This morning I started my car and all was well, all gauges working. Drove 2 miles and stopped to get gas. Put some gas in my car and started it back up. My gas gauge never went up. Stayed slammed down to the E. All my other gauges were working normally except the gas. My gas light was not on saying I was on E, and I don't have a CEL.
View 5 Replies out of nowhere the right side of my cluster stopped working. The speedometer is completely dead and when ever i go around a cornor my gas guage drops to 0 and beeps. I haven't changed anything with the car and the only thing i e messed with recently was the valve cover.
Is there any wires close to the valve cover that could cause the cluster to short only on the right side?
Yesterday (3/28/12) my Radio Data System (RDS) feed suddenly stopped working on one of the radio stations I listen to on my car radio. Until it stopped, it identified the title and artist of the song I was listening to as well as the station. It still worked on other radio stations, and it worked on other radio stations this morning (3/29/12). Then the RDS feed suddenly stopped working on every station, and now no RDS information appears on my car radio screen at all. What could have possibly happened?

View 3 RepliesOur 2015 Prius 4 with 8,900 miles just suddenly stopped chirping and turning the lights off upon locking. The courtesy lights also no longer work (the lights worked last night as I approached the car but not tonight. The locking chirp/beep worked 3 hours ago but not now. Also headlights no longer go out after double clicking lock on either of the 2 fob.)

View 1 RepliesI borrowed a friend's small Toyota truck for a few days of easy chores, and made a point to check the fuel at the beginning: the gauge showed 3/4 full. Four days and only 25 miles later, when I got in to return it, I noticed the fuel gauge was not working, I'm certain there's no fuel leak, I would have noticed that: the truck had been parked on my property the entire time, driven only a few hundred feet from one spot to another moving firewood around, so I would have smelled the gas if there was a leak.
When I added a couple gallons of fuel, the gauge didn't budge. Once on the road, I realized that the engine temperature gauge was also dead - no change on the gauge after 10 miles. So I have two non-functioning gauges which failed on my watch. This may not be directly my fault, but as my friend is kind enough to lend the truck whenever I need it, my contribution is to provide maintenance.
Is there anything in common between the two gauges which would explain the synchronized failure? Or is this total coincidence? This one is outside my experience, so don't know where to start. It's a 4 cylinder, 5 speed manual, base model truck, about 150k, generally runs just fine. There are no other gauges, and I don't recall what warning lights there might be, but I didn't see any after I realized there was a problem. Would the whole instrument cluster die at once, or could this be something like a bad ground for the cluster? I don't mind investing effort into tracking down and solving a problem, but if it needs a new cluster, that will cost more than I'd like to contribute, yet the problem occurred while I was using the truck (gently). My total use of this truck for all the times I've borrowed it is certainly less than 300 miles, so I'm reluctant to fund the entire repair if this is something that just comes with age.
My Prius C got a faulty fuel gauge and suddenly lost power in the middle of the road. Very dangerous situation.

View 7 RepliesI've had my car since April and it's worked great. Just recently, within the past few days, it's stopped displaying artist info when the iPod is connected via USB. Sometimes it will say "reading media" and other times it will display "no artist, not title" and give an incorrect track number such as 1/50. I've tried switching between apple iPod cords and no change. I really enjoy listening to my iPod for my drive to work (35+mi).
View 12 RepliesI have the base model GLS, but I put fogs in and hard wired them to the battery. They've been on for about 2 years now, and yesterday I went to turn my switch on under my dash and they didn't work. Fuse is fine, wires are fine, and the bulbs look fine. I'm still thinking its the bulbs though because the other day I put my header back on and I think the bulbs hit floor and kinda bent from the contact, so I'm thinking that might be it.

Checked the fuses, car alarm arms fine (so no hood up problem), and back wiper works. A call to VW says that my car isn't included in the wiper recall. So, I figured I would check here before taking the car to the shop.
View 1 RepliesI was on my way home from work when my speakers suddenly stopped working. I tried changing stations and switching to CDs, but sound still refused to play. My head unit works perfectly fine. Every 5 minutes or so if the radio is left on, sound will come from the speakers on the right side of the car, but only for roughly 5 seconds before the sound disappears again. When this happens, the volume knob does not work and the sound cannot be turned down.
I have checked all three fuse boxes and nothing seems to be wrong. I have also checked behind the head unit and there are no problems as far as wiring is concerned. Is it possible that my amp just needs replaced, or is there something else that could have gone wrong?
My cruise control all of a sudden stopped working today.
View 7 RepliesSo the A/C on my wife's 2013 Tiguan stopped working suddenly this past Thursday, just our luck this weekend was the start of a 95+ degree week. Took it to the dealership today for a diagnostic and they came back saying that the line between the condenser and compressor has a leak and needs to be replaced. They're estimating about $690 including tax for the job, this includes the AC evac and refill.

He has replaced the pads, rotors, calipers and bled the system but when you push the brake pedal it goes to the floor. the mechanic where is works is stumped - been like this for three days and they can't figure out what the problem is.
View 6 RepliesNever had any issues with it before and was working fine on a trip a couple of weeks ago. On the way home I had it on, we stopped to get some food, and then when we started up again cruise control wouldn't turn on at all. I tried turning on and then setting, but nothing happened so I don't think it's the light. Checked the fuse and it looks fine (no noticeable distortion or break to the wire anyway) and brake lights all work.
View 8 RepliesI had a new condenser put in last summer and the aircon has worked fine since then. Hot weather last week, aircon worked for a few days, then suddenly not working any more. The ac magnetic clutch is kicking in, the fuses all seem ok, I removed the low and high pressure caps and there seems to be a bit of freon fizzing on the valve after I removed the caps so I assume pressure is ok (don't have gauges -maybe Ill buy on ebay). Is there a low pressure switch that I can bypass to see if that makes it work?? or something else I can do? I assume if the clutch is kicking in and there is no squealing, that the compressor is probably ok?
View 6 RepliesMy 2007 Honda Civic LX car horn suddenly stopped working after I had just used the horn a few minutes earlier. It does not work from the steering wheel and it does not work from the remote when I lock the car. The fuse seems to be OK (the horn seems to be on the same circuit as the brake lights and those are working).
I believe I can hear the relay under the dashboard clicking when I try to use the horn so I suspect that the horns are actually broken. But I was wondering how many horns the 2007 Honda Civic LX has? I have been told different things by different car mechanic/dealers. One said that it has only 1 horn and the other says it has two (one "high" and one "low"). What is correct?
If it has two horns I would be less inclined to think that both horns stopped working at the exact same time so it might just be a bad wiring or something What is reasonable to pay for repairing the horn at a mechanic?
My brother in law is on a road trip and his radio suddenly stopped working. The radio panel displayed "No Radio." He stopped for gas, turned the car off and the radio was working again when he restarted the car. Is this normal or could he have a more serious electrical or computer problem
