I have a touchscreen that the dealership provided me but with the catch that I've got to install it myself, pretty sure it has something to do with the state the previous stereo was taken out, all I'm left with are a cluster of wires none of which I know are for what.

View 7 RepliesI just installed an Alpine deck (single-din) in my 2002 VW Golf 2.0. When pulling out the factory deck, there are two wiring harnesses. One for the stereo itself, the other for the alarm.
The replacement deck doesn't have alarm settings. Question, after installing - I didn't connect the alarm to anything, just left it but now its disabled!! Is there a way to rewire so the alarm still functions without the stock stereo?
I have an 03 golf with the double din tape/cd player and what appears to be an amplifier in the hatch on the drivers side.
While driving to work on monday it just suddenly got silent mid song. I tried changing the station and popping a cd in and nothing....
Also have tried turning it on/off... Anything else I can do? The deck functions normally but makes no noise.
2002 VW golf with monsoon radio, 150,000miles. Was driving, volume went out and smoke came out of tape player. next day battery was dead. had car jump started and battery was dead by end of day. tried to jump start again but battery did not charge. took to mechanic and said it was bad battery. battery replaced and car worked fine for 2 days (stereo still dead). car didnt start on 3rd day, mechanic now says alternator is fine but car had multiple short circuits and need new dashboard and other parts. looking at over $1100 in repairs, asked if i could just unplug stereo and run car and he said no. am I better off junking this car?
View 5 RepliesToyota corolla 2013 automatic gear reverse lights don't work after I installed new stereo it's my fault i shorted 12v positive backup (reverse) light trigger camera stereo v12+ cable to ground while backup (gear R) in place. As a result reserve lights don't work beside gear indicator doesn't show on main screen. I can drive without problem but problem still intact.
I checked all fuses and they are all okay I need to identify problem or possible repair too I only find 2 fuses behind glove box i think they call "instrument panel" there are bunch of cable and underneath of cables there is only 2 rectangle shape fuses I could not see anything else, the other fuse box is in engine compartment i thoroughly tested each small fuses they are all okay is there anything else i forgot to check ?

I finished installing an auto out of a 1999 beetle into my 2000 golf. I used the beetle TCM now it wont shift out of 3rd. If I manually start in first it will shift up to 3rd but nothing past 3rd. I had it scanned with a generic scanner and these are the codes. P1780, P1783, P0725. I researched the heck out of this and I'm not sure what to do. Do I need to take it and have a vag com hooked up to make sure the ecm and the new tcm are talking? It seems others have had these issues and I thought it might be solenoids but that's not what's coming up.
View 2 RepliesOkay just installed a newer 24v into my existing 24v VR6 GTI both with 135k. I have heard the motor run before it was pulled and sold to which sounded fine. Upon receiving the motor I put new timing chains, guides, headgasket and new gaskets all around. The timing was right on the mark and I tightened everything up to torque spec and I'm getting this noise which sounds like it's from the timing cover area. A code just popped on which I'm going to scan as soon as I get my hands on one. The car was running great for about 20 minute and I shut it off then turned it back on about 5 minutes later and experiencing these scary noises. I tried pulling each individual coil with no results to get the noise away. What could this be?

99 Jetta, installed a new AC compressor a month ago, has been working great, not clutch will engage for a few moments, then turn off for a minute, then engage again. Seems, like there is Freon in there by the gauge on the low side.
View 4 RepliesLast Saturday, my mechanic friend and I spent the day installing WRD coils on my 2003 Wolfsburg edition Jetta. Took us longer than we thought but we got it all done and we set them at 3/4 max for lowness. I don't want to go any lower and I will probably raise a little bit soon.
Anyways, when I started driving I noticed a rear clunking sound, it's especially noticeable at slower speeds. Every single tiny little bump and sounds like someone is dropping boxes in my trunk. I checked my trunk and took everything out and that still didn't work. When my car is stationary and I get out and push on the rear to test the shocks I hear the sound.
Just today I noticed my car boosting to around 1.2bar instead of the usual 1.4bar. The car is boosting to around 1.2 then dropping off to around a bar.
The only thing that I did was install a forge splitter. I presumed that the splitter valve was the issue and promptly put my 007p back on but still had the same issue.
During the process of adjusting the splitter valve I got limp mode several times. I much prefer the 007p and will be keeping that and selling the splitter. What may have happened?
After installing a new crank position sensor on my 05 GTI 1.8T would I have to recalibrate my ECM, my car will not start.
View 2 RepliesSo the other day I replaced my N75 valve and upgraded my DV to the Forge 007. For some reason the turbo doesn't spool like it did before, it's lost it's pep.
I've tried the Yellow and Green springs, also I tried them with the shim too. No luck. The car got turbo back exhaust, intake, and stage one program.
I recently installed a k04 turbo, when I try and accelerate hard my wastegate just seems to open up very quickly without building much boost. I don't have a boost gauge or anything like that installed. Do I start by adjusting the wastegate actuator, or install MBC. Pretty new to this still.

