Engine is frozen. Not moving stuck. Spark plugs were full of water on each one of the 6. At least the insurance company covers it. Do you think it would be good to do 3.6 swap or is it too much hassle?
View 2 RepliesOvernight here, it dropped into the single digits. My GTI VI's windows were frozen shut with ice. I attempted to roll down the windows a couple times with the button, in addition to some light pounding with my fist and they wouldn't budge. I'd like to know if there can be damage from attempting to roll down frozen windows with the automatic control and if so, what type of damage.
View 8 RepliesI have a 2011 GTI and lately I've been running into an issue with my steering wheel buttons and the RNS-315.
Issue #1: When I use the left button to toggle left/right between my radio presets (does it on both FM and Sirius), if I hit "right" it will go left. If I hit "left" it goes right...but only 3 times. On the fourth time it will jump to some random station. This happens all the time.
Issue #2: When using MDI connected to an ipod, the left button lets me switch through the songs just fine. but every once in a while (for example it has only happened once this month) it will freeze up and the left buttons will no longer function (e.g. let me toggle between songs). When this happens I switch to radio and the same deal, buttons are frozen. turning the radio off and back on again lets me switch once, then it's frozen again. If I turn the car off and on, it's back to normal.
Radio panel is frozen after engine start. Radio, GPS, Internet etc...do not work. This problem was there since day 1 of the purchase. Toyota case manager will call and if they cannot fix that the I'll file a lemon law claim. Took it to two dealers and they said Toyota cannot send them the radio because they do not make them and there is no date. The second dealer said part will be in on June 5 and on June 5 they said part will be in on Aug 15. The service manager was kind of embarrassed when he told me that.
View 5 RepliesI have a 2006 Pontiac Vibe with an AC Compressor that my be frozen. My car was sitting for 6 months not be used. Before the AC worked great. When i put the ac on a few days ago, my engine died. I turned the ac off and started the car up again, and no problem. I pressed AC button and car slowly died. Does my ac pump need more oil, or a new ac compressor?

View 4 RepliesWent out to the car today - and the wipers were in the 1/2 way position. I do not remember having the wipers on the last time I drove. So the upshot is - they now do not work at all. They are frozen in place. They "twitch" a bit when I adjust the stalk - but they do not go to the normal "resting" position.
View 3 RepliesThis past week there was 3 days where it didn't get above freezing. For some of you this is normal but this hardly never happens. It gets below freezing, but doesn't stay there for an extended period of time. Anyhow, my doors where frozen shut and I kept pulling and pulling and I couldn't get the door open. It felt like I almost pulled the door handle out of the car. I was going to pour hot water on the door, but my mom told me that it would crack the window or something like that.
The way I got it open was I kept pulling and pushing and pulling and pushing. I pulled up on the door and I guess it broke the ice. This way took entirely too long.
Having A/C completely frozen? Driving back from Pittsburgh with the A/C defrost on, noticed that there was no air flow. This happened about 2 hours into the ride. After pulling over at a rest area and popping the hood, all of the A/C lines were frozen, and I assume the heat exchanger was also.
Turned the A/C off and continued to drive and it slowly defrosted enough to allow air to flow through the vents again.
So, this is the second winter in a row that my wipers refuse to work after getting frozen. It seems as though when they freeze up, if the motor can't wipe, even after I break them free and clear the ice, they won't work. Right now we are in a greater than one week cold front that is going to be well below freezing, and I don't have a garage to use. How can I re-set the system so it will try to wipe again? I think it is because the right wiper has not gone all the way down it's stroke, but it won't even try now.

View 1 RepliesYesterday morning, my sweetie went out to go to work, and the Prius wouldn't start, (or anything else). Jump starting remedied that, but I decided that the 12v battery was probably toast ( I had problems with it last winter). I bought a new battery, and then endeavored to put it in. The process was a pain (particularly since I was doing it outside in blowing snow), but I finally got the battery all exposed, only to discover that the battery was frozen into 1.5" of ice (of some sort). Three hours of hair dryer later, I had extracted the battery and all the ice, and installed the new battery. What a pain.
View 1 RepliesNo problems and then at 82000 with no warning, the clutch froze and wouldn't go into gear. I coasted into the dealer and learned, after analysis, that one spring had broken. The clutch still had 40% on it, but one spring had snapped. I saw it. They replaced with a Honda Clutch disk with new pilot bushing, throw-out bearing, rear main seal, pressure plate, and manual transmission fluid. This description is taken from the invoice.
So, my question is, could my driving have caused this? A friend, the other day, said I am waiting too long to shift to 2nd and it could cause the problem, he thought. I usual shift around 3000, but now am shifting from 1st to 2nd at 15mph per manual. I thought the only problem with delaying shifting was poor gas mileage, as long as I didn't go into red, which I don't. I want to prolong the life of this new clutch and want to make sure I am treating it gently.
Last week I tried to use my wipers and it seemed like they were stuck, I turned them off, it wasn't that bad but since then I tried to use them even when it was a lot warmer and could not have been frozen and they don't move at all now. What steps should I take to check all the ins and outs?
View 1 RepliesOk, I turned the A/C on High 65 degrees and drove about 2 miles home with four people in the car. When I turned the car off and got out I heard hissing and what can only be described as .. Well the old metal / Aluminum ice trays that we used to make ice cubes in the freazer? My kids said it sounded like the car was singing or playing music? I opened the hood but did not see any thing frozen. It took about 5 minutes to slowly fade out and stop making noise.
View 3 RepliesI garage, but on two occasions, once left out overnight, other at the airport for a week, the side windows were frozen shut. After the Treg warmed up, they would open, but seemed to be frozen at the bottom weatherstrip. Are others having this problem? I love this truck !
View 4 RepliesSo this morning, it was -5 degrees outside. I put the key in the ignition, but I could not turn it forward at all, it was like it was frozen. So I took a lighter, heated up my key, and put it in the ignition, let it set for a few seconds, and I was able to turn it over. I have had to this every winter so far, but it only happens when it is really cold out. The only thing I can think of is moisture in the ignition.
View 3 RepliesI just ran into this the other morning, I needed to get gas and my whole car was frozen over. No snow, just a thin layer frost.. But enough to freeze the lock on the gas door.
I was not able to get it open at all.. I hit lock/unlock about 25 times and nothing.. I gave up and took the wifes car.. By the time I got home all was thawed out and the gas door was working just fine..
Went to lower my front end today and after trying for 15 min the nut directly under the spring was frozen. i sprayed it with PB blaster let it sit for like 20 min, kept on spraying it during that time. tried adter that and still did not budge a mm. even tried with a flat head and a hammer trying loosen it. did not work. was wondering if there was any other way i can get it loose?
View 8 RepliesI have a 2002 Chrysler Concorde I bought a little over a year ago. Recently the heater blower has frozen after a night of freezing rain/sleet. This has happened twice. The first time the fan started working again after the temperature got above freezing for a day. A very small amount of heat still comes out of defroster because I can see it having a effect on the foggy window. But the fan will not blow at all. It is currently frozen for the second time. Extreme cold temp don't affect it but freezing rain does. How can I prevent this in the future?
View 9 RepliesJust got back from a roadtrip. The AC problem is back again, it will freeze on high humidity days and won't allow any air to come out. I had this problem before and i thought the Windshield TSB fix this problem too.. I guess not.
Did some search, seems like the only fix is to cycle the ECON and AUTO to allow warmer air to unfreeze the condenser to allow cool air to enter again. Just want to check to see if the dealer actually fixed it? I mentioned this to the dealership last time and all they told me was "can't produce the problem"..
