My car came with the Evoms CAI stage 1 with the sock. When its drawing in air I'm getting this annoying whistle sound. Ive had other intakes on my other R and this is just plain annoying.
View 19 RepliesI've done the best I can to block out an annoying sound coming from what I think are the door panels (unsure at this point).
When I bring the vehicle to a stop, release the brake and give it some gas (light to moderate acceleration, mind you), 90+/100 times I get a clearly audible "click" from one or both sides of the car. It seems to be emanating from the door panels. Sounds like hard plastic/plastic of maybe plastic/metal sound. It's not loud, but definitely there and definitely annoying since I enjoy driving without the radio on.
Issue was acknowledged by a tech and service manager at the dealership, who agreed this is not normal for a MKV, even one with 40,000 miles on it. However, they offered no solutions, only horror stories of fighting with door alignment on a MKVI.
My new to me Golf makes a strange "whistle" sound around 2000+ RPM. In any gear only when accelerating. My car does not have a turbo so its not that, the sound is coming from the motor it self. Very strange.
I dont think it comes from the tranny or clutch.
Car has 95K miles on it, t-belt and water pump done at 68k (but in 2008!, inspected it and the belt looks fine, no cracks or fraying or anything) This whistle sound is so strange. My wife says it sound like a whistle then it changes to a slight vibration sound.

I have a whistle sound mostly upon decel when the engine was cold. I have the APR down pipe installed. Today it's doing it all the time even when warm. I took the car to the dealer and they said it was prolly an exhaust leak. I took the car to my friends shop and we put the car up on the lift and listened from underneath. It sounded like the turbo was echoing in the down pipe. Sometimes when it's cold it can be very loud. So my question is if this is normal with the APR down pipe or with this turbo or is this a sign that I have a turbo failure coming?
So i have been hearing a whistle under acceleration for some time. Normally comes at 1/2 to full throttle. I also have had check engine light for a bad o2 sensor for about the same amount of time(2months). Fast forward to last week. finally replaced sensor. Check engine is gone. Open her up a little on and on ramp, Whistle is still there and the CEL comes back. Have it scanned, and it come back load calculation cross check 17551. I need an sticker so i rest the ecu (no light) and drove it like a grandma 50miles to get the sticker. No CEL. Get sticker. Just to make sure i wasn't crazy i gave her some gas on the way out of the inspection lot, and there is the CEL.
In conclusion, Between the whistle, CEL, and the fact that i drove it 50 miles with out the CEL coming back under very light throttle, and i just replaced the MAF with a new Bosch 2 months ago, i am pretty sure it is some kind of vac leak.
I have a new TB gasket in the mail, but my question is, Is there other places where such a vac leak is common in these cars? Other info on car.

Experienced this issue on your Passat? If so what was done to fix it? In my case pressing buttons does not stop the noise, it will go on for almost 5 minutes. Also I have a problem with my navigation freezing up when I hit the he nav button, it will lock up sometimes for 5 to 15 minutes.
I ve this annoying sound in my car and i think its my rear wheel bearing. My car ( 2005 3.0 TDI V6) is also due for the 4th Long Life Service. I was told that this is a major service.
View 6 Repliesadjust the electrically adjustable seat to her position. Since that is quite further forward than my programmed position the seatbelt was quickly choking her. So before I knew (I was sitting next to her) she unbuckled, with a bang.The bang was because there was quite a lot of pressure on the seatbelt.
No harm, nothing broken, at least ... until I heard the ping ping ping sound even though both of our seatbelts were in their sockets or whatever you call them. Inserting again, no change. Still the 'seatbelt light' on + the annoying sound.
Should I try to open the seatbelt socket/block/the thing where you insert your seatbelt in and see if there is some broken wire inside ?

View 5 RepliesWhen the sunroof is open all the way, as soon as I reach the speeds of over 25, there is this annoying Wind noise that kinda hurts the ears. It goes away if I crack a window open slightly. I've test driven other cars (bmw 3 series) and there was no wind noise. It's not a big problem. It's has probably has something to do with laws of physics?
View 9 RepliesNoticed this shortly after taking delivery but now it's become worse. When I'm under hard throttle or on really grainy/old paved roads I can hear this rattle like there is no tomorrow. At first, I thought it was something plastic behind the speedo and I tried pressing/tapping and praying for this to go away haha.
I've come to realize it's coming from the dashboard where the VIN plate is attached.
I have been experiencing a terrible wind noise coming from the door seal, it is intolerable and I just can't believe it is normal. I can hear it coming from the passenger side as well, but not nearly as bad. If I press against the area while driving, it will stop. It occurs at any speed north of 60mph.

GTI two weeks old. I've been listening to a loud chirp or two anytime I go over any bump or surface irregularity that seemed to be coming behind the passenger seat somewhere. So... I lowered the back seats and it disappeared. Put one seat up, still no squeak, Both seats up, no squeak. Worth trying if you have same problem.
View 10 RepliesI have a very intermittent problem when starting my car. Usually it is when it's very hot outside, although not always. Start the car with the AC on, recirc, after about 3-5 seconds its a very loud "slide whistle" type sound (going from lower to higher, pretty high pitched). It only lasts about a second and sounds like something opening and creaking? Brought it to the dealership before, but its so intermittent that I doubt they tried very hard to find it. It probably only happens once or twice a month and will not duplicate if I turn off the car and start it again.

New to the 6 liter powerstroke recently upgraded from my 7.3. Recently this odd whistle sound started and I can't quite seem to fogure out the cause. At first it only happened if I was going 70 mph and now it will do it anytime it builds more than 15lbs of boost. I tried tightening some clamps and stuff but that did nothing.

Sounds like air pressure being released, sort of a quick whistle or squeal just as he pushes the gas pedal, coming from under the hood somewhere.
It happens at 60 mph with foot off the gas.

I have 140,000 miles on my 2005 F-150 and for the past year I have noticed a somewhat high-pitch whistle or howling sound coming from either the front or underneath. The pitch and volume continuously varies as though it is just tire howl, but I just changed all four tires and no results. It gets much louder at about 65 mph and 78 mph, but I don't hardly hear it at any other speed. My brother says it's just a wind whistle, but I strongly disagree as it doesn't change when i drive against or with a strong wind. I rely on this pickup for work and can't afford to be without it for more than a day or two, so, for peace of mind at least, I would like to know what is making the sound.

Recently, I've noticed a sound coming from the passenger side when stopped at lights or when I've just parked. Best description would be a bit like a crackle (liquidy/whistly type of sound). Only happens when the A/C/defogger is on.
It's not very noticeable, I only hear it when I don't have the radio on, but it's been bothering me. I found a few posts about a rattle, but from what I can remember, it's not really a rattle.

Mysterious noise like WOMMMMM, WOMMMM itinerantly: Noise is only when air conditioning is on and the engine is warm. I can feel vibrations in the brake pedal. *You can't hear the noise under the hood*. It is quite loud in the cab, though, definitely coming from under the dashboard.
I have stuck my nose in. I removed the glove box and listened to the blower motor, it seemed to be coming from further toward the driver's side. It will be like wmmmmOMMMMM WOMMMMM pause WOMMMM like something is vibrating too close to something else and the friction causes it to go back to where it was.
I hit a speed bump going a bit fast. I broke the small cooling fan somehow so it was just loose hanging on its hub. I had that repaired but the noise hasn't gone away. It seems to be getting more frequent but so far there isn't any indication of the car suffering. This is the second summer it has made the noise.It haunts my sleep.
