At only 51,200 miles, it looks like my fuel pump is starting to go bad. Making way much more "noise" than usual.Guess this is what happens when you drive around with the gas tank on "E" half the time. $262 at 1st VW Parts.

View 2 RepliesWas driving normal and my 2004 r32 died. It felt just like it ran out of gas. Fuel pump was not making any noise. I replaced fuel pump relay and now i can here the fuel pump making noise. Pulled the fuel pump line off and fuel is coming out the line. So now i checked for spark and have none. I have 12 volts at the coils. I ohmed out the crank sensor and have .777 k ohms. I also checked codes with generic snap-on scanner and found no codes.

View 10 RepliesI recently bought a 94 Ford Ranger XL 2.3L. This is a Mazda engine built for Ford. There was a slight ticking noise from the engine. Two months later it has became worse and louder. I bought a mechanic stethoscope and found the noise was coming from two or more of the fuel injectors. New plugs and wires, fuel filter, air filter was done when I bought it. Cleaner has been added to the gas a few times now. I am about to replace the belts and hoses, Bosch platinum plugs and fuel injector O-Rings. I just don't know if it will be enough.

View 6 RepliesWell, I last summer my fuel filter/ pump started squealing, and making vibrating noise, replaced the fuel filter changed the noise slightly, some times it would go away, sometimes the line going to the filter under the hood would vibrate, couple weeks ago truck warning light came on- "low fuel pressure warning" came on, hum... went out, came on a couple days later, then finally put me into limp mode, luckly only 1/2 mile from home... checked filter on frame/ tightness, it was tight, the pump on the filter housing was very noisey still, well, I figured 200 dollars cheaper than taking to ford....
I waited and pump arrived 3 days later, replaced it and low pressure warning still on, but pump was very quiet, and when I restarted low pressure warning and reduced power came on in driveway, hum.... I thought code was still in computer, I disconnected battery and turned headlights on to try and kill the code, started it and now the engine light came on, nothing else, and truck ran fine....hum.... went to autozone, and they pulled the code, low fuel rail pressure, p0087, guy said to drive and code should go off, truck runs fine. Drove truck a couple days and engine light went off, Truck runs great.......All is good.
I'm getting a loud gurgling type pump noise when removing the fuel cap. It is really something I have never heard before on any vehicle. It's not a quick hissing noise. It is a constant motor type noise coming from the fuel filler. I tried it again today because the dealer was there, but since I have a 1/2 tank of gas it did not happen.
Each time I have needed to fuel up, I've heard it. So I suspect this noise occurs when the tank is low...within 3-4 gallons left.
I just bought my first .:R32. Having a few minor issues:
1. When I open the door in the morning, the fuel pump primes the system and makes a high pitched sound (kind of like RFI). It's there when I have the car on also. So do you think I should buy a new pump and take it with me just in case?
2. This was happening before I bought the car. When I first move either forwards or backwards there is a clicking sound coming from the right front of the car. After I get moving, it goes away.
3. Just replaced the front right coilover assembly and there is a clunking noise coming from the strut (I think). What it could be? Maybe strut top bushing? Or ball joint making weird noises?
Every time the car is parked slightly elevated or a little cold when i open the door to get in, i hear this crazy whine noise come from the back, it keeps going even after i have started it.

View 12 RepliesMy power steering pump was making a loud whining sound. No problem, changed the pump. Now after the truck is started I will have no power steering or brake assist, give the truck a little gas and you can hear the power steering pump "start". I have tried every way to get the air out, or is that not the problem. I even lifted the front of the truck off the ground with a forklift and with the truck off turned the wheel about six times stop to stop. Fluid level looks good and has since adding after the change.
View 4 RepliesThis van has had a couple of fuel pumps, no surprise there, and i need to look through my paperwork and find out how many miles the current one has on it, but it has the STRANGEST habit I've ever had on any vehicle. Starts fine, runs fine, no fuel pump noise when van is running, and when you turn it off, the fuel pump creeks on and off for several minutes.
I mean a strange creaking noise almost like a shorted electrical device or a vehicle's brakes when you park it on a hill and the breaks creak as it settles into place. I'm probably doing a lousy job of describing this but i don't know how else to describe it!
ALSO, if you lay under the van and wait til it stops creaking, you can tap the bottom of the tank and it will creak for a few more seconds. You can tap repeatedly and make it creak more. Is it about to explode? Can i trust it on a road trip?
R's at the dealer today for a faulty fuel float sensor, and they just called to let me know my vehicle has the wrong fuel pump in it. Seems mine has the pump for the Golf/Rabbit with the 4 cylinder engine and they need to keep the car until the part is in.
View 16 RepliesI recently had my fuel pump replaced in my 2005 GTI ... twice. Both times, the fuel gauge no longer shows a full tank, and doesn't show empty tank correctly. Is there some way to reset the gauge? Is the pump somehow tied to the gauge, or did the mechanics mess the float up when they changed the pump? Sadly I had it repaired somewhere other then the dealer.

View 3 RepliesI removed the long plastic cover under the right side of the car to expose the air pump. Switched the car on and looked for any obvious signs where the noise came from. Mine showed a missing nut and some play in the bushes. Some strategically placed cable ties, foam and a new nut and the air pump is silent again. Now who said these cars need deep pockets to maintain?

View 19 RepliesMy car is a 2002 Accent. So last weekend I replaced my timing belt and my 3 other belts. Before I did this the belts were not squeaking and I was not having any issues with my power steering. I started my car up and the power steering pump was making lots of noise, the power steering reservoir was still full. I was told it's probably the power steering pump and that I would need a new one. So I got a new one, put it on and still the same thing. I looked online and saw that it may be an air bubble in the line so I removed the cap on the reservoir and, with the car turned off and the front wheels off the ground, cranked the wheels lock to lock about 20 times. I started the car and it still makes noise. This morning the power steering felt like it was lagging as I was backing out of my driveway and the squeaking happens when I am idling and gets louder and worse up to about 2000 rpm then stops, which it has been doing since I replaced the belts. I am not sure what else to do, did I mess up the new pump by driving and not bleeding the air out?
View 2 RepliesI finally have a first 'major' problem with my Camry 2004 V6 XLE right at 75K ish.
The last two days I've been hearing my power steering pumping making that familiar 'whirrrrr' noise. I thought it was just the pump going out because it has always made some noise when it was cold. Lo and behold, I checked my fluid today and found it was completely dry. I knew it wasn't a good thing because when fluids are dry, they must go someplace. Either way, I got a gal of Dextron ATF in the trunk now.
I filled it up and all was good, so I started to look around for obvious leaks. I did find a hose going to a metal line that DID seem to be dripping, but I wanted to see if maybe others had the same problem and found it was to be a different thing leaking/running down or if this is a common issue.
Not sure if the hose is a dealer only thing. It does look like it's leaking from the end. I could get one of those screw tightening clamps to see if the clamps isn't putting enough 'squeeze' on it. I couldn't see a tear on the hole, but I'm assuming it's a high pressure hole, so it won't leak unless I'm doing a lock to lock turn.
I have a lexus rx 330. Pump started making noise and low on fluid. We replaced all the belts and new pump. After installing new pump it was leaking from fill cup cap when driving also making a lot of noise on cold start. Mechanic said new pump was bad so we put in another one. Car ran fine as soon as we put it in and bleed good. Following morning again a lot of noise on cold start and noise goes away about 10 minutes but again small amount of fluid leaking from cap on fill cup. I replaced the rubber ring on cap to get a tight seal but again nothing.