View 13 RepliesOn my way to work this morning guy pulled a left turn from a side street while I was in the rightmost lane. He pulled wide and forced me off the road. In dogging him, I hit the curb, went up on both wheels. Did not catch his plate (I go to work at 5AM, it was very dark and I was distracted because my car would not drive straight). I noticed I had to turn my wheel 35 degrees to the left to keep the car going straight.
All said, they are at 2k already on the estimate to replace most of my front right suspension and wheel. Probably going to replace the back one too. They have not even taken the thing apart yet. The only good news is my deductible is only 500 bucks and there was no cosmetic damage.
i just got my edelbrock performer rpm intake and my holley 4 barrel installed but it won't run...the only way i can get it to hit and run at all is to floor it like it's flooded...then it'll run for a second but will never rev up and get going like it should...so i watched some vids on youtube for setting mixture on holley's wich i was pretty sure about anyway...turned the idle mixture screws in to snug and then out 1 and a half turns. is this a symptom of a bad vacuum leak or is it something to do with the carb maybe not enough fuel?
it's a holley 4160...list-6619...which is 600 cfm...it's on a 302 with 3 speed.
Stereo started to get bad static last night eventually died so all I heard coming from the speakers was static and popping type noise. Once I got home from work alarmed the car and noticed no honk when I alarmed it. I disconnected the connections to the amp in the trunk and pushed on the stereo to make sure it was secure. Left for work this morning had sound for about 20min then it went out completely again and still no honk when alarming car at work? Could it be a sign of a dying battery?

View 24 RepliesThis morning I'm heading to work and noticed that my local radio station was broadcasting WAAAAYYYYY too much bass. It sounded like I had turned up the bass all the way and turned everything else down. The volume level was reasonable, but the bass was rattling the doors and causing distortion as if the volume was all the way up.
I changed the station and it seemed better when I came back, so I just thought it was a glitch at the radio station. Then it started again. I tried all other means of playing music and they were all affected. Just to see what would happen, I shut off the engine at a light and started it back up. This seems to have corrected the problem. Now I'm nervous though. This is the sort of random malfunction that made me hesitant to buy German.
My car is a 2011 4dr GTI w/autobahn package.
I just got my R road worthy again after sitting in the barracks parking lot... or at least i thought! coming off post as i merge on to autobahn 299 i get on it a little, and this is where my problems start. First thing that happens is the battery light comes on. I pull over to give it he once over and make sure it was good and there was nothing wrong.
When i started the car it went away but shortly returned so i continued on my way thinking that i must be a fuse. On the ride out i notice the sound from my stereo wasn't quite as loud and my subs weren't hitting but maybe every few beets (battery light still on) so i just shut off the radio and when i park i notice that the idle is kicked up about 1100 and not going down even with the ac and other accessories off.
I say screw it and UN-plug my new amp that i put in earlier in the day and my world effectively goes from containable to catastrophic. I turn the car back on, idle goes back up and now i have multiple lights on my dash.... ECU, Air bag, ABS, battery(still),and check engine. As I'm trying to figure out what to do the headlights stat to dim and so does the dash lights as the car starts to sputter for life. I was stuck in some German bus station parking lot for 4 hrs till i got a ride home... i am thinking that it might be the alternator but i hope its the coil packs.
