Golf IV R32 :: Cable Shifter Adjustment Gone Wrong?

Feb 20, 2010

Ok so I was putting a drill bit into the home slot under the shifter boot. I didn't realize it was so deep and the piece dropped all the way down the hole. Is this bad? If so, what can I do to get in there and get it?

Golf IV R32 :: Shifter Moving Slightly Side-to-side While In Gear - Shifter Cables Need Adjustment?

I recently changed the bushings and installed SS kit. I don't know if this was the case before, but now while in any gear, i can still move it approx half inch to the right and half inch to the left.

I checked everything and all screws are tight. Could it be that the shifter cables need adjustment?

Golf IV / Jetta IV :: Quick Shifter Linkage Adjustment (O2M Transmission)

So I just got 42dd shifter bushings and im having some issues!

Installation was no problem but once you complete the install you are supposed to re-adjust the linkage. First you have to lock the shifter in place, both in the cabin and in the engine bay (as shown in this Diesel Geek video: [URL] .... )

The only trouble I'm having is that i cannot locate the locking pin as shown in this integrated engineering picture: [URL] .....

Golf IV / Jetta IV :: Shifter Adjustment - Cannot Get Transmission Into Home Mode

When going to adjust my DG shifter since it wouldn't go into first I noticed that my L-shaped lever (02J-301-358C) on the tranny was more out then usually and could be pulled straight out with no resistance. I am guessing the piece at the end is also broken and will need to be pulled out, but how will I put the transmission into home mode after?

1992 GTZ V6 - Throttle Valve Cable Adjustment?

I'm attempting to adjust the TV cable on my 92 gtz V6 3sp auto as it is shifting late...I have found the following instructions (which seem simple enough):

Step 1 Stop engine.

Step 2 TBI equipped models, Remove air cleaner assembly.

Step 3 Push and hold down the metal readjusting tab at the engine end of the cable.

Step 4 While holding the tab down, move the slider until it stops against the fitting.

Step 5 Release adjustment tab.

Step 6 Rotate the throttle lever to the wide-open position, cable will come back and automatically readjust itself.

However, I don't know what I'm doing or better yet, looking at when I am trying to do this..I see the throttle, the cable, can move the throttle to wide open but what I'm not seeing/recognizing on the throttle mechanism is:

1. The metal adjusting tab at the engine end of the cable
2. The slider
3. The fitting the slider is supposed to butt up against

how to properly adjust the cable and have come up blank.

Ford Ranger / B-Series :: 2001 - Copper Cable Doesn't Move When The Shifter Does

After taking apart my instrument panel to change the bulbs, I went to reconnect everything, but now the gear shift indicator isn't working. I can change gears fine, and everything else on the instrument panel works just fine.

The copper cable that connects to the shifter doesn't move when the shifter does. Is there a way to fix this problem, or do I need to find a replacement cable?

Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: 2006 - ZF6 Shifter Adjustment - Bent To Right?

I've put about 500 miles on my new to me 06 F250 4x4, CC, SB, V-10. One thing that is slightly annoying is the shifter position in R, L, 1 and 2. Shifter is against my knee in those positions. Re bent the shifter to place the more to the right? I have buckets with a console so I don't need to worry about a center passenger's legs. I have plenty of benders and metal working tools at my disposal, just asking for some guidance.

Golf/GTI VII :: Headlights Aimed Wrong?

So Ive had my GTi with LP for a week now, and every nite on my way into work the guy in front of me or the middle lane (if I'm in the left) Gets behind me and throws on his high-beams....as if I have my high beams on and they are trying to get even....It sometimes happens 3-4 times on a 30 mile trip. I know they are dynamic and adjust themselves left/right/up/down but I was wondering if they were possibly aimed wrong from the factory?

Golf/GTI VI :: 2008 - Steering Wheel Wrong Top View Angle

I have a weird question about the nice gti steering wheel. I noticed it some times ago on my old 2008 rabbit too and didnt really cared much when I saw that on the steering wheel of the 2010 gti. Did you noticed that the SW angle isnt good from a top view, I means, when u look at it carefully, did you noticed that the SW is more prononced to the right side, it easier to notice it when u look from a top perspective view of the SW. When u use 2-hands on the SW, u can notice that your left-hand is closer of you that the right-hand. Why Volks designed it like that way?

Golf IV / Jetta IV :: On Cold Start - Weird Noise - Using Wrong Coolant?

not sure if this is normal or not. usually ONLY comes when I turn my car on for the first time of the day. (cold start obviously, keep in mind its cold where i live at this time of year), there is a weird whistling like sound. goes away when the rpm gauge hits 10/ after 1 minute of the engine running. at odd times it will come on again after leaving the car off for a few hours, after work for example. I was told it because I'm using the wrong coolant??

Golf IV / Jetta IV :: R32 Cluster Swap - Reads Wrong Fuel Level

The cluster works fine in the car. MFA works. The immobiler does activate but my ecu has an immobilizer defeat so it doesn't kill the car. I'm not having any of the usual issues with cluster swaps. I'll get the immobilizer issue recoded later. My issue is with the fuel level indicator. I have half a tank of fuel and it is reading full. I've researched and found out the r32 has 2 fuel sending units and this may be where the problem is. If so is it a matter of re-adapting the cluster or is it slightly more complicated than that?

My R has the aux input in the glove box. Connecting to my iPod works, but the cable I have is too fat/thick to let me close the door. Any nice, thin/flat audio connector that would work so I can close the glove box and leave the iPod out where I can control it? If I can find one I'd get a portable nav and connect it via its headphone jack for Bluetooth phone use.

Golf/GTI VI :: Shift Cable Missing Some Clips And Rattling In The Undercarriage

I bought a 2011 golf 6 2.5 litre 5 door. The second day driving it I discovered a noise coming from under the middle vents in the dash. I took it back to the dealer and they said it was a noise coming because the cable shift was missing some clips and it was rattling in the undercarriage. They replaced the entire cable and I'm finding the same problem only not as loud as before (however it is still there). I'm finding it is making noise around 1200 rpm when going up or down a hill (especially when he car has back passengers in the back or any form of weight in the trunk). The moment I accelerate the noise goes away. Noise is also more pronounced when I have the summer rims and tires on (18s oem). At this point the sound is intermediate however it's something i want to get out of the way. What it could be.?
