My one original switchblade is long gone and the other no longer works. It starts the car of course but none of the functions work, battery change did nothing.
Question: Do any other model year keys work with the alarm and immobilizer?

Is the Horn and the Alarm beep the same unit? Maybe a fuse?
So I have an 05 MK4 GLI, my alarm has not worked since the day I got it. Hold the alarm button on the fob, no luck. when I lock or unlock the car, the lights don't flash and the horn doesn't beep. My ex had an 03 GLS 2.0, alarm/lock/unlock worked without a problem, so why mine doesn't work.

A little over a year ago I was getting a cel and the code that was being thrown was a DTC 16804. I changed the cat and both o2 sensors and the light went away for almost a year. The other day I was driving and the light came on again. Scanned the car and its the same 16804 code. I replaced the front o2 sensor thinking it was bank 1 but it didn't solve the problem. I clear the code and it comes back the next day. I'm finding it hard to believe that the cat is bad after only a year. I checked for vacuum leaks, faulty MAF and nothing under the hood looks out of whack. My mission is up next month and the car won't pass with this code.
Basically one of my keys will only intermittently work on the doors (always works for ignition and the hatch). As soon as I use the remote, the KESSY re-syncs or something and then it works for a little and then after some period of time (say from when I leave my car in the morning until I go to leave work in the evening) it eventually won't work again. Its not the battery, the dealer already reprogrammed all the keys, and its just this particular key, the other seems to always work.
View 24 RepliesMy buddy with his 2000 jetta 2.0 that starts then stalls. The immobilizer light turns on and off again as it should during the starting process. Tried reprogramming the key with the 2 key programming process, also tried removing power from the battery and touching the leads together but these are fixes for the immobilizer but the light doesn't stay flashing. Is there anything I can try while waiting for my vag-com scanner to be delivered....

When I shut the hood, the car decided to simultaneously lock, and now the horn/alarm is going off and the key fob won't unlock the car or disable the alarm. And the keys don't work in the door/trunk so I can't get inside. What I should do?
View 5 RepliesI've got a 2004 Golf 2.0 GL.....and for some reason this morning out of the blue when I tried to start the car to go to work it fired right up....and then about 1-2 seconds later immediately dies. I tried several times to start it....but every time it fired right up, then dies in a second or two. I also noticed that I'm getting the Immobilizer light on the dash....I'm guessing this is the problem.
Why would I get this all of a sudden? Did something happen to the chip in my key? Could the sensor in the steering column by bad? I don't want to have to load this thing on a trailer and take it to the dealership. Why would this happen out of the blue??
i have a car with a busted out steering column (drunk PO lost the key and tried to screw driver the ignition to get the steering to turn so he can move the car). i ordered a new key by vin and i managed to find the tumbler casing(damaged) but all the tumblers (still in good shape). i have installed another column in the car now and i pulled the lock cylinder assembly with the immo induction ring out. id like to take the tumbler casing out of the induction ring and put in my old tumblers.
how do you remove the immobilizer induction ring from lock cylinder?
So like the title states I have a MK4 VR6 Jetta that was running before I ran into this issue and was idling but wouldn't reach over 2k before sputtering and stopping acceleration and the EPC light would turn on. Now the car starts for a second at a time before dying which to me sounds like the Immobilizer but the vehicle shows no blinking immobilizer code while starting. What I can check to get this straightened out. I miss my VR6 ... I have been thinking it could be:
1) Fuel pump/ Fuel pump relay
2) Ecu Issue
3) Crank/Knock Sensor
I'm just confused because it was throwing no codes before, the temp sensor worked as the car warmed and the only engine light occurred upon reaching operating temp and due to me being catless upon restarting the vehicle it threw an o2 fault code. Just so confused ...
I am going to remove my Instrument Cluster for an illumination LED changing, to convert them to the white colour. I found out that Immobiliser is located on Instrument Cluster, is there anything I have to be careful?
It's 1999 Bora. I think Immo 2 on it.
I found one Thread that someone had the problem with Immobiliser after cluster removal (it was also for LED job), a car was not starting, he suffered some time tried lots of things, but then everything went OK, even though he wasn't sure what was wrong.
So, do you think there is a high potential risk to take it out? Do you think I have to cut battery connection beforehand?
Well last night on my way home after work (2:30 AM) I was on the turnpike and puff my car shut down and anti theft immobilizer light started blinking and the car won't start got it tow....

