What would make a clutch switch keep going out? I've replaced it 3 times in the past year and at this point I'm pretty sure it's not bad switches. I currently have a UM NA tune with launch control which obviously doesn't work when the switch goes bad.

View 4 Replies03 Jetta. The cruise has not been working. Turning cruise on and off works fine as light comes on on dash. Brake pedal switch was replace about a year ago, and I don't think that is the problem because when this was the car would actually go into limp mode.
Just checked the clutch pedal switch by jumping the plug (This was the blue switch lower on the pedal), and still no cruise function. I'm really leaning toward it being the "set" switch/button on the steering wheel as this just feels kinda broken. Did I test the clutch pedal switch correctly? Any other reason the cruise would stop working?
On my 2001 Excursion the ac clutch went south over the weekend. I replaced the clutch with a factory clutch kit. Now the problems are baffling me.
I set the air gap at .020. The problem being when I turn the ignition switch on and turn on the ac switch the clutch does not engage. I still get cold air. When I start the truck and it runs the clutch is engaged without any problems, I turn it off and the clutch disengages.
I need to replace the safety switch on my 1995 S10 w/ a 5 speed manual tranny. It doesn't seem to want to come out. Looking at the new one, I would guess that it MAYBE fits in sort of like the holes on a wall hanger. You know, sort of a pear shaped hole that a screw or something fits into and slides down to make it stay. Am I right? And if so, how hard is it to get out/replace? I don't really want to destroy the old one, but that is looking more and more like how it's going to happen.

I was hoping for a simple test w/o Gauges. The Switch is in a real tough spot to remove it. I also heard they could be adjusted. There are no leaks in the system and no blockages, that we detected when we evacuated and recharged the system.
I have a 2005 Grand caravan with a 3.3L. Over the summer I was having issues with the transmission.Got the codes reaf, P0700 and P1726( I think). After this had an input speed sensor replaced and the TCM. The van worked for about 3 months, but now is acting up again. This time I got codes P0700 and P0704. Was told it was a clutch switch malfunction. Can't seem to find any details about this code.
View 1 RepliesI have a 1999 ford ranger and I believe my Clutch safety starting switch is going out. Some times I push my clutch in and truck starts fine other times it will not turn over so I stomp clutch and then it starts. My question is, is there any way to bypass this switch?
View 5 RepliesI have an 88 ranger 2.9 manual trans. The clutch safety switch wires melted (red with light blue) 2 come off the ignition, I traced the one to the clutch switch and replaced. My problem is my book says the other goes to " electronic shift control module", I can't find this module and I can't seem to chase wire as it gets lost in wire loom.

Ok...today by accident turned the key with the truck in gear and clutch not depressed...much to my surprise the truck tried to start and lurched forward.
Is this a sign of a failing clutch safety switch or Could it be an ignition switch problem? Anything else that I am not thinking of?
I'm getting a random 'no start' fault which I think is related to a clutch position switch. The dealer tells me the clutch pivot bushing and master cylinder push rod are worn out, which is causing the switch not to close when the clutch pedal is depressed.

I have an 2002 Volkswagen GTi 337 edition with the 1.8t engine in it. My check engine light came on so I went to my local autozone to check the code and that's what code it threw on the ODBII sensor. It says my problem could be a "failed clutch vacuum vent valve switch". It also revs about 100-200 rpms extra in between shifts and I'm not a mechanic but know a little about cars. I just don't know if I should replace the OEM clutch safety switch or what I should do about this.

But I am replacing my headlights with a custom projector housing with HID lows, halogen highs, LED Fogs, and CCFL halos, so I'd like the ability to turn on just parking lights or just the fog lights to show off the Halos etc. If I pick up a Bora Switch that has these features, will I have to re-wire/run through fuse box, etc.

Top is MK2 harness (red/black, red/green, solid red). Bottom is R32 harness (red/white, red/yellow, solid red).

View 8 RepliesSo I think my A/c high pressure switch went out/failed. I came out from a shop and I had just bought 2 new front tires and got them mounted 1 hour prior and I though that I had ran over something. I felt around the passenger tire but didn't find a anything-but there was a hissing noise behind the passenger tire and the air smelled a little funny. So when I got in the car and turned the a/c on nothing happened/No cold air and I had just used the A/c on the way over to the shop. So when I got home I pulled these codes:

So today i start my car and the idle was funny for a few seconds, checked to make sure there were no vacuum leaks, everything seemed fine. Then im sitting with the car in park waiting for someone and I feel the funny idle again. It stops then i notice only the light in the window switch blinks on and off about 2 times then the funny idle again.....normal for a minute blinkity blink funny idle....see a pattern. I noticed for the past 2 days the auto down for the pass. window doesnt work either. I wonder if they're related. It hasn't happened again but i haven't drove it much since that happened. Im going out now so when i get back ill update. Ill scan it on monday to see if it threw any codes.
