What are some common mk4 r32 vacuum leaks. And yes I did search. Im checking my car for any leaks that vagcom would potentially not detect.

View 9 RepliesA friend of mine today told me a good way to find vaccum leaks with starter fluid. Lightly spray it over the vacuum lines on an idling engine until the idle speeds up. Where you were spraying when it sped up is where the leak is. Be careful as it is very flammable. [IMG] [URL] .....
View 2 RepliesQuestion. I have never used propane to find vacuum leaks. I always use starter fluid. I understand propane is better but how nuch do you use? Low volume, or a lot of propane. I just don't want to kill myself.
View 14 RepliesI've had a 0401 code on my truck for the last two years. I've replaced the EGR valve and the dpfe sensor a couple of times, with fomoco parts. Ive also cleaned out the egr tube that comes off the exhaust manifold. In this time I also discovered a couple of vacuum leaks and replaced those. I changed the pcv valve, tried running 93 octane gas, and had a mechanic friend run a special smoke through the vacuum lines to find more leaks. Also put a brand new gas cap. I have an obd computer and cleared the code repeatedly but the light always returns.
View 14 RepliesHow and where to check? This probably has been covered a million times.
View 7 RepliesMy parents 2000 Explorer is having issues...It started with check engine light...came back to Oxygen sensors...Replaced all 4....light came back...still a couple of same codes...P1151 and P0153...smoked the intake with Evap Leak Detector...have several small vacuum leaks...little at EGR (No EGR codes)...little at TPS (No TPS Codes)...Little at throttle shafts...and some coming from what looks like underneath throttle body....none of these are as much of a concern as the next thing....NOW the trans will not shift out of 1st...unless you manually shift it from Drive to 2nd...then no other gears...Reverse works fine.....
View 13 RepliesI understand the TSB for this issue relates to 2005 and 2006 model Avalons. what's your best guess in terms of how common the timing cover oil leak problem is on '05s and '06s? 20%? 80%?
View 11 RepliesI've had a 2005 Prius for almost 2 year and 50,000 miles now and had no problems. Recently I decided to do an inverter recall and them some "necessary" maintenance (TB, transaxle fluid, etc). How I have an intermittent CEL, P1112 (Intake air temp sensor) coming on every other day. Before I thought Autozone had another DTC detected (1121 It had something to do with a coolant stacked too high?)
What are the most common check engine light (CEL) or DTC codes and how to deal with them?
'07 Avalon with 169k miles. I replaced all 3 back coils and 6 plugs back in December when I had various misfires, but the most common code was P0301 which is cylinder 1.
Car ran great until last week when I made a hard left and accelerated. CEL started flashing, read code and it's P0301. Every time I accelerate half throttle or more I can set the code off, but then shutting down car and restarting it drives fine, until I go half throttle. Car runs better when cold, and worse when I turn left and accelerate.
As long as I don't mash the gas I can drive for a half hour or so without the strumbling/hesitation. Surely the new coil hasn't failed so soon, I hate to pull the wipers, plenum, etc. and buy another coil just on a chance that might solve the issue. Car is only throwing a P0301 this time, no other codes like before. I've read a clogged cat or sticky exhaust valve could cause a cyl misfire.
I did all the flushing, cap, thermostat, 50/50 antifreeze, etc, fixes but when I floor it going up an on ramp on an 85 degree day it will go into limp mode / fail safe mode. Bottom hose?
View 9 RepliesI recently bought a 2006 screw. When first started ,upon take off in drive, just as you get into the gas it has a vibration for a few seconds. Only does it once just after each start up.
Took it to the dealer they said it was abs motor running a test cycle. They checked another 2006 on the lot and it did the same thing. You can feel it through the accelerator pedal and it really annoys me. Is it common to only 2006 models?
I have found a 3" crack in the steel floor of my F350 2005. It's located at the base of the gearbox tunnel not far from the drivers right foot.
Is this a common structural failure point on the F350 or am I just unlucky?
The vehicle gets abused in the dunes but I would have thought the suspension and drive train would have failed before the floor inside the cabin!
Bought a MkIV for the fiancee 2 weeks ago (04.5 GLI 1.8T Automatic).. Great driving car, needs some minor love (really dirty, burnt out lights, etc)
After the first week, the coolant light came on
Had some G12 handy, topped it off (like 8-10 oz)
All good
2 days later, it came on again, added about the same amount
4 days later, it came on again, added the same amount
1 day later, it came on again, added the same amount
I am adding 50/50 mix, but haven't seen a puddle anywhere, Nothing looks wet, but then again its hard to see around the plastic cover ...
I noticed last week when I leave the house in the morning my car was leaving oil striped down my road. Jacked car up Saturday AFTER RUNNING TO STORE found a little oil on bottom of my car but not nowhere near what I was thinking there would be. Cleaned motor fired up found no leaks at all . However this morning after car had sat 20hrs or so I looked under car before I cranked her up clean.
Got it cranked her up and oil was streaming from the oil cooler. Not on the block side but towards the front of car side of cooler. It did this for a few seconds then stopped. I am gonna order new front and rear orings for oil cooler. I am just stumped why it only happens at a cold start and for a few seconds not consistently.
Replaced my coil packs/sparks, and just got around to changing my N75 valve today. The rough idle issue is gone but now when I go WOT it boosts but goes from 15psi-12-13-12-14-12...etc. I've checked and there are no boost leaks. I do have a CEL saying I need a new bank 1 sensor 1 Oxygen sensor. If it is that, why did this problem arise as soon as I changed the N75 valve and wasn't present earlier?
View 1 RepliesMy 2004 1.8T GTI is having a weird issue. It's had 3 coolant leaks in the past 3 months. Every time I get one leak fixed it goes leak free for a couple weeks, but then a new leak pops up in a new place.
First leak was a cracked coolant bottle. Second was a flange near the bottle on passenger side. The newest leak is on the driver side. Car hasn't ever overheated.
I have noticed recently after couple of rainy days that my driver door and passenger door sills are filled up with water I assumed that there is a leak from underneath the door which comes from in between the door and the wheel. Is it like i have to buy an after market plastic covers to stop this leakage?
View 3 RepliesI've had my R32 for a year, in that time the car has used a quart of coolant in 9K miles. Is this normal? No visible leaks.
View 5 RepliesSo I have an oil leak I can't figure out. 2001 jetta vr6 5spd. The bottom of the car is covered with oil. It appears to be leaking above the transmission. It will consistently drip at idle. Oil sits on top of transmission and then Leaks down over the starter. It doesn't have any coolant leaks. Is there anything anything in that area that could leak oil that bad?
View 11 RepliesI'm going to finally go through all the old rubber cloth shielded vacuum hoses and going to replace them with Samco silicone but not sure if I should use 3 or 4mm hose?
View 10 RepliesLooks like my driver side door leaks at the top when driving with the windshield wipers on. Usually only in a good rain storm will it do this. It isn't pouring in but it's a few drops on my ride home from work today. How would they even try and replicate this at the dealership? Worth taking in since it is just a few drops it is this the precursor to something more devious if not taken care of?
