Golf IV / Jetta IV :: Water Coming Into Trunk Via Vent Valves

Jul 20, 2016

I get a very small (between a teaspoon and tablespoon) amount of water coming in through my trunk vent valves when it rains heavy. I replaced them last week with new OEM ones thinking that was the problem because the old vents used the foam for the seal (new ones have rubber for the seal). I noticed that the water is coming in through the openings of the flaps for some reason. The water is not coming in through the seal of the vent valves at all. I also used silicone for that too just to be safe. Some how water is getting between my bumper and trunk and dripping down into the fabric flaps of the vents.

Golf/GTI VI :: Rattle Coming From Center Vent Section

I know this is a long shot but experienced a rattle coming from the center vent section and have a fix for it? Normally small rattles don't bother me, and it's a VW, but it's loud enough that I can hear it over the radio, so it's particularly annoying.

I took the headunit and vent out, tried to tighten the screws that secures the structure that holds the headunit in and looked around, didn't see anything. If you apply pressure to the top of the center vent it makes the rattle go away too.

So at this point, I'll have to take it into the dealer unless someone has a found a fix for it. 3,000 miles and three problems that have required trips to the dealership /end rant

Golf/GTI VI :: 2012 - Crackling Sound Coming From Inside Passenger Vent

So my 2012 GTI (2DR/6spd/Nav) has a crackling/static sound coming out of the passenger vent.

I took off the vent and the side panel of the dash and took a look around, and can't find anything that causes the sound. It's sounds like static, and it pops and crackles.

It happens particularly on rough roads, and it's driving me insane! I wouldn't mind it so much if I knew what was causing it.

Golf IV / Jetta IV :: Opening Trunk Of 2004 GLS With Key

Can I use my key to open my trunk in the case of a dead battery? I disconnected my battery last night to try it out, but it wouldn't open. Some people say turn the key 50 degrees, but I don't think my key will turn that far. I was also scared of snapping the key off in the lock.

Golf IV / Jetta IV :: 2004 GLS - Trunk Only Opens With Key

So my 04 GLS Jetta has had this issue for a while and I would like to find out why. If I pull the button for the trunk in the drivers door or press the button my key to open the trunk, nothing happens. The lights will flash when I press the button on the key but no sound comes from the trunk. Same goes for the trunk release button in the door. No sound. The only way I can open the trunk is to use the actual key and while I turn the key, I have to press down on the trunk. Turning the key alone will not open the trunk. It only opens when I press down on the trunk and turn the key.

Is this normal if the trunk release motor on the trunk goes out? I also have had the trunk open and did the button in the door and the key with nothing happening. How to troubleshoot this?

Golf IV / Jetta IV :: Key Won't Fit The Trunk Or Back Seat Lock

I just purchased a used 01 Jetta GLS. It came with only 1 key and no fob. My key fits the door and ignition but does not seem to fit the trunk or the back seat lock that gives better access to the trunk. The fuel door switch works but the trunk release switch does not (no sound, haven't checked wires yet).

Golf IV / Jetta IV :: Trunk Latch Won't Open / Key Does Not Work At All?

My latch wont open at all! When i first bought the car the trunk would open but Im not sure what had happened to it. The key doesn't work at all but every time I press the button on my key too open it or from the button on the floor it makes the noise that it unlocked but its still shut??!!?! Maybe I thought it was the fuse but I had changed fuse 15 still nothing any body experienced this before seems too be a common problem. Should I just go through the front and take the panels off for the hatch and diagnose whats wrong with it?

Golf IV / Jetta IV :: Trunk Neither Opens Nor Shows Signal On Connector

I found trunk in 2003 GTi won't lock, and new actuator(motor) didn't, either. No signal on the connector when I press key fob switch, through rear light blink. I guess there would be another connector to this wire(green and blue) somewhere inside the passenger side C pillar.

Golf IV / Jetta IV :: Trunk Made A Slight Buzz While Opening

2004 Mk IV Jetta 2.0

I thought it was the trunk actuator, so I ordered a new one. I thought this because when I hit the button to open the trunk, I heard a slight buzz (not the sound of the actuator extending) but the arm didn't push out.

When I hooked up the new one to the wire to test it out the same thing happened. I also tested both actuators with a 9V battery and they worked correctly. So, it's not a problem with the actuator itself, and I don't think it's a problem with the wiring since there is at least enough power coming through to cause a buzzing noise...so I don't know what else it could be.

Golf IV / Jetta IV :: Inside Trunk Light Won't Work Even After Replacement?

I just noticed the trunk (inside) light was out. So I replaced it and it still doesn't work. I put a 'test light' on the pig tail and one side lights up so I guess there is power there. Once the' light holder' and lamp is in there it still doesn't work. Also when I put the 'test lamp' on one side of the metal holder the 'test light' lights up.

When I put it on the other side it makes the bulb almost glow like half voltage. What it could be? What is that resistor there for ?

Mk IV Jetta. Central locking works fine. All other CCM functions are fine. Replaced CCM recently serial numbers match. When I hit the switch on the door nothing at all happens. When I use the key button the lights flash twice but no other activity. No broken wires between the body and the trunk lid. Actuator works when tested with a 9v battery.

Golf IV / Jetta IV :: Aftermarket Radio Installation Lead To Trunk Light Lit Up

Installed aftermarket radio with no problems in 2006 Jetta. Ironically, now the trunk open light is lit on dashboard even though the trunk is definitely shut and the horn wont beep when locking with the keyfob although the doors do lock. I researched here and found some had to push their radio (oem radio) in a little bit to make contact with "microswitch?" and then horn worked..

Im not sure if its that car thinks trunk is open when it isn't or that it thinks the radio is stolen (when it clearly isnt, just an aftermarket) one and thus won't actually arm the alarm..........however, doors are locked, and red light blinks in the door as well as the exterior visual confirmation of alarm being on.

Golf IV / Jetta IV :: Trunk Won't Open Electrically With Button On Driver Side

My trunk doesn't seem to open electrically any more - that is, the button on the driver's side nor the button on the key fob will open the trunk. All I hear when I attempt either of these methods is a click near the fuse box. I do not hear the actuator at all. It worked intermittently for a few months, but now it seems to be completely dead. My google searches led me down two paths - either the actuator itself is broken or the wiring going from the latch to the actuator is messed up.

I removed the actuator from the trunk and tested it using a different power supply. It seems to work fine when I apply 12v through the leads. I also connected my multimeter to the connector that plugs into the actuator (the connector is hooked up to the wires coming from the front of the car). When I push the trunk button on my key, it spikes to 11v, then drops back to 0. To me, this indicates that there is no flaw in the wiring.

I even re-soldered the wires where it tends to kink on the drivers side in the trunk (It looks like they have been previously DIYed so I thought something may have come loose there), but that doesn't seem to have worked. As far as I can tell, the wires seem to be working fine by testing through the multimeter, and the actuator seems to be fine by testing from an alternate supply.
