Golf IV / Jetta IV :: Turns Over But No Crank?

My car has been sitting for three days and I went to start it and it turns over but doesn't even try to fire. If i press the gas while it's turning over, it doesn't change at all. Do any of you know what could be causing that?
yes I searched and it turned back nothing, so if there is already a thread, could you point me in that direction?
Also, the car previously had a tick on start up for about 30 seconds and then it would disappear, that doesn't seem related to the no cranking thing to me though. The only other strange thing that happened was a week ago when the car dumped an unusual amount of smoke as if it blew a head gasket... but it didn't, and nothing has happened since then until now.
The car used to do frequent trips of 15 or 20 miles at a time every day but now it does 5 or 6 miles every few days and then 300 miles at 80mph each way once a month, so I don't know if the constant 3800 rpms on the long trips could be having some sort of affecting this

So i just recently purchased this car and about two weeks in I CEL turns on and the car just doesn't seem to drive like it did when i first brought it home. I don't know much about forced induction cars but the from watching the boost gauge, it seems to flutter when accelerating and just doesn't pick up like it should i feel. First thing I could think of is a boost leak but like I said, don't know anything about these cars.

I have a 120k miles manual 2000 jetta vr6 12v. I was having check engine issues so i put in a reader and showed me problems at catalytic converter. I don't remember the code, and no longer have a reader...
I was told to replace the oxygen sensors in both banks as well which i did.
I opened up catalytic converter to inspect and now the car will get no spark, the engine turns, and the display shows engine stop.
I was also told to put the oxygen sensor further away with an extension cord but not sure if that plays a part.
Does the catalytic converter is causing it to not spark?
Could there be an issue with maybe a sensor at the crankshaft that checks for motion?
What the starting sequence and dependencies are or what failures I could have that prevent the spark?

I have a weird problem. Sometimes when i slow down to make a turn or stop at a stop sign my car just dies...that's it...it just turns off...but i turn the key and it starts right back up...the weird part is that i've had the car for a year and it only does it about once a month??? I took it to the dealer and...big surprise...they said they couldn't find anything wrong with it...it doesn't turn off while I'm driving on the highway or anything...only does it when i slow down to make a sharp turn or when i stop at a stop sign and go again... I might just trade it in for an Audi A4. I have a 2001 Jetta 1.8t...

I have a 2001 Golf 1.8T and while driving the oil pressure light turns on and the meter goes beyond the midpoint. I brought it in to a shop and they told me I need to change the oil pump and will cost $900. They told me it's because I don't frequently change oil and once the new oil is in, it caused the problem and only way to drive the car again is to replace the oil pump.

I have a '99' 2.0 Golf. The engine turns over but it wont start. I bought new fuel pump and crank sensor. that still didn't fix the issues. I also am not getting any fault codes so I am really at a lost, when car died on me the engine stalled as if i missed the clutch, ever since i haven't been able to get it on, i also bought a new battery.

I just recently purchased a 2000 mk4 GTI and as stated above, the radio turns and all the buttons work but there is no sound. The amp in the back was removed and there are two clips that are not hooked up to anything. I am wondering if the radio needs the amp hooked up for it to work at all.

04 Gli 1.8t 6 speed. When I go to start my car and turn the key nothing happens . No clicking no cranking nothing. All my lights work radio works everything. Would a bad starter cause this? I can jump my car and it works fine.

I am having trouble with my car not starting, when turning the key nothing happens. I have replaced the battery and have even tried to push the car and do a rolling start could not get it going. I am assuming that if i can't do a rolling start that rules out the starter, is that correct? I also verified all fuses and changed the fuel pump relay.
I am leaning towards an electrical problem (ground/short circuit). I have a Bentley manual and VCDS tool, how to diagnose the electrical problem and pinpoint the issue.

So I have a no crank no start. All other electrics appear to be working . For the most part I just hear a soft click when I try and start. Doesn't sound like your normal solenoid clicking. New starter, 12v at battery , new ignition switch. It did this to me last month , started taking the ignition out then just only started before I could even get the new part in.
Changed it anyway. Seem to fix it. My next step is going to be to check the ground under the battery. Which I checked and cleaned up a little bit about eight months ago. After that I'll try and jump the starter and check the voltage going to the solenoid. I check the fuses last month when it did it to me and they all seem to be okay.

I recently replaced my driver side axle due to the inner CV joint boot being ripped. Its a 2001 Jetta VR6 with 173,000 miles on it and I have been driving it with a ripped boot for about a year and finally decided to replace the whole axle last night. I replaced it with an aftermarket axle (was on a budget) and the job was fairly easy. Since I did it late at night I was too tired to take it for a test drive so I waited until today. When I was driving it all was well until I took a right turn and I could hear a very distinct clicking sound coming from the driver side wheel well, it is constant throughout the turn.
The noise is only present when taking turns above 20mph and it sometimes even occurs when driving in a straight line. Take note that I have not had an alignment done yet since I had replaced the axle. The car is lowered about 2 inches on Raceland coil-overs that are pretty old and I think they are shot. But like I said the car has NEVER made this sound until I just recently replaced the axle. I am at a loss of what it could be and I am trying to sell the car currently so I would like to get this problem sorted out as soon as possible!

