Why my ashtray light and the lights next to all four air vents are out. Cigarette lighter is working but the light around it is not??? Maybe a fuse or a bulb???

View 3 RepliesYou know that little storage compartment with the electric socket (looks like an ashtray), well all of a sudden today mine won't stay closed. I've had it get stuck closed, but never stuck open, how to know exactly where the hinge is? Could it be stuck in the closed position? Or is it a spring or something? I know I could take it to the dealer and have it fixed but I really don't have time to drop it there.
View 5 RepliesAs stated in title, it stays open half way. I was thinking just converting it to none lid one since I always keep it open, and I believe the non closing one would hold more items?
View 2 RepliesMy ashtray opened and now will not close. I can push it in but it opens again. This probably requires me to take it out and I am not sure how to remove the ashtray.
View 3 RepliesI know this is a minor issue as problems go, but i put coins in my ash trays and just as i placed some coins in the driver ashtray i think one or two of them fell behind the tray and when I placed the tray closed, it closed and will not open. The more i pushed it the more it went in. How do I open this without damaging the wood.
View 1 RepliesI am attempting to install an XM Commander in the ashtray area.
I have Spockat's wires and all the proper stuff, but then realized that I have never tried to pull apart the TReg to expose behind and underneath the console, ashtray and footwell area. There seem to be two main things:
There is a horizontal piece of plastic that runs the length of the side of the center console. At the footwell end of it there is a cut out piece that is locked back into place. I assume this somehow snaps out and allows you to pull off the plastic trim. How this piece removes?
Then just above the gas pedal there is an odd screw that holds the carpeting in place. It has three "holes" in it and it appears it takes a special screwdriver to remove it. Taking this out and pulling back the carpet seemingly would allow me access underneath and behind the center console area which is where I was wanting to place the brain.
I didn't want to start jerking and pulling on pieces hoping that they just "pop apart"...
How to repair where the roof vents and dome lights go? The headliner is in great shape, but a few of the vents have been pulled out and I would like to fix them.
View 3 RepliesI have a 2011 Santa Fe, I closed my ashtray the other day and now it won't open!!! It has change in it and I expect a coin has jammed it. The door will push in a little just like it normally would to open it but it won't pop open.
View 14 RepliesMy ashtray has been open for as long as I can remember because when I close it, it rattles. I have a Lariat with the center console. What should be done to fix ashtray rattle, pics would be useful.
View 4 RepliesI need to do various jobs concerning my center console (I need to change ashtray bulb!!). How to remove it, I've been told to start from the back (removing rear ashtray and cupholder).
View 2 RepliesThe driver and passenger side were no problems at all, but the center vent is giving me trouble. I've seen the how-to, but can't get it to pop out. I don't really have a proper screwdriver, at home, to push up on the two clips on the top inside of the vent, but I used a hard plastic interior trim removal tool, while prying at the top with another. I have left the bottom controls in as I can't pull the left side buttons out enough to disconnect them while the vent is still in.
View 4 RepliesWent to use my windshield defrost this morning on my way to work. everything went fine. Leaving work I selected the face vents with my AC on and it only blows hard from the windshield vent even though its already been depressed.
View 4 Replieshow to remove the AC vents without breaking them? When I turned my AC on today it sounded like there was something blocking this vent and restricting airflow. It's very annoying and I'm not really sure how to go about trying to get in there to unblock the vent.
View 3 RepliesSo tonight I went to turn my fan on for my heat when I started my car and noticed it is will only work when it is on the highest speed (4 I think). What the issue could be?
View 10 RepliesHaving problem with sunroof when it's popped up to just vent? It rattles LOUD! Least little bump... not sure what to do? 2012 GTI.
View 3 RepliesHave a super annoying rattle from the top vent on top of the dashboard in the middle. I can put my wifes handbag on it in order to stop it. Told the dealer about it the past 4 visits and get different answers every time but no fixes. Passed 15k miles and now they say rattle warranty is over so how hard is it to take the vent off so i can doctor some foam tape or something in there?
View 9 RepliesI know this is a long shot but experienced a rattle coming from the center vent section and have a fix for it? Normally small rattles don't bother me, and it's a VW, but it's loud enough that I can hear it over the radio, so it's particularly annoying.
I took the headunit and vent out, tried to tighten the screws that secures the structure that holds the headunit in and looked around, didn't see anything. If you apply pressure to the top of the center vent it makes the rattle go away too.
So at this point, I'll have to take it into the dealer unless someone has a found a fix for it. 3,000 miles and three problems that have required trips to the dealership /end rant
I ordered the gauge kit, installed it with the printed out DIY (CIMs)
Looks great, everything is tight, no leaks. All power going to the gauge (even the dimmer).
When power is connected via the plug in the back of the gauge, the needle goes from -30 to 30, full swing like some newer vehicles, not when the car is turned on.
Here's the problem, is doesnt read anything. Sits at -30 at idle, rev (limiter) and under load. The DIY says it should be somewhere around -20 at idle.
The only thing I can think of is the pressure sending unit is broken. I know faulty equipment is not uncommon and I'm not mad if that is the case as long as it gets resolved, I just want to get this thing working. This is NOT a bash against CIM either, I don't want anyone getting the wrong idea.
Also, I used a forge boost tap. Everything tight, and secure, no leaks going to the filter, or the 4" hose from filter to psi sending unit. Did I miss anything that's not in the write up? Early 11 model DSG MKVI
When ever I turn my vent air on or change the temperature dial in my golf (non-climate control) the A/C turns on. If I just have the heater on and its too warm and I turn the dial from red toward blue the A/C will turn it self on. If I keep the heat the same and turn the fan from 1 to 2 the A/c will turn itself on. (At least the A/C signal lights up yellow.)
Is this normal for the golf or is something screwy? maybe it needs the ac to dehumidify or something but it is tough to constantly manually turn off the a/c. And btw If I hit the "off" button, the a/c will turn off, but then turn itself back on if i do any thing else.
So I'm approaching my first service interval and I'm wanting the dealer to check out a few minor issues I've been having with my GTI. Namely, a squeaky sunroof when it's cold out, slight vent fan rattle, and the occasional "fish bite" from the engine. I've already talked to the dealer and told them of the issues and they seemed reluctant to give me a loaner if the car takes longer than a day.
