Golf IV / Jetta IV :: Vibration On Driver Seat

42dd turboback ... Got it put on today and there is some pretty serious vibration on the driver seat. Why it's doing this? Or does it have to break in a bit

View 4 Replies I have done everything I can to figure it out. Over washboard (mainly) and other rougher roads I get a very loud vibration (not a rattle) of either plastic on metal or plastic on plastic. It sounds like its coming directly beneath or beside me and I even had my buddy drive with me in the back with my head under the seat to try and figure it out, because sometimes its quite loud. I just can't seem to locate the issue.
I checked loose bolts on the AMP, took the plastic cover off, felt around, grabbed everything, but I just don't know where its coming from.
It seems the drivers seat heater only works when turned all the way up. Could the switch be bad, or is there some kind of variable resistor that goes bad? Dunno where to start really.
View 4 RepliesI started to notice a slight vibration coming from my front end on the drivers side last week and now is pretty loud. It increases with acceleration, fades slightly when turning left, and goes away almost entirely when turning right. Tie rods seem fine. The inner and outer cv boots are torn but have been that way for some time.
View 4 RepliesSo I was trying to track down this squeak noise and I removed the drivers side seat belt but now the belt will not retract? It's stuck like this, is there a manual release? Buying another one is not a option right now. And I have to drive the car tomorrow morning.
View 1 RepliesStill haven't hit 1000 miles on this Prius v and continue to have issues. Tonight, when I shut the doors, especially the drivers side, there is a rapid vibration under the drivers seat, but outside under the car. Any door does it, but especially the drivers door. If I shut the door very softly, no vibration. It's loud and lasts maybe a second, vibrating the entire time. I drove down the road and back. Same problem. It has never done this. I see nothing loose underneath.
View 5 RepliesIt's getting worse - I've looked all over the place and can't find the source. None of the other seats do it.
View 24 RepliesI am figuring out a possibility how to lower the seat lower for those that are a bit taller?
View 8 RepliesI could find mentioned using a 4.7 ohm resistor to disable the airbags at the connector. I need to get my seat re-upholstered and the VW haus wants to charge me like 80 bucks, how can I do this for less money?
View 19 RepliesHere's the situation: Just crossed over 30k miles and the Driver's side seat does not heat up. The passenger seat does work, and gets pretty warm when turned up any further than 1.
I did some searching and found some general info about similar problems in other MkIV's, but nothing specific to the R32 seats. (The warranty was for 4 years/50,000 miles, which ever came first, and VWoA will not cover our seats under the MkIV Recall.) Here's what I've tried so far:
1. Swapped switches - No difference.
2. Checked the fuses and verified that I have power to the switches
I tried to check for power at the Green connector under the seats, but got nothing for either passenger or driver's side. What should I try next?
If I check the resistance of the element in the seat, which wires do I need to check? Is there another connector under the seat I should check?
My driver seat has been squeaking lately whenever I accelerate (at all - not just under hard acceleration). It seems to be any amount of g-force pushing directly backward causes it. I can reproduce it by just pushing back in to my seat when stopped and the engine is off too, so I know for certain it's the seat and not anything drive train or suspension related or anything else. I tried putting a little grease on the tracks that the seat slides fore/aft on, might have worked a tiny bit, but still there. Almost seems like something is loose... not sure. I might end up taking it by the dealer.
View 7 Repliesjust got a new Passat 2008, 6 MT, when I go on the freeway the passenger seat belt winding starts rattling, I have to buckle it for the rattling to stop. also, it seems like the passenger seat appears to be vibrating but the car itself is fine.
View 1 RepliesDriving around the other day I had a horrible buzzing rattle behind the drivers seat on my 2013 Golf R with 5000 miles on it. Come to find out when I open the rear door on the driver side I can grab the bottom cushion on the side that faces the door panel and it just lifts up 3 inches as if it is not connected. Is this a normal golf thing? I have never seen a cushion that was this loose in any new car in the past 10 years.
View 2 RepliesMy driver's seat has developed a popping sound when I move around, especially moving forward and back. It seems to be coming from the cushion in base of the seat or maybe down in the lower part of the seat back. I remember a thread a while back about this problem but I forgot what the diagnosis and solution was. I did a search but nothing came up, maybe I just used the wrong key words, I don't know.
View 24 RepliesI drive with the seat slider in the full back position. I'd like to gain another inch or so....just enough to where I'm not touching the rear seat. Not worried about rear passengers. How easy would it be to either reposition the seat anchor points or modify the seat itself to do this? Also, has anyone tilted the front of the seat up a little to give more thigh support? I was also thinking of shimming or otherwise raising the front half of the seat maybe 1/2 inch to give my legs a little more support.
View 22 RepliesMy drivers seat won't disengage from the track on the right side rail next to the console.
Looking for a shot from the manual before I take it apart?
After heavy rains there has been water on the floor behind the drivers seat or down by the pedals (depending on how the car is parked). Is this the result of a bad door seal? It definitely seems to be coming in around the door.
View 17 RepliesI have a 2-door gti that is relatively brand new. One thing I've noticed though is that the driver-side has a mechanical squeak/straining sound when I lean with some force in to the right side of the chair. I figured this was not normal, what it might be?
View 6 RepliesI have a 2012 2-door R with sunroof and navigation. Almost from the very beginning the driver's seat had a problem. It would not hold the position of the back. It would slowly keep going back. Over a couple of days of driving (less than 2 hours per day) I would have to adjust the back about a 1/4 turn of the wheel to get it back to the original position. I have taken it back to the dealer twice for this and they could not find anything obvious.
They said that they would need to take the seat apart in order to figure it out. According to them I am the first one with this issue they have heard of. I am debating if I should keep adjusting it every couple of days, or take the chance and let them take it apart, hoping that there will be no collateral damage in the process. How easy/difficult it is to get to the guts of the seat?
I just purchased a used 01 Jetta GLS. It came with only 1 key and no fob. My key fits the door and ignition but does not seem to fit the trunk or the back seat lock that gives better access to the trunk. The fuel door switch works but the trunk release switch does not (no sound, haven't checked wires yet).
View 11 RepliesI swapped my cloth seats for leathers today and the airbag light came on after... the seats were out of a 2000 golf, so I was expecting to have to splice wires, but, the connectors were the exact same on the cloth from my car and leathers from the donor car... so I just did a plug and play... I scanned with vcds and got these codes:
Address 15 -------------------------------------------------------
Controller: 1C0 909 605 A
Component: 1M AIRBAG VW51 02 0006
Coding: 12621
Shop #: WSC 00000
2 Faults Found:
00592 - Seat Belt Switch: Right (E25)
30-10 - Open or Short to B+ - Intermittent
01218 - Side Airbag Igniter: Passenger Side (N200)
32-10 - Resistance too High - Intermittent
I take it the passenger seat is the problem... I didn't clear the codes, I wanted to ask here first before I did if I need to do anything to connectors there or just the clear the codes?
