The kid came out today. My friend has a late E320 MBZ and went for a spirited drive. from 20 I pulled on him hard. But back to the title..
I made a U turn in 1st gear with light throttle and then half way through the turn I nailed it causing the rear to break loose and get sideways. My buddy saw smoke coming from the rear tires too.
Noticed today in the snow, I was pulling out of the driveway in 2H and the rear tires broke loose, weird sound coming from the front end like the truck was trying to engage the 4 wheel drive but it wouldn't go in. Traction control? Threw it in 4H and the sound went away????
View 1 RepliesI just got back from Town and Country Toyota charlotte, NC. They did my oil change and tire rotation. I also told them the rear spoiler is loose and making noise over bumps, they ordered a new one under warranty. I also wanted a new driver side wiper blade, they also are ordering a new one under warranty. So so far they are doing a good job. I have been there one time before.
View 4 RepliesI just picked up my new 2011 last night. Noticed today it looks like the corner of the rear bumper on the passenger side is not flush with the car and seems loose. Its not to noticeable but when compared with the driver side there is definitely a difference.

View 2 RepliesI am in my new gti, owned for 6 days, waiting for a tow truck. I was driving down the freeway when it felt like I blew a tire. I pull over to the side of the road and none of the tires are flat. I look under the car and a piece of the rear suspension has come loose and jamed itself in front of the tire. Its a long peice of metal with a hook on the end.
View 24 RepliesYesterday I noticed the rear driver's side speaker buzzing in my GTI S. Is it possible that I already have a blown speaker (I don't usually crank the system)? Maybe it has something to do with the -5 temps? Anyway, should I take it to the dealer or see about getting some aftermarket speakers since the S sound system is pretty mediocre?
View 9 RepliesWhen I looked at them a couple days ago I noticed that on the top of the original springs (I'd say first and maybe some of the second down) looked shiny and clean like it was making contact with the spiral above it. Could this be a warning sign of needing new springs or is this somewhat normal? The Car is a hair under 82k miles.
View 4 RepliesOne thing that brought me here is the noise of my liftgate when being closed. When the liftgate contacts the latch it makes a rattle-y/loose sound. The trunk is locked and secure however the sound is very off-putting. I bought my 2010 Prius II as a CPO last year and never really thought much about the noise, only that it didn't sound very pretty.
However, I was recently sideswiped and was put in a 2013 Prius II and the liftgate closes with a solid thunk with no loose rattles. What could be causing this squeaky/rattle sound? I thought it could be my license plate frame since rentals typically don't use frames, but it seems really unlikely.
My rear-end differential came apart and is not repairable. I have a 1997 F150, 2WD, 4.6L engine, 5 lug wheels. Which years have the same rear ends so I can scour the junk yards for a replacement?
View 4 RepliesI was loading some 2x4's and one hit the rear tail light housing and broke it easily. Hard to believe it broke so easy. Will be picking up a new one at the dealer! Wish it was made out of high impact plastic . You can't just get the clear cover. You have the buy the whole unit.
View 8 RepliesI have a 2013 F250 6.7 w/ 96000. I ran over a log and tore the rear section of the exhaust. I was told to buy the OEM version or do the DPF/EGR Delete.
I don't have a lot of $$$$, so which way do I go. Whats the least expensive Delete.
damn motor or something broke and of course its fully open. any tricks to disengage from powered sliding system? just need to get by for a bit til i can get to the dealer.

View 3 RepliesThe other day the plastic top piece of my shift knob broke off (that had the shift pattern painted on it) and it made me once again want to replace the stock shift knob. I was considering buying one, but other than TWM I can't find any that I really like, so I want to machine one myself. My biggest problem in planning right now is what metal to use, SS is nice but expensive, and how to attach it to the leather and the stick. The only way I can think of attaching it to the stick is with set screws which would be hard to drill.
View 1 RepliesOver the past few months I've been hearing a popping sound from under my seat when I move a certain way and figured it was just the cold or another new sound well today I found out it was the seat frame mount and it finally snapped, pictures to follow.
Went to the dealer they quoted part/labor is gonna be around $1000 so I took it to a friends shop to see if he can weld it or if it's too far gone, should be getting it fixed this week, for now it's zip ties and really cautious driving.
One of the nozzles on the back of my intake manifold broke off. I don't know how to better explain it. The ones the back of the manifold closest to the firewall there are several hoses that hook to the manifold. The second one from the left broke.
View 7 RepliesI was putting on the H& R sports springs tonight and was onto the last corner, front passenger when one of the 3 ball joint bolts broke off. It was so rusted that the nut didn't want to come loose. I used too much force and out came the piece. Do I just go buy a new ball joint at the local VW dealer and swap it out. I didn't touch the other two and the car is still driveable. It's the middle one, exactly as shown in this photo from the DIY.
View 6 RepliesIn the process of selling my mk4 gti 12V, anyways. this morning while taking pics I went to pop the hood and the lever (one by the pedals in car) felt really lose and it didn't pop the hood. I'm assuming the cable either broke or disconnected, oddly enough it was working fine last night. Is there a way to get the hood open without the lever? I know my way around a car, just have never encountered this problem...
View 2 RepliesAfter the update the phone still pairs no problem. Haven't tried Bluetooth audio but when making calls connection appears to mute? The call doesn't drop and I can hear the caller but they sporadically can't hear me.This is in my wife's 2011 Golf with RCD510.
View 1 RepliesMy girlfriend's 2005 Jetta 2.0 overheated and then broke down after making some pretty awful clanking noises. Now it will not start. I'm going to be doing the repairs myself (and learning a lot along the way).
The car will not start. When I try to start it, it makes a 'whining' noise, which I'm assuming is the starter. This is not the first repair I've done on her car. She wants to get rid of it, but now that I've done so much work on it, I've grown a bit attached to it. Plus I think I can save her a bunch of money in the long run If I fix this myself. Here's where I am so far:
I removed the cover over the camshaft pulley and had a look while my SO turned the key to try to start the car. I noticed a couple things:
1. There are no teeth on the timing belt.
2. The camshaft pulley still turns, but not continuously. It turns a little then stops, and then tries again. (Engine not seized?)
I have ordered a code reader which should be here in a couple days. With that I'm hoping to check if there's a compression problem. If so, I'm under the impression that that would indicate a blown head gasket, or bent valves. I checked the oil to see if it looks milky and It still looks like regular oil.
