Golf IV R32 :: Moaning Noise When Making Left Lane Changes And Going Straight
Dec 14, 2012
I've been having this moaning noise coming from either my wheel bearings or something else. I'm not quite sure what exactly it is, but it's real bad when I'm making left lane changes and going straight. when I turn right, or lane change right, it's silent.

my 1992 960 wagon with 332K miles today started making a moaning noise when making a significant turn at low speed. At first it seemed to be only when I was accelerating but if that was true, it now is doing it at any low-speed big turn. Tonight, turning around in the driveway, it added what I call juddering during the turn. So naturally I am concerned. If it is something as minor as power steering fluid I might trust a local gas station to fill it up, but probably not any more than that. (There used to be a dealer about 45" away, but they seem to be gone now, and the closest one is hours away. I am 250 miles and one week away from my own trusted mechanic, so I hope it is something like fluid!).I haven't noticed any puddles on the driveway where it is parked, but I suppose it could leak out only when the engine is on and the car is moving.

So, I put my RCs with Eagle F1 DSG3s back on and now I have noise. I thought there was some rubbing, so I spaced them out tonight, but the noise is still there. I thought it could be my alignment, so I got an alignment, still noise.
It happens when I'm going straight and when I turn left, but not at all when I turn right, things get quiet. It sounds like a a rubber rubbing noise but i took the wheel off and I couldn't see any wear... Could it just be tire noise??

The other day I hit a good size bump at speed, slightly bent a wheel which I didn't even notice at first. The car drove straight and had no other symptoms, thought everything was okay. A couple days later I heard a weird grinding noise while making a left hand turn, it was so faint I honestly thought it was the fender liner. After the noises continued and further examination I noticed that the carrier is rubbing the rotor on the lower drivers side corner.

My car started making a kinda rubbing noise when I'm driving and turning all the way to the left or right, do I damaged the power steering? I know there was a thread about this but I can't find it,

On my way to work this morning guy pulled a left turn from a side street while I was in the rightmost lane. He pulled wide and forced me off the road. In dogging him, I hit the curb, went up on both wheels. Did not catch his plate (I go to work at 5AM, it was very dark and I was distracted because my car would not drive straight). I noticed I had to turn my wheel 35 degrees to the left to keep the car going straight.
All said, they are at 2k already on the estimate to replace most of my front right suspension and wheel. Probably going to replace the back one too. They have not even taken the thing apart yet. The only good news is my deductible is only 500 bucks and there was no cosmetic damage.

Took delivery of car and alignment is way off. Steering wheel is turned left when car is straight. The dealership is trying to charger me for a alignment. Car has 2500 miles on it and came from factory this way.

I've ignored it long enough and dont remember if it was like this when I bought it from the second owner...guess I had too much fun during the test drive. Any ways would it be an alignment issue up front or what?

I have 2010 Corolla S with manual transmission and ever since I bought this car I've been having issues with it's steering especially on the highway between 60-70 mph when the behavior is the worst.
The car is really hard to keep inline and even though I try to keep the steering wheel centered the car just bounces around the lane from left to right. I'm sure most of you know what I'm referring to.Now, I involved my dealer into this problem few months ago and the service manager (when I pressed him during the test drive) kind of admitted that he knows what I mean but he can't do anything about it until Toyota Corporate issues an official fix to it.
Surprise surprise, I just found TSB-014010 (URL...) last week online which seems to be the fix I'm looking for and based on the comments on this forum and edmunds.com it seems to either fix completely or mostly fix the issue for the people who had it done already.
However when trying to show this TSB to my dealer's service (the same service manager as before) and schedule the appoitment I notice that they are very defensive about it and try to dismiss my claims with statements like: "they all drive like that" or "it may be tire preasure" or "based on the description that you gave us and the TSB it's not the same issue" .

So I've recently noticed a noise from the front end. It sounds like a plastic to metal, or metal to metal. It's more of a clicking. It's not sequential, and I can not purposely make it happen. It happens when I drive straight, up hills, and sometimes in turns. It does not happen, when I hit bumps, get on the throttle, or brake. The car doesn't seem sluggish, nor does it feel untidy in the corners. I think it's suspension, but that would make a difference in the ride quality.
I've looked at my coilovers, everything is tight. I recently replaced my sway bar links, but everything is tight and the sway bar isn't loose. I removed my spacers, changed wheels, and the car still makes this noise.
It kind of sounds like something is hitting the firewall, or something is hitting the subframe. I didn't notice this before I did any work to the car. I changed the oil, trans fluid, rear diff fluid, and haldex filter and fluid. I don't think this has anything to do with my noise though. I do have a little shake at idle, kinda like the exhaust is hitting the subframe. That goes away when I'm driving, and is a different noise.
now that I think about it more, it just sounds like something is loose and making contact. Like a loose spring, or sway bar bracket. The problem is I've checked those and they aren't loose, with the car up, and the car down(on a lift) Nothing appears to be loose, and I'm not sure what to check from here.

