View 5 RepliesSo I had my hood open to check my oil, not a big deal for a 2001 Jetta 1.8t. When I shut the hood, the car decided to simultaneously lock, and now the horn/alarm is going off and the key fob won't unlock the car or disable the alarm. And the keys don't work in the door/trunk so I can't get inside. What I should do?
View 5 RepliesNew 2015 Mercedes E350 wagon ..... The day after I took delivery, I tried to open the new wagon's doors (it has a keyless feature) and nothing happened. I tried again and still nothing happened. I then took the smartkey out of my pocket and tried to click open the locks and nothing happened. I then took the ancillary key out of the smartkey and unlocked the car manually. This set off the alarm which would only stop when I closed the door and relocked the car.
Also, the car would not start. It was like I had broken in to the car. A few minutes later, while waiting for roadside assistance to speak with me, I tried the door handle again and discovered that the doors would now open keylessly. I have driven the car several times since the incident (which occurred yesterday) and it has not repeated the problem. What caused the problem? Is this a one time glitch or am I in danger of being stranded somewhere?
Once I was driving down the street, stopped at a red light, and then the alarm just started going off! I sat there and looked around for a couple of seconds and realized that it was my car. I figured out hitting the panic button turned it off. Happened again the next day, but not since. Whats up with that?!
View 8 Replies I have the car in storage for the winter, and from time to time i will go out and start it. I also hook up one of those automatic battery tenders every so often to make sure that my battery doesn't die completely. I bought the car about 3 months ago, and when i bought it, i could tell within seconds that the car needed a new battery. I will buy one and install it as soon as i am ready to start driving it again. So thats the background story.
My problem is this.... for some reason, with no regularity, the alarm just starts going off. Sometimes it will go off shortly after i ran the car, sometimes it will go off when the car has been completely undisturbed for days. Im wondering what is causing this. I have read things about the sensors having trouble with moisture, but i don't think that is the problem because it has been inside the garage for over 2 months.
All buttons on my key fob now cause the alarm to go off, and it won't deactivate. Even when the car starts up it still goes. Changed battery in my key- nothing. Reset battery- nothing. So what is the cause Battery? Key fob? Fuse? What is going on?
View 4 RepliesSo I don't have the option of turning off the chirp from my convenience menu...like it says in the owner's manual.Any way to activate this via vag com?
View 3 RepliesAfter being to a dealership to set up alarm, i noticed that hidden menu bar wich appear when i put the finger close, doesn't work. Is there any option to turn on that function or something else could be a problem?

Key fob has not worked for awhile so I use the physical key to lock and unlock the door. I locked the doors when I went to the movies last night come out and unlocked the doors as I always do, Get in and start my car and the alarm starts going off.
So of course I have a little freak out moment after about 30 seconds it went off. So I turn the car off and start it again same thing happened. I say screw it and drive it and the alarm shuts off once more.
I did notice when I got home and turned the car off the red light by the drivers side door lock knob was blinking.
I have looked all over the place and everything that I read says the car won't start. My car starts and drives just fine it's just when I first start it the alarm goes off for about 30-45 seconds.
My 04 jetta, if I use any buttons on the remote it sets the alarm off. I've checked with a vag com and can see all the doors, hood and trunk open and close. Central locking works, it locks at speed, and will lock / unlock all the doors from the drivers door lock .
View 3 RepliesHow good the alarm on a B6 is. I mean, it goes off when the doors are opened and the alarm is on...but how easy is it to steal a Passat.
I wanna put a navi in and do a few things...but I just don't feel ok doing them and knowing I don't have a GREAT alarm.
This morning, while getting ready for work, my car's alarm sounded. I ran outside in the rain, and it was beeping and flashing, but there was no one around. I unlocked the doors, looked inside, everything looked fine. Shut her up, reset the alarm. Not 2 minutes pass and it goes off again. Same drill. This time I start the car and the MFA indicates the rear compartment is open, I check and it's not. I open it, shut it, and reset the alarm. You know what happens next, the alarm goes off.
View 8 RepliesIt's not particularly bothersome, I actually kind of prefer it but i'm just wondering if its something I did, perhaps a sequence of button presses on the remote that made it stop honking every time I lock it. It just started happening out of the blue and now it doesn't honk anymore, started 4 days ago
View 7 RepliesMy alarm some time back just decided to no longer chirp when armed and disarmed.
View 13 RepliesWell my alarm is not working properly, when lock my doors all my doors lock but yet my headlights don't flash and i dont get any alarm chirp..
View 2 RepliesI installed a remote start a while back. What I am struggling with is every other time or 3rd time I try to start it the horn goes off like a car alarm. Initially I was having a key issue and would get the immobilizer alert on the dash and It would fire and then shut off. Now if the horn starts going off all I do is hit the lock button and it stops after a couple honks and then starts like nothing happened.
View 2 RepliesI found out why my alarm would not honk on arming.. the hood microswitch had fallen out of the latch.. i can't for the life of me find the right place for it.. Looking for a pic of the proper install?
View 18 RepliesJust picked up a new MK6 Golf w/ Convenience and we ran into something weird the other day.
With the car locked and the windows open, if you open the car from the inside handle the alarm doesn't go off at all. The red light is blinking when the car is locked, but no alarm goes off at all.
I double checked with my MK5 and same scenario and the alarm goes off and only way to turn it off is unlocking the car. Why this would happen? Is there a setting that could've changed?
I've got a 2012 base model Golf. The key fob does not work and I have to lock the car manually. The issue is when I unlock the car, the alarm goes off. Quite annoying in early morning hours or in full parking lots with people staring at me. I'm looking to either disable the honking portion of the alarm, or just completely disable it.
View 4 RepliesSo in my 05 gti , the door ajar light stays on and when it does go off it will randomly blink ! I'm guessing there must be a loose connection somewhere ? Also all of a sudden my alarm will randomly go off . It's annoying . I'm not sure how to fix it .
View 1 RepliesI have an 03 JETTA TDI 5 SPEED WAGON with 216 on it. The parking brake alarm recently came on for no reason (as did the warning light) As soon as you move 50' it starts and wont stop until you stop the vehicle. I pulled the center console, unplugged the switch and it still did it. I jumped the 2 wires together and it still did it! I cut the wires at the point where they disappeared into the larger harness, it still did it!!! Why this is happening and if there is something besides the switch at the park brake lever that make the alarm go off?
