View 13 RepliesMy alarm is arming but no horn sound. No horn when the ignition is not on. I get flashing lights when the alarm is armed and set off, but no horn. What this could be? Is there a separate horn for the alarm? And where is it located?
View 8 RepliesSo I don't have the option of turning off the chirp from my convenience menu...like it says in the owner's manual.Any way to activate this via vag com?
View 3 RepliesAs the title states, my alarm horn chirps when opening the unlocked passenger door in my '03 Golf. Asked the master tech about it and we sat there scratching our heads for a while. Nothing he's ever seen or heard before. What set of conditions would create this?
View 2 RepliesCar doesn't chirp or panic. Where the siren for the alarm is located ? Got t-reg back after service today and it doesn't work.
View 8 RepliesI recently had to have e my alarm replaced on the car and after i left the dealer i parked and locked the car and came to notice that the chirp is no longer a chirp but a high pitched very loud beep that lasts longer than the previous chirp. The odd thing is that when i activate the alarm it sounds exactly as it should. I contact the dealer and asked if they gave me the right alarm and assured me that it is right and properly installed. What is going on??
View 6 RepliesSo I had my hood open to check my oil, not a big deal for a 2001 Jetta 1.8t. When I shut the hood, the car decided to simultaneously lock, and now the horn/alarm is going off and the key fob won't unlock the car or disable the alarm. And the keys don't work in the door/trunk so I can't get inside. What I should do?
View 5 RepliesSo last night I washed the R, pulled it out of the garage to squeegee the floor, and brought it back in. Then I heard this weird squeak chirp sound... tracked it to of all places, the engine compartment of my R! Thought I had a mouse in there.. didn't find anything.
So tonight I took the wife out for supper. Got home, parked the R, same sound, but only faster! Here's a video of the sound, sounds like it's coming from the engine bay for sure. Weird, right? I did some googling and didn't find anything else. Seems like it must slow down when it's colder. Because last night it was once every 30 seconds or so.
So my mk6 developed what initially sounded initially like a bad serpentine belt tensioner. Only under anything more than load, and sounded like a bird chattering under the hood. Got outside today, fired car up, watched tensioner and it sat there steady as a rail. The noise is coming from the opposite side of the engine. Not really mechanical/metallic at all and tracks under load with the RPMs. Why i initially thought what i did. Not I'm sort of baffled.
View 3 RepliesEver since i bought my .:R (3weeks ago) there has been this 'squeak' or 'chirp' sound whenever i hit a bump or rough road. Car only has 22k miles on it so this is way too early for any noises to be coming up. I've spoken to a few friends and they think it might be the bushings or my suspension was installed incorrectly. What it may be?
View 20 RepliesI have been experiencing a strange sort of loud induction/air turbulence/chirp noise right when I begin to apply the throttle at 750-1000 RPMs. It's the type of induction noise you would expect to hear from a car with an open filter intake if you shifted into 6th gear at very low speed(bogging, chirpy noise) Only been happening for a week.
I have an APR intake, and my initial thought was that maybe the tone of the intake had changed a little since it has gotten colder....but you actually cannot even hear the noise under the hood, let alone near the intake. It is only noticeable from inside the cabin. It happens regardless of clutch engagement and a/c. Car drives fine other than that.
It started happening with the soundaktor unplugged. I actually plugged it back in since then in hopes that it might mask the noise.

New 2015 Mercedes E350 wagon ..... The day after I took delivery, I tried to open the new wagon's doors (it has a keyless feature) and nothing happened. I tried again and still nothing happened. I then took the smartkey out of my pocket and tried to click open the locks and nothing happened. I then took the ancillary key out of the smartkey and unlocked the car manually. This set off the alarm which would only stop when I closed the door and relocked the car.
Also, the car would not start. It was like I had broken in to the car. A few minutes later, while waiting for roadside assistance to speak with me, I tried the door handle again and discovered that the doors would now open keylessly. I have driven the car several times since the incident (which occurred yesterday) and it has not repeated the problem. What caused the problem? Is this a one time glitch or am I in danger of being stranded somewhere?
So I get home from work around 4 am and my alarm keeps going off but nobody is doing anything to make it go off. And if so how did u fix it?
View 5 RepliesOnce I was driving down the street, stopped at a red light, and then the alarm just started going off! I sat there and looked around for a couple of seconds and realized that it was my car. I figured out hitting the panic button turned it off. Happened again the next day, but not since. Whats up with that?!
View 8 Replies I have the car in storage for the winter, and from time to time i will go out and start it. I also hook up one of those automatic battery tenders every so often to make sure that my battery doesn't die completely. I bought the car about 3 months ago, and when i bought it, i could tell within seconds that the car needed a new battery. I will buy one and install it as soon as i am ready to start driving it again. So thats the background story.
My problem is this.... for some reason, with no regularity, the alarm just starts going off. Sometimes it will go off shortly after i ran the car, sometimes it will go off when the car has been completely undisturbed for days. Im wondering what is causing this. I have read things about the sensors having trouble with moisture, but i don't think that is the problem because it has been inside the garage for over 2 months.
All buttons on my key fob now cause the alarm to go off, and it won't deactivate. Even when the car starts up it still goes. Changed battery in my key- nothing. Reset battery- nothing. So what is the cause Battery? Key fob? Fuse? What is going on?
View 4 RepliesAfter being to a dealership to set up alarm, i noticed that hidden menu bar wich appear when i put the finger close, doesn't work. Is there any option to turn on that function or something else could be a problem?

Key fob has not worked for awhile so I use the physical key to lock and unlock the door. I locked the doors when I went to the movies last night come out and unlocked the doors as I always do, Get in and start my car and the alarm starts going off.
So of course I have a little freak out moment after about 30 seconds it went off. So I turn the car off and start it again same thing happened. I say screw it and drive it and the alarm shuts off once more.
I did notice when I got home and turned the car off the red light by the drivers side door lock knob was blinking.
I have looked all over the place and everything that I read says the car won't start. My car starts and drives just fine it's just when I first start it the alarm goes off for about 30-45 seconds.
My 04 jetta, if I use any buttons on the remote it sets the alarm off. I've checked with a vag com and can see all the doors, hood and trunk open and close. Central locking works, it locks at speed, and will lock / unlock all the doors from the drivers door lock .
View 3 RepliesHow good the alarm on a B6 is. I mean, it goes off when the doors are opened and the alarm is on...but how easy is it to steal a Passat.
I wanna put a navi in and do a few things...but I just don't feel ok doing them and knowing I don't have a GREAT alarm.
This morning, while getting ready for work, my car's alarm sounded. I ran outside in the rain, and it was beeping and flashing, but there was no one around. I unlocked the doors, looked inside, everything looked fine. Shut her up, reset the alarm. Not 2 minutes pass and it goes off again. Same drill. This time I start the car and the MFA indicates the rear compartment is open, I check and it's not. I open it, shut it, and reset the alarm. You know what happens next, the alarm goes off.
