I am having trouble filling up my car it keeps stopping every 5-10 secs knowing my car is not full. Whats going on? Also my my gas needle keeps saying im at 3/4 full all the time when i pump gas it goes to full, but never goes to half tank it just stays at 3/4.
View 10 RepliesWhen I fuel up at fuel throttle the nozzle pops every time at every direction i give the nozzle. I can get it to fill at half speed but sometimes fuel is coming out of the breather tube and circulating back into the filler neck. I took the right rear fender liner out and checked for pinched lines but everything seemed ok.
View 20 RepliesHaving trouble filling car up with gas? Here for the past 2 months its been gradually getting worse. I try to fill the tank full of gas and the nozzle keeps clicking acting like its full. At first it would only click once during the fill up. Now its 5 or 6 times during the fill up.
View 21 RepliesWhen filling up with gas, I can only get a couple gallons put in the tank before the nozzle kicks off from the pump. As I get closer to filling up the tank it kicks off more frequently. The way I equalize the gas tank while filling up so that I can add more gas is to move the gasoline nozzle in and out a couple times and i can see a little bit of gas squirt out while the pressure inside is adjusting.
I don't think anyone was able to put something into my tank to plug it up. There is a little hole directly under where the gas cap screws onto that has a rubber opening, I'm wondering if maybe some dirt got into that and plugged it assuming that hole has something to do with making sure the pressure equalizes, but I don't know.
Having trouble filling gas tank, the pump nozzle keeps cutting off. Have to fill by dribbling the fuel in until filled. What the problem might be?
View 5 RepliesI was filling up my tank, as I was running in fumes a few days ago (just 14 miles before death as per trip computer) and to my surprise, when I filled my tank, it only went roughly up to 16 gallons (15.9xx to be precise) before the nozzle kept shutting off. Was the nozzle defective (or was I in a rush for not waiting until the vapors leave the tank?) or the 18.5 gallon tank has a ~2.5 gallon reserve that even the instrument gauge doesn't account for, as it was all the way in the E with the yellow gas pump icon on?

View 3 RepliesHave issues filling the santa fe? when I start filling, if i press the nozzle fully, it keeps clicking off on me. Even if I try to half press it, it still clicks off periodically. It's a real PITA, especially in the winter. 2013 Sport.
View 12 RepliesOne of the nozzles on the back of my intake manifold broke off. I don't know how to better explain it. The ones the back of the manifold closest to the firewall there are several hoses that hook to the manifold. The second one from the left broke.
View 7 RepliesI have the MK5 wiper arm on my hatch. Has worked flawlessly for years. Recently though the spray nozzle doesn't point up anymore. It moves (partially) along with the wiper arm and the juice isn't going where it needs to. Namely straight up!

View 23 RepliesMy CEL came on today, gas level was a little under a quarter tank.
Took it to Advanced on the way home to have them scan it quick, and it threw a fuel pressure regulator code. I stopped in the gas station on the way home and filled it up, and the CEL was gone and hasn't been on since. I'm thinking HPFP, but maybe not? Could it be injectors?
I'm not topping off or overfilling, I pull the nozzle out once the I get the 1st click/cut off whatever from gas pump nozzle once the tank is full and don't put in any extra. It doesn't do this right away (Power loss)... waits until I shut the car off for the day (after a fuel refill) and then the next day I'm driving along and for 20-30 minutes I get random complete loss of power. I don't think it's an ignition issue because it only happens when I fill the tank, but it sure feels like it. It's almost like that bad coil pack feeling. I don't know how else to explain it, just stops accelerating/cruising for a half of a second maybe once every minute or two for about 30 minutes, then it never happens again until i fill the tank.
View 9 RepliesI only see this issue after I've been driving a while and I've just topped off. I don't always use the same octane, (I'll use higher octane on long drives) so I may be mixing octanes on these occurrences. But I will have a problem getting the car turned over after filling up. I hold the starter on and pump the gas to get it started (maybe 5-10 seconds).

I know the issue of slow filling of the gas tank has been discussed extensively, but I haven't seen it discussed in the context of a cold car only.
Briefly, I have a 2010 VW Golf and if it has not been running for ~10-15 minutes, the gas pump clicks off as if it is full within 0.2-0.3 gallons. It doesn't even go into the tank and just spills out everywhere. Even in hot weather, if the car hasn't been running for a while (eg. overnight or all day at work), it needs 10-15 minutes of the engine running and then it will fill up all the way without problems. It's not an issue of the gas pump because I will just leave the car running at the gas station and 10 minutes later, I can fill up without a problem.
It's still under warranty but the dealer won't do anything because they can't reproduce it (too many red lights between the dealer and the gas station so the car is warmed up by they time they fill up gas). I haven't seen any issues online of slow fill being dependent on the car temperature.
Any specific things to ask them to check out that they could detect is damaged without being able to reproduce the problem?
2004 Jetta 2.0, just purchased the car and my first VW. Filled up for the first time last week after purchasing and when it was full (gas pumped kicked off) a small amount of gas spilled out from under the car. Best I can tell from above the passenger rear wheel area. Under a gallon but just enough to make a small puddle. Nothing came out of fill cap or near the nozzle. 2nd fill up tonight and it did it again. I was careful to fill it slowly and went to a different gas station.
View 5 RepliesI'm a little paranoid about letting the pump auto shut-off on its own when filling up. Every pump I've been too have a long spring and the nozzle doesn't go very far in, not like the regular gas pumps. So I stop it manually when I think it gets close to being full. Do you all just let it auto stop or stop it manually?
View 6 RepliesI have driven my brand new 2015 GTI SE manual almost 5 months and have odometer reading 1800 miles. I am pleased with the performance and handling of the car, however experiencing the following issue---- after filling my tank with gas, I have noticed that my car "bucks" for about 5-10 seconds after driving down the road from the gas station. I have also had this "bucking" problem 2 days after fill-up. At first, I thought it was bad gas, but I used 4 different gas stations with the same results. Since the problem is intermittent, I have tried to just tolerate it, and to see if it would go away as the car gets broken in. However, this problem has continued since my first fill-up. The VW dealer service advisor says they can run my car's computer to look for fault codes, but he does know of any tech bulletins on this problem.
View 24 RepliesI just bought a 2011 GTI in Steel Gray Metallic. The first thing I did was remove the front license plate holder.
Doing that revealed 3 large holes (about 8mm), and 2 small screw holes. I'd like to repair this myself or have a shop do it.
Is there a relatively easy way to fix this myself (other than putting the holder back on)?
I accidentally scraped the bugger off with my ice scraper a couple of years ago. I was actually lucky enough to find it once all of the snow melted, and was able to just pop it back in. However, of course, that is all cosmetic, and is no longer functional. I would like to regain this functionality, but can't seem to find a way to access the nozzle from the under side of the hatch. It's an '07.
View 4 RepliesHow to replace the windshield washer nozzle? If it makes a difference it's the driver side one. It's clogged and I'd like to try and soak it in some stuff to dissolve the clog and/or replace it myself. The dealer was going to charge me ~$150 to do this and trying to see if I can do it myself.
