I pulled the TFL pin from the back of the harness plug that goes to the headlight switch (Euro one at that) but not only did it kill the all the dash, console, switch light, but the DRLs stayed. Pin was the 3rd one from the left on the top row if you look at the harness plug as it sits in the car. Thicker gauge red wire.
This is a 2003 Wolfsburg Jetta.
So I know these posts a a dime a dozen but unlike most i know what did to cause the lights to go out.
I unplugged the dimmer switch harness and headlight switch harness to clean the air vents. When i plugged everything back in, none of the red or blue backlighting turns on when i turn the headlight switch. The instrument cluster and all the trim remains dark.
At first my turn signals were not working but they have begun working again. headlights and break lights all work. and my interior dome lights work.
I checked every fuse i could think of that would relate to the interior lighting and everything looks fine there. is there something else i can check?
If I have the switch set for the lights to turn on when I open the doors, they don't turn off when the doors are shut they just stay on all of the time. Also, sometimes they don't work at all and sometimes they do. My 12v outlet doesn't work either but I am guessing it's the fuse..

View 4 RepliesWhen I open the driver's door, the car does not register that the door is open: the dome light and other interior lights don't come on, the red alert light inside the door itself doesn't come on, and sometimes my alarm will go off when I start the car because it does not know that the door has been activated properly. When the passenger door is open, all the lights function properly. I'm thinking this is a fuse? Hopefully a simple fix?

I just got an LED interior kit, but haven't got it in the mail yet, so it is still on the stock bulbs from the factory, is it a dual filament bulb that just needs replacing?
Ok today I was driving my 2004 Gli n noticed when I flash my high beams (pull them back for temporary lights) my interior lights come on. When I release the high beams the lights go back off. I know this isn't normal n wanna fix it.
View 8 RepliesAbout 4 months ago I was at the gas station and when I tried opening my fuel door, the switch wasn't working. I went home, took the door trim off, and then removed the switch in order to clean it. Once I cleaned it, it worked but about every 3rd time that I clicked it. However, yesterday it finally gave out as I was at the gas station. So I came home and now I'm stuck because I don't want to break the fuel door.
I ran through the fuses in the fuse box but on the diagram none seem to be for the fuel door. The weird thing is that yesterday as the fuel door switch gave out, so did the interior door lock switch. Now I have to insert the key from the outside in order to enter the car. But the key cannot unlock the passenger door.
When I hit the interior door lock switch, I hear a click noise under the dash. I took a look under there and it seems to be a bunch of relays. It's very tough to tell which one is the one clicking.
Before I changed my driver's lock module, when I removed my key and opened the door, the car would still have power to close the sunroof and windows, but now with the new module once I open the door the power's all off. I have to resort to everything closing when I lock the car (KVW100).
Why this is happening and how I can revert to being able to close the windows without having to leave the key in? Not that it's a huge issue; just felt it was a nicer convenience how it used to be.
Noticed this afternoon that as it got dark outside, all dash and door lights aren't working.
The gauge cluster lights, VERY dimly, but delays by appx 2 seconds before coming on? Only switch light that still works right is the Red ring on the Headlight switch.
Again this is all lights, except lights in headliner work fine, gauge cluster lights very dimly with a delay?
So I just got a new car tonight (01 Jetta 1.8t) traded my tdi for it. They failed to tell me about the lighting problem. The dash light (blue ones that light up whole dash) only work sometimes. Don't work when headlight switch is on (have euro switch) but they will work sometimes if you put the left blinker or hazard lights on. Illumination for window / lock controls are glowing red, same as all the buttons by the vents up top of the radio, ac / climate control lights not working. They did end up telling me that they swapped the other car they had (2L golf mk4) and they swapped in that dash and it worked no issues. Do I need a whole new cluster?? Or is there something I can try to fix it?

View 6 RepliesI decided to put white LED lights in my map light(the front 2 light) and after I put on the bulb I turn the light on and all my interior light including my dome light went off. My car clicker the trunk, alarm, door lock, and unlock doesn't work either so how do I fix. I don't know if I blew a fuse and I can't check as I don't have my car manual.
View 11 RepliesI just got my 2013 Elantra in Pearl White GLS Preferred Package about a month ago, and since then the interior lights fuse has blown twice. The first time I took it back to the dealer and they replaced a fuse. It then worked for about a week or so and they're out again. Also, the passenger fog lamp keeps just blowing bulbs.

Stupidly I took metal pliers and bent the connectors a little closer to each other. And now the interior lights don't work =.=
Could the metal pliers on the metal connectors have blown a fuse or something?
So I was trying to track down this squeak noise and I removed the drivers side seat belt but now the belt will not retract? It's stuck like this, is there a manual release? Buying another one is not a option right now. And I have to drive the car tomorrow morning.

View 4 RepliesI installed my dome light, map light, and rear license plate LEDs with no problem a couple of months ago. When my LEDs for the vanity lights came in today, I immediately went to install them. The first one on the driver's side was installed without a hitch, but after I installed the second one on the passenger side, none of the interior lights worked. The only difference in installation I can think of is that I disconnected the light on the passenger side as opposed to keeping it plugged in on the driver's side.
View 6 RepliesAll of my interior lights went out. Except for dome lights etc. Here's a more detailed description. Every light effected by the dimmer on the left side near the ECS button don't work. I'm assuming it's a fuse.
Cluster gauges still work fine. The lights just don't work.
Note: Both headlights are out so I don't know if that could be connected in some way. Haven't been able to change them yet.
So, which fuse this would be? I can't seem to find it. Or if it could even be a fuse?
I have a 2003 accent and i no longer have interior lights or a door chime working..
I did have a electrician friend change out my hatch last week and pretty sure he shorted out the fuse. I can't seem to see what fuse it would be all seem good
From me checking around i am lead to belive the it could be (shunt connector, memory fuse, power connector, joint connector m31) multiple names for the same thing.
How would i check this? How is it removed?
One of my interior bulbs had blown and all of the others was still working ! I replacement the blown bulb and now none of the work!!
I've had a look thought the manual and cannot find a fuse for this, how to sort this.
