-SB stage 3 feramic clutch with ss flywheel
-Motul trans fluid
What exactly is making this sound? What do I do to fix this because its driving me insane. Noise is constant with clutch out. Goes away when pushed in. Rattle when at low rpm. This clip is me lightly revving the engine. This is something clutch/flywheel related.
'02 V6 30v with 73k.. engine noise sounds like rattle consistent with idle sounds like its coming from rear section of motor. i did search came up with a few probabilities but no resolutions just wondering if possible it could be oil pump because if i add oil then start up the noise disappears for a few mins then comes back, a few guys mentioned it could be camshaft tensioner.

View 5 RepliesJust noticed this morning that when I move slowly there is a noise consistent with the cars movement in the rear right side of the car. What could be causing this back there? Almost sound like if the car was moving while the brake was engaged.

The noise is consistent with the wheel speed and I can heard it clearly when I am next to barrier or a truck or something the sound will pounce off it. I drop the car off, later they told me the drive shaft is vibrating a lot and it might go.
View 8 RepliesSeems like there is a constant wind noise coming from the driver's side door on my 4-door GTI. Best way I can describe it is as if the window is cracked a tiny bit, but not that loud. Seems the car isn't totally quiet over 30mph. The door seals and everything look fine.
View 11 RepliesI have had a FX400 installed for about 4 months with a solid flyweel(stock weight). Question is at idle the clutch will rattle? When the Clutch pedal is pushed in the noise is gone. When you engage 1st and accelerate through 1st and 2nd it will rattle till you get into higher RPM's. In higher gears the noise is not present or at least unable to be heard. Is this normal operation for an aftermarket clutch and flywheel? This is not the normal chatter while slipping the clutch slightly to get the car moving Which is only present if you accidentally slip too much. Otherwise there is no chatter under normal driving.

I just swapped clutch on the manual transmission of 2.0L 4 cylinder GTI.
Now every time I start the motor, I hear high pitched rattlesnake sound. It starts about 2-3 seconds after the motor starts.
The sound is coming from center of oil pan or downpipe area but can't tell how high on the motor's long block the source of sound is located at.
Check out the following youtube video. You can hear the sound at 9 seconds and it get really audible around 12 - 14 seconds and disappears around 21 seconds. I can hear this sound for the whole duration of motor running. The sound is not coming from the downpipe cover.
Started my car up the other day after sitting overnight at temps around or below 0. Started as I would expect in the cold and I walked away to let it warm up. After about 10 minutes I went back to find the car misfiring very consistently, sounded and felt like one whole cylinder was dead. When I attempted to rev the engine it would not rise above 2k RPM and continued misfiring. I shut the engine off and restarted, this fixed the misfiring however the EPC light and Traction Control light remained. The tire pressure light was also on but this is to be expected due to temps. Also there was an "!" instead of my odometer reading, I am guessing this is because I had previously been using cruise control when I turned the car off the night before. Anyways, after a quick drive all lights went away including low tire pressure but seen issues like this from cold weather??
View 6 RepliesI noticed recently that on my 2007 Camry i4 @ 110k miles, engine rattles pretty noticeably when I have the AC on AND while on reverse. Once I either turn off the AC or shift to D drive the rattle is no more. This noise is pretty consistent.
Not sure if this is a common problem, but could this be a problem with the water pump/alternator?
After tune-up to my 2000 RX300 (105k miles), car came back with clicking noise under dash... took back to repair shop they agreed sounds like morse code, or like rain falling. They examined under hood and said they don't know source, but that the work they did couldn't be causing it. They said could be drive belt and/or pulleys, or clutch on AC, or alternator bearings... that it doesn't look like any major issue. I brought the car in for a tune up and it came out with this annoying noise. Do I keep pushing them to figure it out what the did and correct it? Or do I trust them that additional work/expense needs to be made? What could the noise it be? It appears spread across the whole dash, but under the hood just sounds like a consistent clicking noise near the belts.
View 9 RepliesRecently I switched from Revo software with 440cc injectors to Unitronic with Siemens 630cc injectors. After swapping, the car has developed a hesitation issue. It only happens when driving a consistent speed in one gear, for example going 45 in 5th, the car will feel jumpy and hesitate to accelerate with a seeming loss of power. Replaced spark plugs with new ones and the problem still persists. Problem never happened with old software and injectors.

View 7 RepliesSo I took my R into the dealership to have them look into the rattle/vibration noise that happens when I accelerate. They say that they looked into it and found nothing that was loose and said everything was fine.
When I first got the car I was showing it off to a friend of mine, letting him hear the intoxicating exhaust note, he was impressed, then I rev it and he was like hmmm what was that? Needless to say I was a bit embarrassed.
At this point I don't like getting on the gas in fear that someone will hear this noise and I cringe when I hear it. It's unacceptable for a $30k+ car. The noise does seem to get better once the car is heated up, but that's only after quite a bit of driving and its still there, just not as bad.
I'm taking the car in again tomorrow for something unrelated and I'm going to make sure I give it a few revs so they can hear what I'm hearing.
When I turn my ignition off, I can hear some rattling. Took it to the dealership many times. They hear it but can't pinpoint where it comes from.
Had a VW specialist come in and took a look. Saw the VF motor mounts and said "He hears it too but the mounts could be the cause"
The head mechanic and the service advisor told me if I could figure out the noise they would still fix it under warranty.

View 3 RepliesMy a/c has been slowly but surely going out. When it worked it would blow cold air, but it would slowly decrease the force that it would blow until almost nothing came out at all. Now it wont even turn on. The cabin air filter is new, the lights on the a/c and circulator are both on. I think the compressor is still turning on too. I did notice that occasionally it will make a quick hiss noise, but it happens fast, not a consistent hissing noise.
View 6 RepliesNew to the prius world! I recently purchased a 06 prius with 185k. Gas engine needed to be replaced so I recently replaced it. Had code of engine failed to start. Now got replacement engine in and has p0300 and p0303 and p0304. Weird thing is new plugs. Swapped coils and injectors with same results. To me it sounds like a racket in the transmission. The noise is not consistent at all. Very loud and odd. Also inside the car when I put it in drive or neutral a warning light comes up and says shift to park batteries wont charge while in neutral.

2002 Santa Fe V6 GLS 173K
So I started getting this metallic/harmonic whining sound from my GTI's engine a few weeks ago. It was barely noticeable then, but has now gotten louder and more consistent. The sound occurs once the engine has warmed up and can be reproduced by holding the revs constant anywhere above 2k. The sound does not change in pitch with engine speed. It doesn't matter if the car is parked or moving.
I've attached a video... The sound can heard starting at 00:23 and becomes constant after a few seconds. Its hard to hear at first, but if you listen carefully its definitely there.
I have an appointment with the dealer tomorrow and will update with their findings. In the meantime, any clue as to what this could be? I can't really pinpoint where its coming from, seems loudest near where the oil filter is? By the way I'm 100% stock.
I am a new owner of a 2011 Tomato Red GTI and was wondering if the sound my car makes is normal. Whenever I let off the clutch the car makes a rattling noise and i can feel it with my foot. Is that normal in our cars?
