I threw a code and I have it but I am unsure what to do.
The code is P0353
"Ignition Coil C Primary/Secondary Circuit"
I saw that this might be the coil, the wiring or the ground? I had my coils go on my 1.8t Jetta and that was pretty distinct as the car ran like crap.
The car seems to run fine, I have had the code for 2 days. It went off this morning and it came on again this afternoon.
My cousin's B5 wagon automatic 1.8T ('00) was shaking and vibrating intermittently. I took it down to Autozone and borrowed an OBD2 scanner. This is what it said (only one code, and the CL was off, although it comes on intermittently):
P0741 - Torque Converter Performance or Stuck Off
My daughters 2000 explorer has a PO172 code, tune it up,Replaced filters plugs & wires and rear O2 sensors that were damaged. Has 65 psi on fuel rail. Can not find any vacuum leaks. Not sure maybe injectors are dirty.
Also I replaced MAF, now it idles, But it's a rough Idle,Gets worse in gear. She say's on cold start up she can smell a whiff of gas ..
I have a 2006 prius whose check engine light just came on 1 hour ago. I had it diagnosed and it is giving me the p1121 code, or the coolant flow control valve. I checked the coolant level and it was very low. I added fluid, but the CEL is still on. I have to make an 11 hour trip tomorrow.
View 19 RepliesI took my 2006 in for its 50,000 mile oil change today, and I was told I had the following codes related to the transmission and the park/neutral switch:
P0852 (System: Hybrid Control; shown as "hist," presumably historical)
C2315 (System: Transmission Control; shown as "curr," presumably current)
My car is running fine, and none of the dashboard lights have indicated any problem.
So I bought a used 2005 Prius back in August it had 88,000 miles on it and was out of warranty. But I had a full inspection on it and the car was in great shape. Well, after a few months of driving, I got the P0420 error. I took it into my mechanic who cleared the code and told me to call him if it came back on. It came back on, then I cleared it myself, and it came back on again. So it was confirmed that I had a bad catalytic converter.

Pulled into my driveway one night and a get a AFS failure.
Lights work, everything functions correctly, except my headlights don't level. I've seen some threads refer to it as the "dance".
I have the light out warning on the dash and every time i start my car it says "AFS FAILURE" or something across those lines.
I replaced my headlight level sensor and made sure the level sensor is pointing the correct way (toward the driver side) and that didn't fix it.
My car is lowered, but this issue didn't happen until recently. I do also have Euro Headlights, these were installed months ago. Way before this issue came up aswell.
I have a 2005 Jetta 2.0 BEV GLS. I got a code P0302 for misfire on cylinder 2. I am pretty sure it's the Ignition coil. I live in Canada and my autoparts store only has BWD brand. I have read this is a crappy brand.
View 1 RepliesI have a 2009 Yaris and it started acting like it was stalling out. It won't accelerate. It bogs down. Check engine light is on and when tested got a code of P0353. This means the third coil is bad. I did the check but it seemed to be ok.
View 2 RepliesAfter taking my 2009 Corolla S to the dealer on 4/07 for an oil change, about 4 or 5 days later the check engine light, the traction control light, and the VSC light come on (VSC off blinks). The first day it came on, I took it to autozone to look the code up and they said it was P0353 (issue with ignition coil c I think). I immediately afterwards drove to the dealer to see what they would say. But after parking in their garage speaking with the greeters, they said the light wasnt on, and asked if I wanted to wait the 2 hours to see a tech. So I took it home.
The code came back about 3 days later, and this time there was a slight stall/jolt for about 4 or 5 seconds. This occured on startup and not during driving. After the 4 or 5 seconds of the mild jolting it felt like it was running smooth. I took it home and after leaving it off for about 20 minutes, the light went out again. A couple days later it came back and stayed on over night and was still present when I started it the next day. It went off again later that day.
My question is what could be causing this that might be a simple fix. Do toyota techs check anything with the spark plugs during normal Oil Changes? I know they checked my brakes but Im not a car guy and am not really sure all that they do. Could it be a loose spark plug? Code P0353 coming up sporadically after dealer Oil change. Is there any steps they normally do during the oil change that could be causing this, like leaving a spark plug loose after checking them or something? Would the coil / wiring harness fall under an engine warranty?
So of course it has to happen 3 weeks after my warranty expires. My CEL comes on and I have it read and the result is P0440. I find out that my wife has a habit of topping off the gas tank and so I am thinking that she has probably ruined the charcoal canister. It is something easy to replace?
I have an 06 limited edition... Yes, she will not be topping off any gas tank anymore.
I am getting a CEL and the error code is p2187 engine too lean at idle. I have been reading around to try and find the issue, some seem to say PCV could be the issue. I have also read a test would be try and remove the oil cap while car is idling. I did this test and the oil cap was difficult to remove and the idle got really rough once removed.
View 2 RepliesMy r is throwing a p0601 sum error. I clear, it comes right back. I know the previous owner has it chipped at a garage that wasn't linked to any brand. I was planning on putting an apr/giac tune over it but now I can't (no money). I know this might mean I need a new ecu. Right now I plan on going to vw on monday and having them reflash the ecu bringing it back to stock...if it returns then i guess i need a new ecu... This sound right?

View 6 RepliesYesterday i took 300 miles trip to VA and my engine light when on. turn out it was p0480 code. I had check online and find out it was a cooling fan malfunction. I want to know any1 else have the same problem? also is this DIY problem? or should i bring it to the stealership?

I replaced new o2 sensor with oem new one.post cat on driver side.
I have erased dtc and drove 15 miles dtc came back again.
Now i have replaced catalysator on driver side and same thing again.
Getting one of those CEL error codes P000A Powertrain on my R32. I used my cheap OBDII bluethooth readers.
Taking it to local shop tomorrow, but they want $109 to scan the car with there VW OBDII scanner.
Why can that scanning be a free charge

Soild CEL, autozone pulled a P2015 code, but couldnt find it for VW in their system, just hyundai, toyota, dodge, and kia codes came up.
Looked around and everywhere says it's the notorious MKVI IM replacement issue.. Im under PT warranty until Nov. '15 so im good there.
Heres the catch.. sometimes it goes off without any changes to the vehicle. First thing (before the obd2 reader from autozone) i checked was my gas cap, that will cause a CEL sometimes, next time I started the car the CEL was off. the next day, without touching the gas cap since, the CEL was on again, today its off
car idles fine, drives fine, MPG are fine, pulls fine, stops fine, steers fine, everything works in the car. year: 2011
So finally got past the smog cert issue and a bad map sensor in the intercooler. However, during the smog test, I was informed I am getting low air pressure in the intake! What causes this? A bad MAF? a leak? I have replaced the EGR, and all rubber that connects hard pipes. The only piece not changed out during the rebuild is the plastic flex line from the airfilter box to the turbo intake.
View 2 RepliesI just had an OBD code pulled on my 2010 Camry and it turns out that my Heated O2 sensor for Bank 1 Sensor 2 is failing. I'd rather do this myself if I can but I can't figure out where this thing is. This is something I can access myself and swap out? Or does this need to be fixed by a mechanic?
