Dec 19, 2011
It sounds like something plastic above ish the rear driver side wheel.
Like a: fwap fwap fwap when I shut my door.
Really bothersome. Always had it.

.:R have a faint "squeak squeak" noise directly after shutting down?
View 4 RepliesHave body work and/or any type of repair that required their doors be removed? I got my car back from the body shop and I'm noticing that the two doors that needed to be replaced just don't sound the same when they close compared to the other (factory) side. It's difficult to describe in text, but the original doors have a solid, singular and non-vibrating sound. The new doors seem more hollow and have what I would describe as a double-sounding close instead of a singular one. They sound like there's one extra vibration or movement when closing. I realize that this is probably not immensely important.
View 4 RepliesI've had my 2011 Hyundai Sonata Limited for one full year now and this is the first problem I've encountered, and its a strange one.
After parking and shutting off the vehicle (with the push button since I have the smart fob) if I exit the vehicle and shut the door the car will produce a loud BEEP for several seconds. If I look through the window, the screen on the instrument cluster will very briefly say "key not in vehicle" as if I had left the engine running, but actually the engine is off. The message goes away after a second or two, but the beep continues for a few more seconds.
After the beep stops, I'm able to lock the doors normally by pushing the button on the door handle or using the remote. It seems to happen about every other time I park/get out of the car, but it is random. The only pattern I've found is it always happens if I am in a rush. If I turn off the car, open and close the door quickly, it almost always beeps at me. But if I turn off the car, sit inside for a few extra seconds and THEN get out, it seems to be fine. What could be causing this?
Had this issue for a while, but it doesn't seem to cause a problem. It's more of a curiosity than anything... Most of the time, the dome light operates as usual- close the door and the light stays on for a bit before shutting off. But about a quarter of the time, the light goes off immediately after the door is shut. It's done this the entire time I've owned the truck (about 2-1/2 years). Why?
View 1 RepliesTruck '02 F250 SuperCab - I was having an issue with the door ajar light staying on and the radio not shutting off upon exiting the truck. After having no luck with the WD-40 fix, I replaced the door switch sensor on the driver's side door and disconnected the negative battery cable for a few minutes (maybe 5-10).
Problem solved or so I thought...a few days later (approximately 5) the door ajar light came back on and the radio did not shut off. I disconnected the negative cable and sure enough that fixed it...again The problem is that every few days I have to go thru this. I'm not sure if it's related or not, but the CD player has started giving me "error reading disc" on even brand new CD's.
So I will start the car, take off drive it for a few minutes (for like 15-30 minutes) I will come to a light, fine, then I will take off and she will stall on me. Completely turned off. Try to turn it back on and she doesn't turn over. She cracks, thats it. I will then wait a few minutes she will turn on and then few minutes later she will do the same.
The car has been sitting for some time and I haven't been driving it. We made sure the Throttle body is good. Someone told me it can be the crank sensor?
When I turn on my headlights my driver side reverse light comes on. I haven't gone through and rung out the harness to find the short yet.
View 13 RepliesProblems with gas gauge just randomly shutting off? I was driving home from Tennessee yesterday, and was closely monitoring my MPG on the MFD and my gas gauge... I look down to see the MFD read ----- MPG and the gas gauge was completely shut off.
View 17 RepliesSo this morning I started my car to let it warm up (as I usually do), but noticed it shut off after a few minutes. It did this twice. 3rd time I tried to start it nothing happened, so I waited a minute then tried again, that time it started. Drove it to work without any issues.
View 21 RepliesMy Prius makes a noise (maybe a pump noise?) after shutting down car. I shut down and it makes the noise as I'm getting out - it lasts maybe 5-10 seconds. It sounds like a pump is running and a bearing is going bad. Attached, zipped video is about 1.5MB, 10sec long.
View 8 RepliesWhen I turn off my 2010 Golf TDI it sounds like a jet shutting off. I've had the car for over a year and it just started doing this. Is this just a noisy fan winding down?
View 12 RepliesI went to check out a TDI. Got there and it had to be jumped (45F) The glow plug harness was bad. but even after we got it started and drove it for several miles to get it to operating temp, it was still difficult to start after shutting it off. Shouldn't it start up easily after being warmed up even if the glow plug harness was bad?
View 10 RepliesExperienced, rear window shattering after you shut your hatch? Weather conditions: Snow, unsure of what the temperature was at the moment, but i was brushing snow and scraping ice off my window.
View 5 RepliesDrove my car for the time in a week, i picked up a 89 gli 16v, and when I shut the car off and was getting my backpack out of my trunk i started to hear like a weird noise, kinda like a pump was pushing fluid or air from the rear of the car, it did it for about 20 - 30 seconds then stopped. No cel light and only a lil over 50k on the car.

My brother informs me that when he was driving on the highway yesterday in his BMW 530xi he heard tap (tappet) noise. He put in a can of oil. Noise lowered. But 100 miles after the engine flashed signs that engine is shutting down. He pulled to side and the car computers shut down. There was some oil on the ground. But the engine oil level is not dangerously low. He does not think its transmission fluid but engine oil that has leaked. He was towed to a nearest hotel. He is waiting to take his car to the BMW garage this morning. (By the way he had a recent oil change done).
View 6 RepliesI have a 2015 Sonata 2.0T limited, and there is a noise coming from the back, driver's side, after shutting off the motor. I've taken it in 3 times for this, and each time they say nothing is wrong; but, I've driven a lot of cars and trucks, and I've never heard a noise like this.
I'm guessing it's some kind of gas tank related valve that's closing, but it's making a very loud noise each time.
30-40 seconds after shutting down the engine, i can hear a single "clack/click" noise coming from under the hood, near the right wheel. Is it normal? What's moving, some sort of electrovalve/actuator?
I hear it being out of the car, inside it's not so easy to listen. It's well after I turn off the key and it does it only once. It's not really near the wheel, with the hood open i located the CLACK behind the engine (on the side near the windscreen), could it be something related with fap / etc.?
My car shakes pretty good when shutting off the car plus when stopped when in park or neutral. Bought this car used with 3k, so I am not original owner. I believe (without looking) that I own #3887.
View 4 RepliesI got home yesterday around 5 pm, and after 5 1/2 hours, noticed a buzzing noise from the battery area. It was 50 degrees out, so I don't think it needed cooling? Anyway, I plugged it in for a minute and the sound changed, then unplugged and after a few minutes the sound shut off. Never experienced this before, so long after shutting down. No sound this morning and charging now, no problem so far.
View 10 RepliesJust recently noticed in the past 2 weeks, that after shutting off my Tuscon, about a minute or 2 later it makes a popping noise coming from the back. It almost sounds like a piece of metal when it expands.