Yesterday everything was working great with my FOB key, I swapped plastic housing to one that is in better condition and then things went down hill. Both FOB's tested great for wireless transmitter. Old FOB no longer locks, unlocks or pops trunk. Car drives and turns over with master and valet keys properly (ruling out immobilizer I believe?)
I am trying to reset and program the FOB but my anti-theft system is not turning on with key- and that is critical to have on with what I have read here. Once I can get the red-light flashing and indicating anti-theft is on, I should be good to proceed.
Last night I turned key in car to on position and the alarm was going off, used the master key to pop the trunk open and that caused the alarm to cease.
Since then I can not get the anti-theft/alarm to activate at all. Currently if I have all my doors and windows closed along with the trunk, turning the key in door to the lock position it locks but does not activate the anti-theft -- no blinking red LED. Turning the key twice does not lock all doors either.
I have a volkswagen jetta glx vr6.Today my key wont turn (unable to crank engine) and the car won't detect my key (no remote entry/lock function).I've detached the battery.
Plugging the batter back and keeping the key in:
1. Off position causes the "Electronic Immobilzer" light to blink.
2. When in on position. no "electronic immoblizer light comes on.
3. In anycase I can't get the ignition to work.
My engine check/airbag lights are also on and my radio/ac doesn't work. Also the electronic controls for rear view mirrors don't work. Half of the tail (exaust) pipe rusted and has fallen off.On the funny sideI asked the guy at VW to appraise my jetta for a trade and he said it would be $500 for the car !! ONLY After the company official tested the car this won't start...the sales person left, since it was 6PM on Friday. I was left alone and had no option other than to leave my car at Pugi VW showroom and ask a friend for a ride...Long story.
So my temp light comes on in my 2002 gti 1.8t. The light comes on with the engine cold and not running, just keys in. I replaced the temp sender and the fan switch. I already checked the fuses, still good. The only thing i can think of now is the relay. There is plenty of coolant in the system as well. And I am not getting any CEL.

Key fob has not worked for awhile so I use the physical key to lock and unlock the door. I locked the doors when I went to the movies last night come out and unlocked the doors as I always do, Get in and start my car and the alarm starts going off.
So of course I have a little freak out moment after about 30 seconds it went off. So I turn the car off and start it again same thing happened. I say screw it and drive it and the alarm shuts off once more.
I did notice when I got home and turned the car off the red light by the drivers side door lock knob was blinking.
I have looked all over the place and everything that I read says the car won't start. My car starts and drives just fine it's just when I first start it the alarm goes off for about 30-45 seconds.
My 04 jetta, if I use any buttons on the remote it sets the alarm off. I've checked with a vag com and can see all the doors, hood and trunk open and close. Central locking works, it locks at speed, and will lock / unlock all the doors from the drivers door lock .
View 3 RepliesI've got a 2007 Prius and the buttons on one of the smart keys no longer works. With the key in hand, I can touch the door handle and the door will unlock. I can also turn the car on without placing the SKS in the slot. However the lock/unlock/emergency buttons don't work. Everything works fine on my other SKS so I don't believe it's something with the car. I've also checked the KEY button below the steering wheel - it's out.
I've just changed the batteries on the broken SKS. Even going as far as pulling the battery out of the completely functional SKS and putting it into the broken SKS. Still, the three buttons don't work.
Well my alarm is not working properly, when lock my doors all my doors lock but yet my headlights don't flash and i dont get any alarm chirp..