Just noticed a new sound. When making left turns only, a sound comes from the right. Sort of continuous high pitched. What is wrong?

So 2 months after my accident I'm finally able to drive again and my car is 100% fixed and ready. Only 1 problem, every time I make a left turn my car makes this weird noise but I don't know what it is. I replaced my suspension and I thought it would take a couple days for the tightness to wear down and for the noise to go away, but of course with my luck it's still doing it. What can it be??

just had 2 turbos replaced on v10. 4 wheel alignment checked twice. car pulls to left. Steering wheel is also not straight. have to put slight pressure down on right side of steering wheel to stop veering to left.

My front left door, when opening and closing, makes that grinding/clicking/popping type noise coming from the hinges (I'm guessing)...I'm searching for the correct word to use to describe it...like when the door would be off kilter or something and the metal is catching...if that makes sense...you can hear it when moving the door, not just at the halfway point of being opened/closed where it will stay in that position ... There has been no damage to that area...no weight put down on door when opened...and it started out of nowhere.

I have a 2004 Honda CR-V, 100k, just did its 90k maintenance (a little late) and also had the ball joints replaced. Brought back from the mechanic and heard clicking sound when turning wheel hard left or hard right, only at low speeds, usually when parallel parking or simply sitting in park, turning wheel back and forth. Right back to the mechanic: they checked it out, re-lubricated everything, drove it, said it was OK. I got it home, still clicking. Safe to drive this weekend? It's back to the shop on Monday.

What the heck could it be? It gets a little louder on left-hand curves of the road, but pretty much constant. Its not the tires, they are new as of a few months ago.

Jetta starts making a noise on the front left side when I turn sharp rights like in parking lots. There is no VW dealer within a 2hr drive. Take it to local auto repair shop. The guy says it's the wheel bearings on the front left. The Jetta makes a different sound originating from the left front than originally still when turning right sharply.
BTW this sound isn't very loud and is not grinding or popping more of a whoopwhooopwhoooop Go home take off tire. One lugbolt twists off with fingers. First bad sign. Rotors on front not pretty but pretty smooth brake pads look brand new. Still really thick no uneven wear.
Do a sharp left u turn to get to auto parts store. Afs/bulb failure pops on. Solid warning light yet all the bulbs are working fine.
Turn car off. Go buy rotors. Ask about light no one knows. Go back out start car. Light is gone.. okay that was weird.
Replace rotors anyway so they are nice and shiny lube up the important parts. Put everything back together.back out of garage stupid bulb light is back on... restart jetta Its off.
Start driving everything sounds fine... parking lot test left turns quiet right turn SAME FREAKING NOISE. It has never made any noise when driving straight or on curvy road just sharp right turns.

I installed 2 new axles and replaced the upper motor mounts in my car. Now when I turn to the right the left front tire is running against the coilover and making my car vibrate. I put a 5mm spacer to give it some clearance but it didn't make much of a difference. What could be wrong?

The leather on my steering wheel was peeling off and I brought it up to the dealer and out of their goodwill, they decided to replace it with a completely new one. Props to the dealer. However this is where all the problems start to occur. I drop off the car This past Sunday and pick up a loaner. I get a call the next day saying my car is ready. So I get there and everything seems good.
There's an open road that I like to take home but this is where I noticed something weird. When my steering wheel was level, the car was veering right.. I had to tilt the steering wheel a little left to go straight . I call the dealership right away and they tell me to bring it back. So I do that and pick up another loaner.
Following day , I go back to the dealership and they tell me they fixed the alignment. Now everything is good! I was yet again wrong. When I got home, I noticed my steering wheel was weird.
So taking the car back tomorrow to get this fixed! Still props to the dealer for giving me a brand new steering wheel..

99 Buick, 170xxx miles. Pulled to the right, so much so that I had to steer to the left to go straight. After getting a 4 wheel alignment, it drives straight and I can't feel it pull while holding the wheel, but if you let go of the wheel it veers to the right. What I should check? Is is possible the tires are causing this?
