I have an 03 GLI and am having a little issue. My passenger front door won't latch. The tumbler, for lack of a better word, is in the proper position and swings freely; but it never catches. If I use a screwdriver I can push it all the way back; but there's not so much as a click when it gets all the way back and just swings back out.

Any way I can remove the super glue? I will provide a picture to illustrate. it can neither open inside or outside. [IMG][/IMG]......
View 1 RepliesSo I have an 03 wolfsburg, when my car is on and I open either the front driver or front passenger door the lights on the interior don't come on. Is this normal? I could have sworn they did before and on my 01 1.8t GLS, but if I open the any of the rear doors the lights come on...
I just got an LED interior kit, but haven't got it in the mail yet, so it is still on the stock bulbs from the factory, is it a dual filament bulb that just needs replacing?
I am replacing my front passenger side door on my 2000 Jetta GLX. I have been searching online for detailed instructions on how to do this, but have turned up empty handed.

View 2 RepliesI hear the electrical activity of the door lock mechanism.....locking and unlocking the door but the door latch is "frozen" closed and will not release. Inner and/or exterior door handles fail to release the latch no matter how many times they are pulled. Red Led on the top of the door pannel functions normally.
View 4 RepliesCannot open trunk with remote or switch inside driver's door. Key entry at rear fine. Have checked all fuses. Also, front passenger window will go down with one push of switch but requires constant pull to close. Was working fine. Any connections?
View 1 RepliesAfter being all over the map, MK4 to MK5 to MK6 to Corrado to MK2 to MK6 and now back to the MK4 I am back! Long ago, almost 10 years I built a 2001 GTI VR6 turbo that I absolutely loved, but college funds forced that sale. Driving just about everything I have always wanted another 12v to play with, but they are getting harder to find that are not totally molested.
Anyways, I came across a 2001 Jetta VR6, one owner car, 100% un touched, all maintenance records, and only 79,000 miles! I had to buy it. Only a couple minor dings in the passenger door I will mend out down the road, otherwise the car is darn near mint condition.

I just noticed on my front passenger door, when I pull the handle, the top of the door is rubbing against the rubber. It seems to be shifted a little down, especially on the top left corner of the door. What's going on with it. Doesn't open as smooth as the door once did.
View 6 RepliesMy MK4 golf has the rear passenger door shut, cannot be opened from inside or out. The outside handle has no tension, just floppy.
I managed to take the card off, even though I cannot open the door.
So my issue is if I keep dismantling til I get to the door lock, is there any simple way to open the door ? I've seen lots where people can change the lock if the door opens but can it be opened if the door is closed or do I somehow have to smash the lock ?
I notice the door rattles a lot now, more noticeably over bumps. Also, I don't really turn my music that loud, but when it is I can hear the rattle as well. Any quick fixs for this? Or would it be easier to get the dealer to try to fix this during my 5000 mile maintenance?
View 6 RepliesSo I've had a gremlin in the front door of my wife's grey Mk6 GTI since we got it. I took it to the VW dealership only for them not to fix it. The door panel sits on the woofer in the bottom of the door and it sort of sounds like the speaker is blown, but if you pull out on the panel pocket the sound goes away so I'm pretty sure that it's the panel and not the speaker. I attempted to take off the panel and didn't read up on it first so I broke the pocket (like a friggen moron). Now I both need to problem solve the sounding speaker but also find a replacement door panel. I live in Severn, MD.
View 4 Replies About 2 or so weeks ago, I picked up an .:R for a STEAL! I don't have all that much to complain about (because let's face it, it's an R32 ...) but I have noticed a few issues with it that I am hoping are related.
During one car ride I needed to charge my phone, but unfortunately the 12v port doesn't work (I checked all of the side panel fuses and even changed the whole jack, nothing). Another issue that I noticed, was that the passenger door lock intermittently works... sometimes it will work, and other times I have to unlock the door by opening it from the inside. On those freak occasions when it does work, than the driver's door lock won't work... That being irritating in itself, tonight I went to pop the hatch, and it wouldn't unlock! I had to put the key in to open it... that was the first time that I had encountered this issue...
My question is, could all of these issues be related somehow? I highly doubt that all of the lock modules are faulty.The PO did have a record about having the issue checked by the dealership, but they couldn't recreate it.
As the title states, my alarm horn chirps when opening the unlocked passenger door in my '03 Golf. Asked the master tech about it and we sat there scratching our heads for a while. Nothing he's ever seen or heard before. What set of conditions would create this?

View 3 RepliesI've got a "clunk" in my front passenger side suspension. I'm running stock struts with H&R sport springs that I put in about 10,000-15,000kms ago. The clunk is inconsistent and seems to only happen in the parking lot when I'm backing out of a stall. When I pull forward, I get a couple clunks coming from that side? Could this be tie-rod?

Well I went to spin the passenger side wheel and I noticed that I can tilt it back and forth slightly, I checked the other side and couldn't do the same thing. I just got both wheel bearings replaced by a shop and I'm hoping its not the hub. This is just a CV joint or bushings or if it's actually the hub???
I am on my 3rd GTI, a 2013 GTI Autobahn, came out of 2011 GTI Sunroof/conv model. I have various rattling noises in this car. The sunglasses holder rattles all the time especially when i am listening to music with a little bass, the roof rattles a bit but that seems to go away if i close the sunroof shade, also my front passenger door rattles.
View 22 RepliesI drive a mk4 GTI 2004 Stage 1 software. Just got home from being at sea for the last three months and my hood latch won't open. It pops exposing the tab, but the safety lock won't release the hood. I tried putting my hand in and pulling the the mech that the latch attaches too but it wont budge. I then tried removing the grille to have a better view and more access, but it doesn't look like its possible to remove the grille without popping the hood. Anyway, how to tackle it, maybe if there's a way to remove the grille without breaking it or getting from under it.
View 2 RepliesMy latch wont open at all! When i first bought the car the trunk would open but Im not sure what had happened to it. The key doesn't work at all but every time I press the button on my key too open it or from the button on the floor it makes the noise that it unlocked but its still shut??!!?! Maybe I thought it was the fuse but I had changed fuse 15 still nothing any body experienced this before seems too be a common problem. Should I just go through the front and take the panels off for the hatch and diagnose whats wrong with it?
View 1 RepliesFiancee's 04.5 GLI is leaking from the sunroof drain into the front passenger footwell.
The Tubes are clear, but the front passenger drain is leaking from the upper portion of the tube. I pour water down the drain and 90-95% comes out the door nipple. The other 5-10% comes down the Pillar, and then out the bottom of the glove box.
I know its coming out of the top of the drain, not the nipple at the door because I can visually see water drops inside of the pillar.
What if I make a small plug to close off the 1 corner of the drain? I understand the correct solution is to pull the headliner and reconnect it.
BUT with the holidays and chaos of this week, would a temporary solution be to close off the 1 hole? I'd do a small delrin or aluminum plug with an oring on a lathe real quic so its a water proof seal
OR if I plug it, will the water level rise too fast inside the sunroof and pour into the car? I don't know.I think the plug would be a safe solution.....
