View 3 RepliesI took the car out for a little spin about 8 miles. We where about .5 of a mile from the house and there is a section where you have to stop on a little bit of a hill. I stalled the car due to the new Dm clutch then headed to the house and the car started to run like crap. I hooked up VAGCOM and had this code:
17748.P1340 camshaft position sensor-G40/ Engine speed sensor-G28: incorrect allocation(#1)
I swapped out the 2 cam position sensors and cleared the code and started the car and it still ran like crap. I just happen to have a new Cam position sensor(hall sensor) so I swapped it out in both cam positions one at a time and cleared the code and the car still runs like crap.
Is there a way to check(test) with vagcom to see if its one of the engine speed sensors?
I recently picked up a 2000 jetta vr6 for a very good price its a glx I have owned a vr6 before and done timing chains myself on it this one is a glx , I am having 5 fault engine codes on my vagcom they are cam position sensor , knock sensor, secondary injection pump, and mass air flow it ran fine 100 miles yesterday this morning the epc came on then went off and ran bad can these codes all be related or do I have to replace each sensor individually..
View 9 RepliesJust yesterday on the way to the shop (Phantom Autowerke) I hit a bump and my cel immediately came on. Car is running the same, boost is the same just have the cel on my dash. When i got to the shop they used to the vag com to see what are the faults. Turned out to be my 2nd and 3rd 02 sensor. The owner informs me that it may be a tuning issue.
I have spacers on both the 2nd and 3rd 02 sensor, not the 1st (but that one is not the issue here). Owner of Phantom tells me to ask John if they gave me GIAC file for someone with a cat. John informs me that GIAC software is meant for people running a cat. which I was not aware of however i have never had a cel before and before and after the stage 2 Giac software I had no cel.
Now my 02 sensors can not be bad considering my car only has 9,400 miles.
so I have been getting a 'hiccup' if u want to call it that, with the tps sensor and/or throttle bodie. every so often I like to scan my car for kicks :p and noticed that (not all the time) my g188 or g187 tps leave a code but no CEL. I know I been getting an odd bog like feel when flooring from a stand still or low RPM and have done some reading on it, the tps could be related to that and since I do get a code but no failure I want to see if maybe it's going bad? also since the tb and tps are one unit and $$$ how often do they go bad?
View 2 RepliesI need to know but I'm not near the car.
View 1 RepliesI got the entire bag setup done, air lines ran, struts mounted, everything wired, air pumps tested, then the dreaded E-Level sensors....
View 24 RepliesYesterday, my wife took my car to LA and the CEL came on and stayed on (it's not blinking). It doesn't seem like anything is really wrong with the car other than the light being on. My wife says it seems to be running fine since the CEL came on.
Then this morning, my wife turned on the car and the check tire light came on, but then went off. Last week, I had my new rims (19x.8.5) and tires (235/35-19) installed, so I guess that could have something to do with it. My wife checked the tires and there's nothing wrong with them.
I want to figure out what the heck is going on with my R (sucks that all this started happening the one time my wife took the car out of town....Murphy's law I guess). I have an APR stage 1 tune, and want to avoid potential issues with a punk dealership in LA. Consequently, I'd like to try to figure out what is going on with my VAG-COM before I take it to the dealer.
Here are my questions:
1. Could my new rims and tires have caused the CEL to come on and stay on? Seems unlikely, but since the check tire light started acting up, I though they might be related.
2. Is there a way to scan my car with VAC-COM to figure out what is causing the CEL?
I am a newbie Golf owner and have little trouble. I am not sure where is the map sensor located in my 1.8 tsi engine. I've been googling and have not found pic or technical drawing to be 100% proof which one is it.
View 2 RepliesWasn't there a TSB for this? I've searched Google and Vortex with nothing for the MKVI but I could swear I read something on this.
I am accumulating oil/grim right around the sensor and it's beginning to irritate me. I want to take her to the dealer but would rather know for sure of any possible TSB out there so I have something to reference.
I have a mk4 r32 with 110,000 miles and I'm throwing a p0016 code witch I believe is cam position sensor my timing chains and guides were changed at 90k car runs good and if I erase the code it doesn't come on right away maybe every 200-500 miles:confused could this just be a bad cam sensor there is also no oil leaking from them and they are tight.
View 14 RepliesWhat are the symptoms of a bad o2 sensor, 2.0.. My son is having some problems with his car hesitating when he gets into the throttle and the only codes we are getting shows bad O2 sensor pre cat.
View 2 Replies2000 Jetta 2.0. 140k miles. Cranked, but would not fire. Sprayed starter fluid... nothing. No spark. Checked fuel pump and fuel pump relay, all is well. I let it sit over night. I tried starting it, ran for 4 to 5 seconds shut off. Disconnected MAF sensor, it ran. Put in a new MAF sensor, back to cranking no fire. Let it sit over night, started up again. Tried to drive, stalled. Unpliged MAF sensor, now its running. Drove around parking lot. Afraid to take it out, don't want to be stranded.
View 1 RepliesMy oil sensor light goes off under specific conditions, and it's consistent and 100% repeatable.
It's an MK4 Golf GTI 5-sp Manual, and whenever I'm slowing down and the engine is under 2000 revs, the sensor light goes off. This includes stopping, slowing going down or up hills, and really anytime the engine is lower than 2000 revs.
I've replaced the oil sensor, no dice. I don't know what else the issue might be?
I have these two items removed and before I hit the road with the car I would like to get these damn sensors outta my cluster. What ohm resistors I need for each item? I lost my meter and would really like to not buy another.
View 15 RepliesHow difficult is it to replace the crank position sensor? It looks pretty tucked away at the front of the engine. Just wondering how much time I should put aside for this job.
View 15 RepliesIf the sensor starts to work loose the engine will keep advancing until valve loving embraces little piston then the party is over.
View 12 RepliesIs it possible to disable the TPS using vag com?
I am using the car for the track and don't want to have sensors on several sets of wheels.
Where the Coolant Temperature Sensor is located in the R32? Need to replace it. I searched but luck so far.
View 23 RepliesThe wire pulled out of the back of the connector on the harness side... I know I could just cut the connector off and hard wire the thing together but I would like do do it as cleanly as possible...
View 1 Replies2000 jetta vr6 manual 150k miles, i have trouble starting the engine so I thought i'd start by replacing the crankshaft sensor. I notice that its wet with oil when i pull it out, and wasn't sure if tits supposed to be dry. I may have a bad ECU in the end...
