I replaced the rear brakes on my 2003 Jetta 2.0. Reman. Calipers, new pads and rotors.
I bleed the rear right and then the rear left. Have full pressure in the pedal but the disc in grinding at low speeds and when I apply the brakes the rear wheels almost lock up.
My rear middle seat belt is "locked" -it can't be pulled out or retracted. Is there a way of fixing it /releasing it?
Are the sedan seats(tops) interchangeable- will they work in a wagon? This is my Plan B if I can't get my current belt to work
I have a '99 S70 (Front wheel drive) Volvo. I went to drive it and the rear tires are locked into place and do not turn!
View 2 RepliesSubaru released a TSB about the rear output bearing locking up if the gear oil in the transmission gets too low. This seems to have happened to me last week when I did a 70mph 360 on the freeway and went in the ditch.After dragging it on and off the tow truck twice, the rear wheels came loose. It was almost 3 quarts low on gear oil, so i filled it up and drove it home.There is a severe leak from the rear output seal, which is cracked. Looking at the pictures, it seems the driveshaft got hot and locked up inside the extension housing, and not the bearing (which is farther inside the housing.) My question is, can I sand the burr off the driveshaft, replace the seal, and call it good? Or, should I pull the transmission apart and replace the bearings?
View 16 RepliesI normally open my Jetta with the key, as apparently the "remote" works on all doors but the driver's one. I will fix it at some point; anyway, what really disturbs me, is that all the doors get locked after a short time I start driving and stay closed even when I stop and turn off the engine. It's very inconvenient because I normally always put something I need to reach on the back seats etc. Can this behavior be changed? Do I have some options?
View 9 RepliesSo I have a 2.0L jetta with 160,000ish (daily driven) miles. And I'm starting to see a bit of a shifting issue mostly into third. Seems like I get locked out of the gear while shifting from second to third. I have to push it in(catches the "lock out") then I pull back and push forward again and it pops in. I rarely miss gears or grind. And I've noticed only a few times it does it in fourth as well. No grinding (unless I try to force it super hard) just won't let me go into gear.
Also while on subject of gear issues...
When I go into reverse, after the car has been sitting over night or for a longer period ( I would say between 8-14 hours) it will act up, almost like I am trying to drive with the parking brake fully engaged. In order to make it stop such bad behavior I have to rev it higher and it makes a *pop* or *crack* noise. Then it reverses just fine.
I've done a little bit of searching, "Look for a binding in the engine bay" and I have looked and haven't found much.
I had to do some work on the car which required disconnecting the battery, Usually the radio goes into safe mode which I unlock using the 4 digit code. However this time i entered the wrong code and the radio went into 02 safe mode?? Now the radio is not responding at all to any inputs from the buttons, its literally locked. I have disconnected the battery again and left it for a bit hoping it would clear it but no luck it still says 02 safe and I can't enter the code to unlock it.

I have a pair of Santa Monica rims on a 2002 2.0l jetta and the ones in the front just don't fit perfectly. The hub seems to not come far out enough for them to stay on it and my steering wheel starts to shake at around 60 mph. I currently have the wheels off for winter but I'd like to know what to do before spring rolls in.
View 3 RepliesOk so I don't really use the back seats too often but on a carpool ride one of my friends whos riding in the back mentions that the armrest/tray wont come down. Im like WTF so when I get home I realize it really is stuck and im trying to find a way to fix it to no avail. Is there something really simple that I am not seeing or is it really broken?

View 12 Repliesso I am coming up my driveway with about 4 inches of snow.... with TC on... and it bogged and stopped.... soi was like huh.... lets put this bitch to the test... so I put it back in gear, and it bogged and stalled..... so I am stuck... I live up a pretty steep hill and I have the Haldex mod.. but it seems that the rear wheels aren't spinning in both TC mode and non-TC.
View 24 RepliesI noticed a few days ago that when I back out of my driveway, or any time I go in reverse, when i turn, either direction, it feels lime my rear wheels are skidding across the pavement. Now I know that can't be happening because it hasn't always acted that way and it's just illogical. But what it could be, cv joint? Do I have any in the rear.

View 8 RepliesThis is kind of an odd ball problem since I have not encountered this before, but every time I turn my wheels full left or full right and start moving a really high pitched squeaking sound comes from the front of the car. Is it bad alignment or wear sensors on the brake pads rubbing? the brakes have a lot of pad left so i find that hard to believe.
View 5 RepliesMy son has a 2003 Super Duty with auto locks, but the front wheels won't lock even when turn to locked position. Also when it's in two wheel drive the front drive shaft and axles still spin, are the hubs locked up or is it in the transfer case?

View 11 RepliesI Have had my 99.5 jetta for 4 years now, car drives straight, no tire wear issues, but from day one I have noticed by looking in the wheel wells of both rear tires that the r/s rear is set back further than the l/s rear, l/s rear looks centered in the wheel wheel and the r/s rear looks to be back further and not centered, no evidence of any rear damage from a previous owner, car drives straight as an arrow , I'm stumped, all four tires have worn even in the past 3 years.
View 1 RepliesI am having a problem with one door lock on my Golf. The problem is with the left rear door. There are no issues unlocking it using either the fob or the driver door button. It also locks using the driver door. However, it does not lock using the fob.
