I have a leak in my rear wiper fluid line on my GTI. When I use the rear washer, I get a pool of fluid in the driver side taillight and under the rear seats. I'm getting some fluid in the rear driver side headliner as well so the break must be there. First step is to pull the headliner.

I have the 2011 Touareg Hybrid and having a problem with the rear wiper. (Hybrid, TDI, or V6) I have 2 issues:
- Issue 1 : The rear wiper is leaking fluid and it drips down onto the tailgate and leaves a stain. (See photo) The first time i noticed this I have the wipers in the auto sensing mode. It has not rained any, but I thought it was possibly activating. After washing vehicle, I turned off the the auto sensing and it has not rained at all nor have I used the wiper for anything. It did it again. I have informed my service advisor at VW and they are going to look at it next time I take it in.
- Issue 2 : My dealer and I have narrowed this down to be only on the Hybrid. The rear wiper does not lift up. Meaning I cannot pull the wiper out at all for cleaning and washing vehicle. When I got my hybrid, I could do that. However, there is a cap at the end covering the spray holes. We had to push the cap down further to where the holes in the cap lined up with where the water shoots out. This appears to be the correct position for the cap, but it now prevents you from being able to raise the wiper. You can also see the cap in the photo.
2001 GTI VR6. 82,000mi and it has some issues. Right now, the wiper fluid doesn't function but the tank is full of fluid, I found a wire cluster with a clip that wasn't even hooked up. Problem, I don't know where to connect it.

It looks like I barely even have enough room to cut out the damage and be able to replace it with new wiring. is there any kind of product where I could just replace an entire section or no
View 1 RepliesWhen temperature is lower than 15 degrees windshield wiper fluid freezes in supply line or squirter. Is this because of the cover at top of inside of the hood? Does that cover prevent engine heat keeping the system operable at lower temperatures. We need this system operable in the mountains of CO where ice melt is spread on the roads.

Starting a few days ago, I noticed a wet spot underneath the front-right of the car.
Turns out, I'm losing wiper fluid. I fill it up to the top, watch it for several minutes.. it doesn't move. Pull off, come back 5 minutes later and I've lost nearly half the tank... so it's leaking, or at least leaking worse when the car runs by way of something calling for it or the movement of the car.
The rear wiper on my wife's 20th stopped working the other day. I checked the fuse and it was fine. I pulled off the rear panel and got to the wiring. I don't have a Bentley so I'm not sure what wire does what. I tested the wires and the far left is a switch 12V and the far right is the ground. The center two didn't show any voltage with or without the wiper on. When should these wire see power? What else should I check?
View 16 RepliesI have an 04 GLI 1.8T 6speed. It is very clear to me that the car has some hydraulic issues. I can't leave the clutch in for more than 10 seconds or it stays on the floor and I have to pull it back up with my foot. So what does this mean? (Besides the fact that I'm a double clutch king now) I couldn't wrap my head around why this was happening and thought at first it may have something to do with a hole in the Slave Cylinder that is allowing air into the lines. Neither confirmed nor denied yet.
My other problem I have is that my car is losing brake fluid at about a quart every 3 weeks. I'm no expert but that is alarmingly fast, and it is getting worse by the month. When driving I get the error message of STOP and my brake light flashes, which is how I know it is low. I can't locate the leak but I do see a drip coming from somewhere behind the drivers side front tire, relatively close to the firewall. I don't know if I have a broken brake fluid line that is dripping down, or if something else could be broken that is causing the leak.
I have a 2003 Golf GTI VR6. Over probably a year, my rear wiper began working only intermittently. Eventually it stopped working at all. Based on lotsa googling, here's the troubleshooting I've done so far to investigate:
1. Pushed the stalk forward, listened for relay *tick* sound. I didn't hear the tick. Wiper doesn't move.
2. Went outside the car and didn't hear any sounds coming from the wiper motor.
3. Pushed stalk all the way forward, rear wiper washer was activated and works fine. Wiper doesn't move.
4. Checked wiper fuses. No indication of blown fuse.
5. Pulled the relay and inspected. No burn marks or loose wires.
6. Ran voltage through the relay and relay opens and closes without issue.
From what I've read, the fact that the relay appears to work fine in tests but doesn't work in the car suggests either the stalk or a wiring harness failure. I've also read washer fluid can leak in to the motor and cause it to stop working, but that seemed like a less likely cause. What do you all think?
Rear wiper stays on regardless of switch position. It runs as if the switch was on - intermittently. No critters chewing, Stops with the fuse pulled. We get lots of snow and I need it, rain-x won't cut it. It has 80k on the clock and everything works perfectly. the wiper homes between runs. Disconnected the battery for 5 mins for fun. Is this switch prone to this kind of failure?
View 1 RepliesWeird issue on my MK4 GTI. So it started out just as the rear windshield sprayer would work intermittently. Then the same happened to the front one. Then sometimes the rear windshield wiper would just come on by itself when hitting bumps on the highway. Now sometimes the front windshield wipers won't work, the rear doesn't work at all, and neither sprayers work.
So, where's best to start? I figured maybe the toggle switch is worn out. I haven't looked to see how hard it is to get out/test. I assume there's some linkage or wires I can get to once I remove the trim under the steering wheel to do a simple continuity test and see if the switch is working. Or would relays cause this? I wouldn't think that many relays could fail this quickly while running at normal voltages...
This line is rusted out on my V10 and leaking fluid.
How hard/expensive is this to fix?
I'm in the middle of doing my exhaust manifolds right now, so I'm hoping it's a simple bolt-on fix.
My auto dimming mirror is leaking fluid internally and is super dark, If i remove the mirror and cut the wires, will a normal mirror mount on the auto dimming base? I always use a Broadway mirror, but the mount sucks and the mirror always tilts down..
So question is will the normal mirror fit on the auto dimming base (ball) or should i just use some electrical tape on the ball the prevent it from falling?
Was bleeding my brakes and clutch. Using a power bleeder and it seems as though I put a little too much pressure into the system. The Slave cylinder's green rubber boot filled with brake fluid and began leaking a little. Did I blow a seal? Is this normal with pressure like that? I feel like pushing the clutch in would give more pressure than my little hand pump gives...

View 5 RepliesSo I had a stuck caliper on the driver rear side. I pushed the piston back and checked everything to make sure all was in working order. After some though and reading about the calipers getting stuck which old brake lines, I decided to upgrade the line with the Russell stainless steal lines.
I got all the lines put in but I seem to have fluid leaking on the passenger side fitting which I can't seem to get to stop. I put the old line back in but it is still leaking. I am not sure what I need to do or check to get it to stop. It seems to be leaking from the thread area. I checked the fittings and they don't look cross threaded so I don't understand why it may be happening.
So my rear wiper works, but I can get no washer fluid to come out. Yes, I filled it properly. Is there a separate pump for the rear? a separate fuse? is it clogged?

I've followed the instructions in the manual for using the rear wiper, but very time I turn the wiper on it sprays the window with washing fluid. I don't need washer fluid sprayed on the window if the window is already wet from rain.