My friends car suddenly quit running while he was on a trip, he went through the carwash and as he pulled out the car died. He had it towed to a shop and they charged him $400 to run a few tests and replace the fuel pump relay thinking it would fix the problem, obviously didn't or i wouldn't be typing this. At this point the car cranks but won't start.
This is what the sheet from the shop says, "retest through PCM to locate problem. Ran diagnostics per flow chart. all power, grounds and G28 engine speed spensor output to ECM test good excepting pin T121/86, wire color Lilac/yellow. Signal between camshaft position sensor to ecm. No voltage signal recommend replace PCM and RETEST."
I've put a used ecm (ecu? i've read both terms used) in and the car cranks, starts, gets to idle and dies. If i give it gas after it starts it'll rev up once, then die. I'll call it progress, but i want this damn car out of my driveway.

So I bought a 2004 Jetta with the 2.0 engine yesterday. I got the car pretty cheap and was told that the issue with the A/C was because it was low on freon. I've never owned a Volkswagen before, but I assume A/C units are all similar. So I go to put in some freon into the low end of unit. I get about half of a 12 oz can or so in and I hear a loud Psst or shooting of the propellant. I look down and it looks like the the side of the compressor shot the oil filter with the coolant. I'm not sure if I sprung a leak of if it was just a valve that releases when there is too much pressure. I've only driven it for about 10-20 mins since and I can still occasionally hear the Psst sound. It is 96 degrees in my area if that makes a difference or not?
Some other information, I noticed that the compressor kicks on, but only for like a second or two and then it shuts off for about 15 seconds or so and then repeats itself. What could be wrong?

2001 Jetta 1.8T wolfsburg
When I start my car the ASR light is already on and I cannot turn it off by hitting the button. It's just permanently on. Then as I start to drive and step on the throttle and get above 3000rpm the ECP light turns on and my car goes into "limp mode". Then in idle the engine stutters and RPMs go up and down, up and down. I'll turn off the car and the ECP light disappears but comes right back on again after getting above 3000rpm.
Thing is, these issues only appeared immediately after the following:
-Disconnected and reconnected CCM (checking for faulty wiring, battery was connected during this)
-Disconnected battery terminals for 3 minutes and reconnected them (no key in ignition)
Did I cause an issue by disconnecting battery?

I just got my timing belt replaced by my mobile mechanic thats been doing it for years. I saw him do the work and get the timing right. When he was done the car turned on and ran perfect. After about a minute the car just shuts off. Now the car won't start at all. The car turns over but no start. The car ran perfectly before I had this job done.

My ac stopped blowing cold. The compressor turns on when I turn the ac on. When I pressure tested the low line port, it showed it was too high to add any recharge. 2001 jetta wolfsburg 1.8t....

Was driving just a few hundred feet up the road to local mini mart. On the way home after pulling out of the shop, my battery light flickered once and twice before staying on. I circled around the block to see if it would go away, but it was still on when I parked in my driveway. I noticed a ticking noise in the engine bay, but decided to turn it off.
About 10 minutes later, I turned the car back on. Battery light still on, noise still evident in the bay. I popped the hood and it's coming by the serpentine belt. That seemed to be running fine over there and couldn't see anything that looked out of the ordinary. I went in the car to rev up the engine a bit and turn on my lights, and that's when the symptoms got weirder. My RPMs jumped to about 1,000 and stayed there (even when I let on the gas a bit); my blowers would work (but not the screen showing the temp); CD player turned off; and I got a cluster full of lights on my dash. The car would idol rough when turning lights on and off.
It eventually shut off, and now there is no crank or nothing. All lights still work, alarm works, but no turn over or clicking. I'm going to try and get it jumped when able to, but I'm not sure what the problem could be. I can't find the exact paperwork, but I had the alternator replaced at around 85,000 miles.

So i had my starter crap out on me the other day, it destroyed its self in good fashion. So i replaced it thinking that was going to be the only problem, but once i replaced the starter it STILL wouldn't start. the starter spins, but doesn't engage the flywheel. I can start the car with a bump start no problem...
Things I have done:
- Replaced the battery - 660CCA AcDelco
- Replaced the Ground wires, and positive, with new 1 gauge wire, and cleaned the connections.
- Replaced the starter A new one from acdelco, and a Used one (that was in working order)
Getting 13-13.5 volts while running.
Signal wire is fine, as I've tested the starter by completely bypassing it and just jumping straight from the Batter, still the same situation.
My only thought has been.. is it feasible that the starter may have destroyed a couple of teeth on the flywheel.... so when i goto engage the starter it might go for a quarter revolution and then find the location with the missing teeth and just spin ?
