Golf IV R32 :: Digital Display In The Cluster Gets Really Dark And Hard To Read

The digital display in the cluster, sometimes it works perfectly fine and its clearly legible and bright as day. Most other time however, the lighting or whatever in it gets really dim and the text gets really dark and hard to read. I usually have to cup my hands over the cluster to get it really dark and then i can see what it says. Like i said though, sometimes it could be broad daylight and its really bright and easy to see, but most of the time its not.

Noticed a digital "shadow" to the electronic speedometer display? Below is a picture of what I'm seeing. It's not a viewpoint or reflection that goes away from a different angle. It's like there is an alignment issue or something.. I know the display image is a projection from below, to create a distant focal point. But I see this image shadow.

My wife likes to use the digital speed display on the dash, and someone I made it disappear. Avg. speed is there but real time speed is not. How do I get it back?

I took my son's 2008 Honda Civic Coupe in for an oil change at a local third party shop today. While there, I was persuaded to let the mechanics carry out a fuel injection service. On driving home I noticed that the digital speedometer no longer read correctly. It now reads about 20 mph over. This is particularly noticeable as the vehicle slows down. I saw that the mechanics were having trouble connecting into the fuel system. They were working in an area behind the air filter, and just in front of the instrument cluster. I believe that they may have disturbed a cable or something in that area, which has caused the problem.

I own a 2009 smart car with 256k miles on it (it's used primarily for work) and was having it serviced at a local shop here in Tulsa (not the dealership). I had to leave the car for some minor repairs and the owner of the shop gave me the keys to an R32 he was about to list for sale. Well, I fell in love with the car. I mulled over it for about a month but ultimately I broke down and bought it.
One question I'd like to pose. I notice the gauges are hard to read during the day, particularly the temp and fuel gauges. I'm thinking the gauges are supposed to be backlit during the day, but I can't seem to confirm that anywhere on the internet. Are the gauges supposed to be backlit during the day as they are at night?

I just noticed the other day that part of my instrument cluster is darker than the rest. Everything is nice and bright however my 0-20mpg area isn't as bright as the rest of my cluster.

I tried changing the settings but all I could get done was F to C and the trip number to KPH.
The digital speed display would be real useful here as the cops are sticklers in the city about the speed limit.
Will the VAG cable do it? I'm still trying to dig it up but most of our stuff is still in boxes.

The instrument cluster on my 99 4runner went totally dark recently. All the individual lights still work such as open door, brake, check engine light, etc. My first thought was to replace the 3 lights that lights up the speedometer, tachometer, etc. Bought new lights from dealership and installed. Still dark. I'm not sure if it matters but I took them out and installed the opposite way. Still dark.
One more interesting thing. Still drove it while I was waiting for lights to come in at dealership, they had to order them. Well during that time my tail lights went out. Saw a video that confirmed I blew a fuse. Replaced fuse. That fixed tail lights but instrument cluster still dark. Is there a fuse that would only effect those three lights on the instrument cluster??

I have a 1997 Sedan Deville with a digital dash. Recently while driving the center portion of the dash went completely dark and has not come back on. The left portion that displays the AVG/EST MPG works as does the right side portion that displays the Climate Control temp and the outside temp. Another sympton is that the turnsignals physically work but the interior right and left indicators do not illuminate when the signals are activated. Also when switching from low to high beam the hight beam (blue) indicator does not come on in the center display, nor does the information bar at the bottom of the display. Probably just a coincidence, but this seemed to occur shortly after turing on the windshield wipers. There has been no mechanical or electrical work done on the car recently. I found a 10Amp fuse located in the trunk that the manual identifies as a link to this display, but it checked ok.

I've owned Acura's for 15 years total and now own my first Lexus. Loving it so far. Just bought a used 2013 GS350 luxury package with only 12,000 miles believe it or not. Spectacular condition. Loving it so far after 4 days!
Quick condition, is there a way to permanently display the digital clock somewhere on the nav screen or is the analog clock the only option? Not a big deal, but prefer digital clocks.

The small LCD display (Int temp, fan speed, etc.) in my Prius IV with Nav Package is very dark, read "unreadable" when sunlight is prominent in the car. This is so even with the panel rheostat turned all the way up to bright. Is this a faulty display or is there any work around if not?

My 2003 Lexus GX 470 radio will not turn off, its display is dark, the cd player will not eject and the radio channels do not change. The only way to turn down the sound is on the wheel.

I have an issue with my 2008 f250 6.4 where the gauge cluster is dark and truck won't crank. The only light on the dash is the airbag light. I have tried reprogamming with my Spartan tuner, checked fuses, removed aftermarket alarm, charged batteries. I scanned and got two codes. P1260 theft detected and a u code no comm with cluster.

Occasionally, right after I start the car, the HDD display screen will be dark for a minute or two, and then display the map. I can go to the other screens, like Audio or the setup screens, but the map and the backup camera screens are dark. The still-functional buttons are responsive as usual (no delays/hangs). When the map finally "wakes up", it behaves normally. I don't have to do anything other than wait for it to wake up. It does this about 10% of the time. I have tried to correlate this to something, but it seems totally random.
