wiring problem or is this normal? Just seems kinda odd; never saw a car with trunk-or-hatch-mounted tails extinguish them when the trunk/hatch is opened.
Oh, 2011 Golf TDI btw.
When my car is cold I can hear some noises coming from the rear hatch or rear bumper....
View 2 RepliesI'm having my rear emblem painted gloss black and body color. I need to remove the entire rear hatch latch. A friend of mine said that there is a link on vortex that explains how to take it off. I tried finding it, but had no luck. Don't think I'm searching correctly.
View 8 RepliesMy '11 GTI was bought used, and the rear hatch springs are way too tight. The hatch will spring all the way open when i push the remote, which is good but it's a PITA to close. My gf can't close it and I have to muscle it down. I tried other Golf cars and it takes 2-4x more effort on mine. Is there a way to loosen the springs a bit?

If there is a fuse, I don't see it on the fuse map. Does stick open imprecisely when using the emblem, but little tricky. Where/which fuse?
Experienced, rear window shattering after you shut your hatch? Weather conditions: Snow, unsure of what the temperature was at the moment, but i was brushing snow and scraping ice off my window.
View 5 RepliesSo I cant figure out where this is coming from. It only happens when the car is in low RPM. Like starting from a stop or going slow in very low RPM I hear plastic rattling constantly. I went in the back and the only thing that is making similar noise is when I tap on the plastic cover of the rear hatch under the window.
View 3 RepliesI am having trouble removing the rear passengers side panel. Whoever owned the car before me must have removed it and not put in back on properly, its way off aligned. You can see in the pics exactly what I am talking about. I tried to remove the panel last night and was having issues and thought i was going to break something. I don't want to snap any clips off and not have the panel fit back on properly. How this panel is properly removed?

View 23 RepliesI bought a new 2014 RX450H in late December of 2013. The car has 5000 mikes on it now and today when cleaning the car, I noticed (hard to believe but true) 3 separate rust spots coming through the finish on the back hatch panel. I know I need to contact the dealer, but should I be screaming for a new body panel or just accept the fact the my new car has to be repainted? This is the 4th RX I have had. Never ever had a problem before.

I've heard from a few people that there's likely some sort of access point for this car but I haven't gotten any specifics. I'd rather not have the PDR guy drill a hole in the wheel well for the needed access.
I do see what looks like factory hole with rubber cover behind where the door closes (lower part) ..
